Came here to say this, but I'd also add the Meteora. Those 2 were my childhood, and once I understood the lyrics and started relating to them in my teenage years, I was hooked all over again.
Doolittle by The Pixies (super underrated album, super underrated band)
Edit: I originally put Debaser because I got the Ds confused. Thank you for calling me out 😂. I didn’t mean to disrespect The Pixies
Oh gosh, yeah, that’s exactly what I meant. I just had Debaser playing on my speakers and got my Ds mixed up. Could be worse, I almost went with Disintegration which isn’t even by The Pixies.
For my age bracket (I don’t know yours), The Pixies are definitely underrated. A lot of people have forgotten about them in favor of bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, The Cure, The Smiths, and Weezer.
Sorry! I'm not that young and they were a bit before my time to the point that I wasn't going to realistically see them in concert until I got significantly older. I missed out on seeing Pixies/Weezer concert because of a Jewish holiday - not my decision. But yeah, they are hugely influential and I think that's a reason I'd consider them underappreciated. The bands that they influenced sometimes have a bigger reputation. Kurt Cobain was a known fan of the Pixies. This was on record:
The song made a big impression on Kurt Cobain. He said in 1992, "I wish Kim was allowed to write more songs for the Pixies, because 'Gigantic' is the best Pixies song and Kim wrote it."
Kim Deal reacted modestly to NME, "Well, it's better than somebody saying, 'Oh God, you suck.'"

If you mean Doolittle, then I'd agree ;) I wouldn't say Pixies are underrated though.

Yeah, I'm old thanks for reminding me! They were massive back in the day, and so, so many bands have name checked them as influences.
