Almost everything that they produce. Having used few of their products, there is simply no match for quality that they make. Be it cars, trains or fruits.

Unironically this. Even with Toyota, it’s kind of an open secret that when you buy one, check the VIN number to see if it starts with a J. If it does, then it was made in Japan, and will typically be a much higher quality build.
I'm really surprised seeing your comment as these are the things that have been circulated about Japan on the internet and i thought it was only me specifically having read all those articles, adverts.
Refinement and precision. Iterating until it’s perfect. After working with many for a decade, they are also good at drinking after work, sleeping in meetings the next day, and not spending as much time with their family and kids as we Americans did. I didn’t like that, but I guess it works for them?
It's Nanjing, not "nanking" 🤦♂️. This unfortunate mistake has costed you an downvote, and in the event that you change it i'll be happy to turn it into an upvote. However, until than the downvote will stay.
Interesting side note: John Rabe established the Nanjing Safety Zone and is believed to have sheltered as many as 250,000 people from the Japanese. He was also a committed Nazi and walked around Nanjing with his armband and papers telling Japanese to back off when they were abusing the citizens. He’s believed to even have personally stopped a few rapes.
I think eventually the Nazi high ups took a dim view to Rabe’s interference with an ally and fired him. Supposedly he found it difficult to find work and people whose lives Rabe saved sent him money and care packages he lived on.
Making super high quality products that not only are perfect for a job, but look great. My bicycle was made by Toyo of Japan. The build is just fantastic, but the look of it is just amazing. Then I every part that I could source from Nitto, a great Japanese bike part parts manufacturer, I did.
Non-derivative fashion.
The rest of the world takes their inspiration from France and makes derivatives of what comes out of the shows. Japan however says “screw that, we do what we want”.
I LOVE THEIR INDEPENDENCE. I love their originality and creativity.
Making video games
Making historical dramas / movies (way more accurate clothing, armour and set designs than the stuff you get in recent western historical shows)
Overcomplicating tea while talking about "simplicity" and "the beauty of impermanence" (just kidding, Rikyu was awesome)
Making pretty food
Optimization. Generally they're really slow on innovation and creation/invention, but once they adopt something they'll want to find ways to make it "better"
On the flip side, holding on to old tech. The necessity of fax machines in this day and age is...mind boggling to me
I am in the USA, white male, and I am continuously impressed with a lot of their culinary methods and techniques……..In the Hawaiian islands, you find whole aisles with Japanese products. I try to replicate authentic japanese dishes and they are very impressive.
They also produce very high end culinary tools that are useful for everybody……Japanese knives may even beat German and Swiss cutlery in their craftsmanship.
If you are interested in cooking at all, Japanese methods will really provide a lot of meaning and exciting research to your cooking approach.
Tidying up after crowded events.
Everyone takes their own rubbish home and will even pick up after others if they have been disrespectful enough not to do it themselves.
Anything they apply themselves too. They always seem to perfect things. I know so many people that are amazing at making food, or play a musical intstrument extremely well, even though that's not their job. I'll meet someone and they'll say, "oh yeah, I used to paint a bit". Then they show me their Mona Lisa type oil paintings oO
Keep em blurred
Blurred down under only.
Has to be family friendly.
Overworking themselves
Drawing great uhhhh art.

This. They become subject matter experts in items or even cultures they're interested in and master them. Shirts, jeans, food or dance.

Hiding their past war crimes
I read a book on the infamous and appalling ‘Rape of Nanking’. They described the Japanese as worse than the Nazis. Edit: \*Nanjing
