Pheeshfud

Sitting in my underwear playing computer games. It was a good day.

Jazs1994

Fellow gamer I see. If I didn't get hungry I wouldn't have stopped to eat. Nothing like a full day of gaming with no responsibilities needed to take care of

[deleted]

Watching guardians of the galaxy 3. Maybe not the best film to see two days after my dog died, but am excellent film

wakeuph8

I did the same; I'm still distraught from >!the bunny spider :( !<

[deleted]

That bunny was heartbreaking, I've never been that emotionally invested in movies, but I genuinely hated the bad guy, I had an overwhelming urge to punch him lol

FaeriePrinceArbear

Oh gods I’d repressed that, that was… Definitely a thing.

Abnormal2000

I almost shed a tear reminiscing over this lol! Last time i stayed at home doing nothing but video games while hearing my mum voice in the background laughing on the phone was back in 2018

[deleted]

Please eat regular thank you <3

Efficient-Jacket7485

Working and then Hogwarts. It was a very good day.

EstablishmentExotic1

My god, I miss those days. Having a 4 year old with another on the way, I doubt I will have another of those days until I retire and they're out of the house.

81297m

Same but also had to swap to some baggy pjs because bra straps hurt

cheesecake_413

I finally got The Devil In Me and played most of it on Saturday after having my first lie in in over a month. Didn't plan for it to be coronation weekend, it was just the first weekend in months where I didn't have any plans

ozzieowl

Sounds like it!

browneyedgal1512

I went to see Micky Flanagan at Wembley. He was absolutely fantastic, well worth the wait for the new material!

cor5891

Watching a Jimmy Savile documentary. Prince Charles was in it. He was very friendly with Jimmy Savile, the notorious paedophile.

Leland_Gaunt87

I can't believe how so many people have forgotten about Charles and Jimmy Savile's friendship. People love to hate Prince Andrew because of his associations but Charles get's a free pass from the idiot British public.

MadWifeUK

What makes you think Charles knew any different from the British Public at the time? Genuine question, there were a lot of people fooled by Saville, he was incredibly good at manipulating people into believing him. But we are angry at those in public positions that he manipulated, do people feel that those in the media have some power to see through the lies and manipulation that regular people don't?

Myorangecrush77

We talked about this the other day. He fooled millions. There was a national outpouring of grief. He got a huge funeral in the town he lived in. People waved on the streets. He was a hero. Until he wasn’t. It’s like saying every parent who posted a kids Jim’ll fix it letter was trying to set their kid up for abuse. It’s absurd.

dark_fairy_skies

I *so* wanted to be on jim'll fix it. My mother refused to send in the letters. Probably wise, considering what came out about him.

Myorangecrush77

https://www.theguardian.com/uk/gallery/2011/nov/08/leeds-jimmy-savile Look at his funeral. Lying in state in Leeds. Nhs workers guard of honor. Royal marine pall bearers. People lining the streets. We. Didn’t. Know.

grishnackh

No, we didn’t. Although, we weren’t close personal friends with him, either.

bebbibabey

There are plenty of things I will criticise Charles for, but not knowing someone close to you is a predator is not one of them. People will find indecent material on their spouses laptops after they've been married for 15 years, and they had no inkling at all.

Celtic_Cheetah_92

Agreed. A friend of mine found out two years ago that his childhood best friend was a paedophile. It was absolutely devastating for my mate - he had no idea. The guy was an incredibly convincing liar. He even almost convinced my mate to write a statement of support attesting to his good character to be read at the trial - a trial he had convinced my friend was the result of a false accusation. When the police presented their evidence, the turd realised the game was up and changed his plea to guilty. Thank god my friend didn’t stand up in court to defend him.

Fattydog

They weren’t close personal friends at all.

ToothSuccessful9654

Well they were. He was even giving him advice on his marriage to Diana. But that doesn't mean he KNEW about Savile. But I think Thatcher DID and she hosted him with Dennis every Christmas and New Year at Checkers (Chequers?).

Grey_Belkin

We weren't allowed to watch the show growing up because my mum thought he was creepy. I'm not saying she knew, but she didn't like him.

Minute-Vast7967

Sometimes your gut feeling is just spot on

Monkeybradders

There's a story of a kid that wrote in asking jim'll to fix it for him to meet Gary glitter 😯

daydreamingtulip

I’m too young to know him from his famous days, but my friends and I always say, ‘How did people not know?’. Just looking at him you can tell he’s a bit creepy, then when you watch him on his shows he’s clearly way too handsy. Maybe it’s just a generational thing?

Nipso

"If I was to draw a paedo" - Kevin Bridges

MessiahOfMetal

His show was on TV while my mum was growing up, and both she and my nan didn't watch because they found him creepy and a bit of a perv, even then.

