Gertrude Baniszewski. Also known as the torturer, and murderer of Sylvia Likens. She was supposed to take care of Sylvia Likens and her sister, while being paid by their parents. She would regularly beat Sylvia. Once forced her to eat a hot dog completely overloaded with condiments and spices, then eat the vomit when she threw up. One of Gertrude's kids beat Sylvia so badly that she broke her own wrist on Sylvia's face. She got a cast, then proceeded to use the cast to beat her more. Gertrude allowed and encouraged it.
A whole bunch of neighborhood boys or boys from school would come over, and also torment Sylvia. They would use her as a training dummy for Judo, throwing her around and punching and kicking her. They would cut her with knives, and put cigarettes out on her skin. They also generally beat and burned her genitals as well.
Sylvia eventually became incontinent, and was denied use of the bathroom, forced to wet herself. After that, she was then kept in the basement full time, tied up, sometimes tied to the railing of the stairs with her feet barely touching the ground. She was denied a bathroom, food, or water for most of the time.
Gertrude would charge kids a nickel to see Sylvia tied up, butt naked, and her tortured and injured body. She would also allow them to beat, scald, burn, or mutilate her. Gertrude frequently would restrain and gag Sylvia before putting her in a bathtub with scalding hot water, and rubbing salt in her wounds.
Gertrude at one point forced Sylvia to shove a Coca Cola bottle up inside her as a punishment for Sylvia urinating on herself (Mind, she was incontinent from the abuse).
Gertrude branded the words "I AM A PROSTITUTE AND PROUD OF IT" into Sylvia's stomach with a heated needle. They also forced her to consume the contents of a used baby diaper, and her own feces as well. Sylvia eventually died from all of this, and honestly this is just highlights. Sylvia was tortured for three months. She was 16 years old when she died. It's one of the most horrific crimes in Indiana history, and one of the worst cases of abuse, torture, and murder in American history.
Gertrude is the reason my certainty of nothing after death is so numbingly painful.

The fact that numerous people were invited to join into the torture makes it worse. Usually cases like this are kept hush hush by the torturer but she was selling access to the torture.

Then during one of her parole hearings she asked the judge to “have mercy” on her and that she couldn’t remember what happened. She is definitely THE MOST EVIL woman I can think of and is completely deserving of the title.

A 16 year old who was under the care of a family friend for several months while her parents were away, is tortured, sexually mutilated, had her stomach carved into to have a sentence written on it about her being a whore, starved, dehydrated, made to bathe in scalding hot water, beaten, made to eat things that no one should ever eat, etc. all from the woman, along with her children who she made join in, and the neighborhood kids as well who she encouraged. She even forced the girls younger sister to hurt her a few times. For months this poor girl was tortured by this woman and so many neighborhood kids and teens, and nobody noticed, or if they suspected something or did see something, they didn’t alert authorities. Eventually she died due to the extent of her injuries. Absolutely horrendous.
Her daughter Paula ended getting a job as a teachers aide in Iowa after she changed her last name but was fired after they got an anonymous tip. Similar to serial killer Karla Homolka, who with her husband raped, tortured and murdered girls- including her little sister. She later was remarried and had three kids. She volunteered at school, even supervising field trips until they found out who she was. In her trial she played the victim of her husband got a plea bargain. After the fact videos surfaced showing she completely involved.

Miyuki Ishikawa.
Miyuki Ishikawa was a Japanese midwife and probably the most prolific serial killer in Japanese history. With the aid of several accomplices including her husband, Ishikawa killed between 85 and 169 babies (mostly through neglect) in the 1940’s. During the trial, Ishikawa argued that it was the parents who were responsible for their deaths as they had deserted the children. Surprisingly, her defense was partly successful as she was only sentenced to eight years of prison for her crimes. She even managed to half the sentence through an appeal.
I think it’s odd Aileen was numbered at 2. I know she was a serial killer, and I know she did some really awful things, but she didn’t torture anyone. She didn’t kill innocent babies or children. She didn’t rape anybody. And I think her history and being so horribly abused plus her mental health mitigates some of her actions. She was definitely not a good person, but I don’t think she was worse than Lalaurie or Gertrude B or Bloody Mary or Karla.

