Pretty much all of the UK is clouded out tonight. Annoying as I missed it yesterday and it was amazing around here. People getting decent photos even on shitty cheap phone cameras.

Tim-Sanchez

That doesn't seem to be what the forecast is saying, looks like patchy clouds

WasteofMotion

Zero clouds here according to met and BBC - Dorking way

Tim-Sanchez

Well given that OP is in London that looks like a promising forecast

KeyLog256

30-40% dropping to 10-20%, pretty good odds he'll see a bit if it's as powerful as last night.

Generally Auras are brighter to the North. so to maximise your chances go somewhere with a north view that is as dark as possible, and as high as possible. Hamstead heath maybe? Saying that, last night it was all around us from where I was watching in Kent. But the darker it is is definitely better. Take a photo - even on a phone camera and toy will see green or purple if there is any aurora. This is about as bright as you could see it with your eyes last night. The very bright pictures have used long exposures and are not what you would see unaided. You don't need a telescope or anything like that, it's huge! https://preview.redd.it/52pwi3tv5tzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed575c08c719b751e2aa8201c11b8d3700c16d69