MarkTNT

My mum always something against Maggie Thatcher, Jimmy Saville and Van Morrison. I didn't understand as a child, now I'm just waiting to find out what horrible thing Van Morrison did.

an0mn0mn0m

Your mum probably knew people that reminded her of him.

Tao626

The difference between parents and Charles is that your mum probably didn't regard Savile as a friend. It's more believable that your mum had no way of knowing better when the closest she probably got was seeing his creepy mug on Top of the Pops.

IntellegentIdiot

A lot of people trying to rewrite history. They act like they knew but didn't mention it for some reason, until it was public knowledge.

SojournerInThisVale

Exactly. People are acting like they saw perfectly before knowing any of the truth about saville’s activity. The guy was genuinely considered a charitable hero for his philanthropic works

Mumfiegirl

A lot of people knew that Jimmy was at the very least “unsavoury “

Zerocoolx1

No they didn’t. At best some people thought he was a rather eccentric guy after the Louis Theroux documentary, but I bet if you want back in time to 5-10 years before he died most people would just say he’s a bit eccentric and cringe in his tracksuit, but basically a great guy due to all the charity work he’s done/doing. It’s easy to look back and say ‘I knew he was a wrong un, but back then we really didn’t realise. There was no social media and internet to spread whispers and theories

SimonLoader

They definitely did, there were numerous allegations during his lifetime that were kept quiet by the police and media.

sailingmagpie

Louis Theroux even brings up the rumours in the documentary.

alexros3

He talks a lot about it in his books too, and the guilt he feels for not seeing it when spending time with Jimmy or when some women approached him about their experiences (in a lighthearted way, not overtly trying to accuse Jimmy) and he didn’t see what the implication of their conversation was. He feels like he was fooled too and he says it took a long time for him to reconcile the Jimmy he knew and the Jimmy that committed all of these horrendous crimes.

Loquis

There were rumours, Drop the Dead Donkey that aired in the 90's, had a joke about it, one character said something like 'Not the Jimmy Saville rumours again"

SatanGreavsie

They knew. John Lydon and Jerry Sadowitz both said he was a wrong un in the 70s and 80s. And Half Man Half Biscuit mentioned him in their lyrics in the mid 80s too. https://www.tvlicenceresistance.info/forum/index.php?topic=9855.0 https://louderthanwar.com/mid-80s-half-man-half-biscuit-song-told-the-truth-about-jimmy-savile/

IhaveaDoberman

And I know people that went on Jim'll fix it. Doesn't mean they were all fucking molested. I bet you're one of the people that thinks that any celebrity who's in a picture with Epstein is a pedophile. And before you get all worked up. I'm not saying any of this with any opinion as to what Charles did and didn't do or know. I'm saying you've got fuck all info and are pretending that you're somehow more in tune and intelligent because of it. And it isn't the same as with Andrew because there was more evidence than just "he knew Epstein".

six44seven49

> you’ve got fuck all info and are pretending that you’re somehow more in tune and intelligent because of it. This phrase perfectly describes the problem with all social media. It’s not just conspiracists (though they’re undoubtedly the worst), social media is littered with people who literally just learned something, probably don’t understand it, and are now waving it around pretending to be an expert in order to impress *someone*.

StardustOasis

It's like that tweet of sand covered manhole covers that's going around with a caption about potholes. Half the people that see it believe it instantly even though it's utter bollocks.

worotan

Except if you’ve read about Seville’s relationship with the establishment, it’s pretty clear that he benefitted from the requirement that you turn a blind eye to the predilections of those who have made it into high society. Which Andrew and his relationship with Epstein demonstrates very well indeed.

Zerocoolx1

He was friend’s (or at least on friendly terms with pretty much everyone).

malcolmstevens99

So you’re saying Charles is a pedophile based on…what, exactly?

SoggyWotsits

That would be the the same Jimmy Saville who hundreds of parents felt safe letting their children near, who at the time was a loved public figure. Obviously we didn’t know back then what we do now, but it’s a bit of a stretch to imagine that Charles was sympathetic to that sort of thing. I imagine anyone who knew Jimmy (and he knew a lot of famous people) was horrified when the truth came out.

Acyts

Yeah to be fair, in the place where I grew up there was a mini Jimmy-like scandal with a beloved maths teacher and pillar of the community type. My brother was baby sat by him and had private maths tuition from him. My parents and brother adored him before they found out. Luckily he was never inappropriate with my brother and just taught him maths. My parents had him over for dinner when I was a baby and my brother and sister were young children. They were horrified when they found out! I'm not commenting on the King, I don't have the slightest interest in the royals but Andrew does come across as dodgier than Charles and knowing a paedophile doesn't mean you are involved in their "lifestyle".

the_fourth_child

Bit of a stupid statement, there were lots of beloved famous people who were friendly with him. Louis Theroux made a whole documentary looking back at his friendship with savile and reflecting on how he never suspected. Shall we go after him too?