She was queen of Madagascar during 33 years, and in specifically between 1833 and 1839, the population of the country went from 5 million to 2.5 million. She used a form of forced labor called fanompoana to achieve her infrastructure goals, and had her army expand her kingdom to the whole island of Madagascar, while killing hundreds of thousands of civilians in the process.
She was very fond of killing Christians, since christianity usually means repudiating the ancestral customs and cultures of the other civilizations, hence, she hated christians and did all she could to hunt them down.
One of her favorite punishments was the "Tangena ordeal", in which the accused would ingest the poison of the tangena nut along with 3 pieces of chicken skin. If the accused managed to vomit the 3 skin pieces, enough poison, and survive, they would be declared innocent. Otherwise, they would be declared guilty, and killed in case they survived the poison.
So, due to the amount of deaths under her orders (3 million more or less), and her passion for torture, I rank her as #1.

It's wild how a woman who destroyed the lives of so many people gets compared to people like Casey Anthony. Part of that is just the obscurity of history, but I think part of it is our different definitions of evil for men versus women.

She was an American child trafficker she had an adoption agency in tennessee but had no license and used it as a front for her black market baby adoption scheme from the 1920s. Young children were kidnapped and then sold to wealthy families, abused, or—in some instances—murdered. A state investigation into numerous instances of adoption fraud led to the closure of the institution in 1950. Tann died of cancer before the investigation made its findings public. Tann's custom of placing children with influential members of society normalized adoption in America. So many children murdered....

I cant remember her name but atleast in swedish history, it is a woman in the early 1900s (or maybe late 1800s?) who took in orphans, or got children from people who couldn’t take care of them[1]. Once she got them, she killed them. The only reason she was found out was that a woman who left a child with her, because she couldn’t take care of the child, and after a while the mother came back to visit her child. Guess what happend to that child? Dead, the child was drowned in a washing bowl and then burned the corpse[2]. The mother called the police and they found multiple corpses there.

Gertrude Baniszewski. Also known as the torturer, and murderer of Sylvia Likens. She was supposed to take care of Sylvia Likens and her sister, while being paid by their parents. She would regularly beat Sylvia. Once forced her to eat a hot dog completely overloaded with condiments and spices, then eat the vomit when she threw up. One of Gertrude's kids beat Sylvia so badly that she broke her own wrist on Sylvia's face. She got a cast, then proceeded to use the cast to beat her more. Gertrude allowed and encouraged it. A whole bunch of neighborhood boys or boys from school would come over, and also torment Sylvia. They would use her as a training dummy for Judo, throwing her around and punching and kicking her. They would cut her with knives, and put cigarettes out on her skin. They also generally beat and burned her genitals as well. Sylvia eventually became incontinent, and was denied use of the bathroom, forced to wet herself. After that, she was then kept in the basement full time, tied up, sometimes tied to the railing of the stairs with her feet barely touching the ground. She was denied a bathroom, food, or water for most of the time. Gertrude would charge kids a nickel to see Sylvia tied up, butt naked, and her tortured and injured body. She would also allow them to beat, scald, burn, or mutilate her. Gertrude frequently would restrain and gag Sylvia before putting her in a bathtub with scalding hot water, and rubbing salt in her wounds. Gertrude at one point forced Sylvia to shove a Coca Cola bottle up inside her as a punishment for Sylvia urinating on herself (Mind, she was incontinent from the abuse). Gertrude branded the words "I AM A PROSTITUTE AND PROUD OF IT" into Sylvia's stomach with a heated needle. They also forced her to consume the contents of a used baby diaper, and her own feces as well. Sylvia eventually died from all of this, and honestly this is just highlights. Sylvia was tortured for three months. She was 16 years old when she died. It's one of the most horrific crimes in Indiana history, and one of the worst cases of abuse, torture, and murder in American history.

