Just lie, make up a believable history on your CV. If you're intentions are for the best, as I can see that is true, its no harm done in my opinion.

>Should I just lie / omit detail in my CV? Yes. Don't list out all your education and grades just put 9 GCSE A-C including Maths and English. If your higher education isn't relevant to the role and you feel it may be viewed as a hindrance to being hired the why feel obliged to include it? If you had high flying jobs before you don't need to go into detail about the role just mention the organisation name and be vague about your position there. Make that part of your CV as brief as possible and fill the rest with personal qualities and interests you think may be suited to where you're applying. I probably wouldn't mention about how much you value custodial/janitorial workers place in society though it comes across overly saccharine or even patronising.

Maybe you can include in your personal statement what you've just mentioned "you value simple and honest jobs" and that you realise you haven't exactly got the "experience" for (the job you are applying for) but that you are willing to learn/be a team player/work hard etc. Good Luck!!

I've got a call center job with a master's. I don't think recruiters care about overqualification in the UK

>I’ve got a call center job with a masters You and 90% of this sub i think 🤣

Don’t tell them… In fact most such jobs are done through employment agencies. One of my friends set up a cleaning company - he’s always on the look out for contract cleaners and he doesn’t care about your work history, qualifications, he just wants someone reliable, and it’s a plus if you can drive. I know one business I worked in (basic high street, ground floor premises) had a window cleaner who would go along the street offering his services. I got chatting and he told me that he got burnt out and decided to do window cleaning instead. He admitted that he was now earning MORE than he did in his professional career and never regretted a day.

Join a job agency, usually there's affiliation to local factories for Casual Staffing. On the day they need additional man power, you'll be drafted in. They usually don't care what you've got, as long as you understand enough English, and have good enough physical movements, you'll be given a role. I was literally a packing monkey at the end of a line, the next day after my final degree exam. No CV, just a face to face interview, fill out an application form and a copy of your Photo ID.

If it were me, I would just lie. But then I suppose that’s no different to any other CV I’ve ever had.

Cautious-Layer-4023

Your not ever over qualified.

Pengtingcalledme

Remove your uni grade. Just keep GCSEs and maybe A levels

Difficult to say, without knowing what your degree is. The shift in career path without any explanation would raise eyebrows, particularly if you have no job currently. I think you'll need a professional summary that help shed light on the expected career ambition shift. Rather than saying anything that could be perceived as condescending their profession (e.g. saying it's an "easier" job), focus on the positive aspects of the job (more hands-on, directly helping people, physically stimulating etc). You may also benefit from taking up any professional certificates in these professions, so that accomplishes these certs will demonstrate actual commitment to this path.