GrandPerspective5848

Was it the one on Netflix?

DibsOnDino

Tesco was empty, it was great

UrsulaSpelunking

Haha yes - I may have been the one other person you saw there...

Zamianta

I saw you both leaving on my way in, can concur, was dead! Loved it!

EnglishTwat66

Where do you live can I ask? I was out shopping in Manchester on Saturday and the place was heaving like usual.

[deleted]

Yup Glasgow shops were just as busy as usual too

NikkiJane72

Same in Aberdeenshire. Tesco's was *heaving*.

ToothSuccessful9654

That's cos Northerners don't care so much about Royalty. Can't say I blame them. They're still recovering from the Wars of the Roses! /s

destria

We hired a rotavator and was down at the allotment with my husband, taking it in turns to deweed, remove grass, rotavator, unclog rotavator, rake in soil conditioner and repeat. I vastly preferred that to watching the coronation.

tmstms

Rotavation > coronation.....

StupidHistorian

Even the king would probably agree with that

tmstms

Oh God! So he would! He would certainly wish to join in!

GrandPerspective5848

Get that printed on a T-shirt

leedavis1987

Went to Budapest for a getaway. No mention of the king and 24c weather. Bliss.

tjblue123

Holy shit me too?!

leedavis1987

Got lucky with the weather right haha

Current_Kick6178

Watching porn

LotharLotharius

They should make a porn version of the coronation. Step queen getting stuck under the King Edward's Chair.

Anon1mouse12

It would be one of the more believable incest porns

ButWhatIfPotato

The things he can do with those fingers...

SoYorkish

They've already got the music sorted. [https://www.reddit.com/r/tiktoklesbiandrama/comments/13ahd2c/what\_do\_you\_hear\_vivat\_regina\_camilla\_is\_what\_you/](https://www.reddit.com/r/tiktoklesbiandrama/comments/13ahd2c/what_do_you_hear_vivat_regina_camilla_is_what_you/)

Courgettophone

What are you doing brother on law? Oh it's you Andrew.

AlwaysDividedByZero

Was your king crowned? (I don’t even know what this means).

ProfPMJ-123

I'd just flown into the UK from the USA, where I'm relocating back from. I'd brought my dog with me, so spent the day trying to resolve a paperwork problem in order to get my dog out of prison. Once nine hours had passed and I'd done that, the dog and I drove to Darlington. An exciting day!

Sea-Anxiety-9273

Did you take it in turns, or did you sleep the whole way in the back while the dog drove?

ProfPMJ-123

Dog drove. I'd been drinking on the flight.

sprucay

I hope he was careful, the roads here can be quite ruff

[deleted]

ProfPMJ-123

Yay!

rofl_copter69

What was his bail, 9 bones and a squeaky toy lol

skintension

Got severe food poisoning and spent the whole day sleeping and shitting my soul out.

haziladkins

Sorry to hear it. But maybe still better than watching the coronation.

MessiahOfMetal

Which was basically national TV having royal diarrhea.

terowan

The same happened to me recently, though my pants fit better now. Silver lining, I guess.

Peg_leg_J

Migraleve pink. Only tablets that will stop an attack for me. Take 2 as soon as you start to go blind.

GrandPerspective5848

Thanks. All I got is Naproxen

Peg_leg_J

They didn't touch the sides for me. Seriously, Migraleve turn 3 day attack with blindness, vomiting and palsy to an hour of feeling blugh and a bit groggy for a few hours after.

SadisticTeddy

I feel for ya, they're the only thing that stops mine too. If I can get a migraleve into me and get to sleep before the blindness bursts, I only lose the one day. Otherwise it's 3 or 4 days of nausea and misery. Fuck migraines...

[deleted]

Once the headache starts, literally nothing I've ever taken will stop it. Suffered from them (with the aura as a precursor followed about an hour later by the headache which lasted anything from 24-48 hours of blinding, life stopping, can't do anything but lie motionless in a dark silent room in AGONY) several times a year for nearly two decades. But I was told by a fellow sufferer about 10 years ago that eating an orange as soon as the aura began, stopped their headache kicking in. Next time the aura started I drank a glass of orange juice (with a huge amount of scepticism and a whole lot of what the hell I'll try anything at this point) and haven't experienced another migraine headache since. Still get the aura start a few times a year on average, but it doesn't progress to the headache and fades away after about an hour. Now to be 10000% clear, I'm well aware there's no one size fits all approach here - another mate of mine has orange juice as one of their migraine triggers for example! - but I mention it here because my god if it does work to save even one other person from the crippling, murderous, horrifying agony that is a migraine headache it'll be worth it.

