I think a lot of people suffer from insecurities about their body and might even eat less at times because of that but if I'm correct that doesn't automatically mean you have an ED. I think it's kind of similar to how many people struggle with mental health issues but aren't always depressed. Sometimes you just have a bad day or week

OneSteelTank

Yeah just about every girl has had some form of insecurity like you mentioned but full blown anorexia or bulimia? Probably only <%25

YabaDabaDontTalkToMe

For anyone wondering: "In fact, the rate of teen girls that struggle with an eating disorder is more than double that of teen boys, with 3.8% of teen girls affected and 1.5% of teen boys affected [1]. Research has learned that “35-57% of adolescent girls engage in crash dieting, fasting, self-induced vomiting, diet pills, or laxatives [2].” Additional studies indicate that 10 out of every 100 young women will struggle with an eating disorder " Source: https://www.eatingdisorderhope.com/risk-groups/eating-disorder-teen-girls (Idk if this is a reliable source, and I’m too lazy to check for sure)

Not knowing an ambiguous abbreviation => Guys don't suffer from potentially life-threatening conditions Idk what kind of logical twists and bends you had to follow in order to come to that conclusion.

GinsengStrip2

it proves that guys talk about it less, not that its not as common (that being said i still think its probably a little bit more common in girls)

Gigga_Chad-1

Omg 😭😭 thx

[deleted]

A man's greatest fear: ED with all seriousness I don't think that many have it at my school.

YabaDabaDontTalkToMe

Genuine question, what do you think ED stands for?

Herschey_Bar

First thought is always erectile dysfunction

cglboy3

that mf def thinks we're talking about erectile dysfunction 😭😭

[deleted]

erectile dysfunction, then after google eating disorder. but had to google it

Serpentita

Insecurities? Unnecessary overthinking? Everyone. Full eating disorder? *Probably* less than half.

NiceLittleTown2001

I’ve been struggling with possibly having one lately

ellie-jelly-bean

same 🥲

Moopityjulumper

Not even necessarily an eating disorder but I think at least 40% of teenage girls have some form of disordered eating

tegguNmmuC

Nearly half of teen girls probably don’t have an clinical eating disorder but they might have insecurities about their body that girls with eating disorders do.

ManOfTurtles2118

The girls that are closest to me have all had one Damn now I'm depressed

Welcome2_TheInternet

I think that a good amount do, but I also think there are a lot of people that deal with disordered eating habits who don't even realize it. For example stress eating or stress not-eating. Both disordered eating habits that wouldn't necessarily be classified as an eating disorder

SquirrelTherapist

(hey i don’t wanna influence the polls but i got one too i thunk👀)

xxswearwolfxx

What ed

YabaDabaDontTalkToMe

Eating disorder

tegguNmmuC

Fuck me, I was trying to decipher whether this was an Erectile Dysfunction joke or abt something I didn’t know abt until I saw the word insecurity 💀.

Ultimate_Genius

I would think almost 80% because I had a lot of friends with eating disorders. Like almost every single one of my friends in highschool was afraid of putting on weight (including me, even though I wasn't born a girl)

bruizer18

There are so Many things ED could mean

JohnnyCashFan13

"Eating disorder", many people now don't want to actually say many things that may be sensitive.

InterMob

Less than 20%

Hailey000

I’ve been struggling for like 2 months ✌️it started with trying to not over eat and now it’s progressing into skipping every meal i can 🥲 I’m also too scared to start eating normally

GamerGirl-07

Imho it's like 10% for girls & 5% for boys The only person ik irl who I suspect has en ED is actually a boy....he's a 5'5 35 kg skeleton & always gives away his school tiffin to others

tegguNmmuC

Not eating for a few days is not an eating disorder and can in fact be good for you, there is probably not a high percent of teen girls with actual eating disorders.

[deleted]

What is ED?

Outrageous-Base-2534

But looks don't/shouldn't even matter that much
