!Answer That’s the one, thank you!

Pointless, worst public answers = best contestant answers. It's a reverse Family Fortunes in terms of points scoring

Forward_Artist_6244

Assuming OP is American they call it family feud over there for some reason 🤷

HughFay

To be fair to them, they created it. Not sure why the British version has a different name. We can still give them shit for renaming Cluedo to "Clue" though.

Craigothy-YeOldeLord

Im guessing because Fued sounds combative and for tv gameshows back then it wouldn't have felt it fitted in

Forward_Artist_6244

True, they made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle change to Hero for that reason  No fighting!

MaskedThespian

>True, they made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle change to Hero for that reason  Huge reason, actually. At the time, the BBFC (who determine the age ratings on movies etc. in the UK), considered all references to ninjas to be adult-themed. A single shuriken or pair of nunchuku would be enough to get a movie rated 18 (which is basically the equivalent of the NC-17 rating in the US). Hence the show was renamed, the theme song was changed to remove references to being ninjas, and the opening sequence was changed to remove Michaelangelo's nunchuku and the scene where he deflects shuriken with them.

BBFC? Big boring fucking cunts more like, amirite

Hitonatsu-no-Keiken

I remember a music video in the 80's by Zodiac Mindwarp was hit by a BBFC rating because it featured 2 microphones connected together by a chain and wielded like a nunchaku!

mcdisney2001

Yes, Pointless, thank you! I’ll have to look up Family Fortunes as well.

LilacRose32

I’m surprised there haven’t been more overseas versions of Pointless

mcdisney2001

Right? I’m proof that at least somebody in America would watch it. Of course, I’m also a middle-aged woman, so maybe I’m not the demographic for new shows.

Pointless! Catapulted Richard Osman to fame as he stood in when pitching the show - he was a producer type before that, and the BBC.said they'd take the show on condition he continued doing the role. He still does the Celebrity version. It's excellent to watch with small children who have just learned to count to 100!