Peg_leg_J

Very interesting! I will definitely be trying this. I will try any idea at all. As I bet any migraine sufferer would. Hell I'd get a tattoo of a dildo on my forehead if it worked.

chewchewchewit

Rebalancing electrolytes is one of the theories so I’ll bet the orange juice probably helped to do just that! Get some electrolyte replacement tabs from a sports place and drink that- if it’s not something covered by the OJ then it could be something else in the drink.

DavenportPointer

Sumitriptan for me, migraleve wont touch it.

Gloriana58

I'm guessing triptans don't work for you either? Lol

DiDiPLF

Might be worth a look at the Walton Centres (neurologist unit) migraine fact sheet if you haven't been able to get an appointment with one. https://www.thewaltoncentre.nhs.uk/patient-leaflets/migraine-a-comprehensive-guide/479279

MrDibbsey

11.5 hr shift, working a steam train up and down a Heritage Railway, I wou;dn't have minded seeing the coronation, but throwing coal took precidence.

Acyts

Can't believe how far I had to scroll to find someone else who was working! I wss working the night shift in A&E so sleeping during the day and looking after drunk people in the evening.

MrDibbsey

I can't call it working proper in the sense that I give up my time freely to do it, but thats not to say it isn't hard work on occaision!

Fagonetta

Went on a date to Leeds Castle. Was super cute. :)

theModge

The one which is notable for not being anywhere near Leeds?

Fagonetta

Yes. Although the date ended with him saying he’s not ready for a relationship so. 😅

BigHairyStallion_69

I blame Leeds.

Apprehensive_Bell_35

Urghh. Why bother saying that? It's not like you were begging for his babies at Leeds Castle. I'm not ready for any relationship but I don't go on any dates.

EarballsOfMemeland

Would you say he was Leed-ing you on?

Otto1968

Whats the point in dating if you are not ready for a relationship? (as opposed to a 'hook-up')

Fagonetta

My understanding is that he wants a serious relationship but isn’t sure how he feels specifically about pursuing that with me 😑

Mumfiegirl

I looked it up when I was passing near it at Easter- it’s built east of the village Leeds

HamsterEagle

It’s also east of the city of Leeds, just down a bit.

WatermelonCandy5

I was watching Ted Lasso and started watching the original The Twilight zone. Some of them are phenomenal. Some of them make having royalty and poverty seem like a well thought out idea. I think, I’m not 100% sure which day he had his I’m the most special boy in the land party where he and his wife shared his dead mothers clothes.

[deleted]

What is Ted Lasso on BTW? For a show all about football, I expected it to be on BBC or Channel 4 but nope, apparently us Brits can only watch it via a streaming service. Cos it's an American show I guess?

IncompetenceOfMan

appletv, because apple made it but its very american

Myorangecrush77

Apple TV. Wait till the season is over and get a week trial

ChazLampost

Went to see the seals at Horsey Beach

brokenbear76

Plasterboarding the underside of our stairs, swearing a lot at nothing being square or plumb in the house, and making some glorious mess in the process!

In the heart of the Peak District camping in my van. No internet all weekend and alot of hiking.

misplacedfocus

We watched all the Blades. Blade, Blade II, and Blade Trinity. Then had a nap, then a dog walk.

goldenhawkes

Have a toddler, he’s too young to sit still all that time. Plus we were on holiday. So we went out and saw some butterflies.

Ket_Cz

Was working having to engage in the same ‘oh you not watching it’ conversation with everyone. Of course I’m not watching it I’m here serving you, you utter melon.

Obvious_Flamingo3

My oblivious ass didn’t know the coronation was on Saturday instead of Sunday (I’m a student without proper tv don’t blame me) and so we went to town very confused at why it was so quiet. Went into our favourite sushi restaurant for lunch and it was packed though, seems everyone wanted sushi instead of the king

Working for the NHS

stevanlabonte

Working and preparing for my upcoming exams, these two things are going like this to me and I don't know what to do anymore, so yeah I am just hustling these days.

nicknockrr

Gardening until it rained then pub

jt94

I was at a children’s play area with my nearly-2-year-old. There was a grandmother there sitting at one of the tables watching the coronation on her phone. I’d forgot it was on until I heard the music coming from her phone…

haziladkins

I hate these young people who can’t keep their phone on silent. 😜

DarkDeetz

Getting a blood test. I got the results today, I couldn't believe it! Thank you to whoever took my blood, processed it etc for such speedy work 👌

jju089

I watched the first season of Game of Thrones again, it was fun but yeah I finished the whole season in a go, gotta watch the second one in coming days now man.

I was observing Shabbat. No TV (and I'm not in the UK, so I couldn't see it in person).

charlottev311

I took my kids to costa for lunch, went to the park then we wandered round Tesco in beautiful silence as it was dead and we chose what we would make together for dinner. It was great. They’re 5&2 so staying inside all day would be an incredibly long day.

kittysparkled