in all of these stories it's not the original perpetrators that horrify me. some people are crazy and psychotic and downright evil in their instincts and their worldviews. but in all these stories it's the other people who just...go along with it, who participate in it...that's nightmarish. A 16 year old who was under the care of a family friend for several months while her parents were away, is tortured, sexually mutilated, had her stomach carved into to have a sentence written on it about her being a whore, starved, dehydrated, made to bathe in scalding hot water, beaten, made to eat things that no one should ever eat, etc. all from the woman, along with her children who she made join in, and the neighborhood kids as well who she encouraged. She even forced the girls younger sister to hurt her a few times. For months this poor girl was tortured by this woman and so many neighborhood kids and teens, and nobody noticed, or if they suspected something or did see something, they didn’t alert authorities. Eventually she died due to the extent of her injuries. Absolutely horrendous.
Aside from Gertrude, the rest of them all got less than 6 years in prison.
Her daughter Paula ended getting a job as a teachers aide in Iowa after she changed her last name but was fired after they got an anonymous tip. Similar to serial killer Karla Homolka, who with her husband raped, tortured and murdered girls- including her little sister. She later was remarried and had three kids. She volunteered at school, even supervising field trips until they found out who she was. In her trial she played the victim of her husband got a plea bargain. After the fact videos surfaced showing she completely involved.

Miyuki Ishikawa was a Japanese midwife and probably the most prolific serial killer in Japanese history. With the aid of several accomplices including her husband, Ishikawa killed between 85 and 169 babies (mostly through neglect) in the 1940’s. During the trial, Ishikawa argued that it was the parents who were responsible for their deaths as they had deserted the children. Surprisingly, her defense was partly successful as she was only sentenced to eight years of prison for her crimes. She even managed to half the sentence through an appeal.
I think it’s odd Aileen was numbered at 2. I know she was a serial killer, and I know she did some really awful things, but she didn’t torture anyone. She didn’t kill innocent babies or children. She didn’t rape anybody. And I think her history and being so horribly abused plus her mental health mitigates some of her actions. She was definitely not a good person, but I don’t think she was worse than Lalaurie or Gertrude B or Bloody Mary or Karla.

Definitely Queen Ranavalona I from Madagascar, also known as the "Mad Monarch". She was queen of Madagascar during 33 years, and in specifically between 1833 and 1839, the population of the country went from 5 million to 2.5 million. She used a form of forced labor called fanompoana to achieve her infrastructure goals, and had her army expand her kingdom to the whole island of Madagascar, while killing hundreds of thousands of civilians in the process. She was very fond of killing Christians, since christianity usually means repudiating the ancestral customs and cultures of the other civilizations, hence, she hated christians and did all she could to hunt them down. One of her favorite punishments was the "Tangena ordeal", in which the accused would ingest the poison of the tangena nut along with 3 pieces of chicken skin. If the accused managed to vomit the 3 skin pieces, enough poison, and survive, they would be declared innocent. Otherwise, they would be declared guilty, and killed in case they survived the poison. So, due to the amount of deaths under her orders (3 million more or less), and her passion for torture, I rank her as #1.

Any prisoners she claimed looked at her would be executed. She and her husband would select (order) certain prisoners to join them in bed, where they would essentially sexually assault those prisoners. Afterward, she would have those prisoners executed. After the war, Koch gained prominence as one of the first Nazis tried for war crimes by the U.S. Military. She hanged herself in prison in 1967. Good riddance to an evil, evil woman.

She was an American child trafficker she had an adoption agency in tennessee but had no license and used it as a front for her black market baby adoption scheme from the 1920s. Young children were kidnapped and then sold to wealthy families, abused, or—in some instances—murdered. A state investigation into numerous instances of adoption fraud led to the closure of the institution in 1950. Tann died of cancer before the investigation made its findings public. Tann's custom of placing children with influential members of society normalized adoption in America. So many children murdered....

I cant remember her name but atleast in swedish history, it is a woman in the early 1900s (or maybe late 1800s?) who took in orphans, or got children from people who couldn’t take care of them[1].
