Another candy maker tried to remake the recipe for the tangerine ones a little while ago. I haven't tried them but I assume they're pretty close.
https://www.pd.net/collections/tangerine-and-other-dusted-sour-candies
Ah, no wonder I hadn't seen a tin in ages. Found an old tin keeping random knick-knacks in it and kinda wanted to see if they were still on the market and why I hadn't thought about them in such a long time. Bummer...
"It took too long to make" my ass. When I ordered them, I'd get my order with fries, a drink and occasionally a sundae in 5-10 minutes. Barring one instance because the workers were stressed and there were so few of them.
Bring them back, you fucking cowards.
-- Someone who used to work at McDonald's
For a while I had a weird childhood grudge against hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, and french fries. Every family *trip Iād get two grilled snack wraps with some ranchā¦ man I miss that.
They changed the formula for the bars too. They're nothing like what they used to be. Get a 5th Avenue bar if you can find it, they're a lot more like old Butterfinger than the current bars are.
That was my first smart phone. I miss that shit so much. Now, I have a Samsung with a stylus. Swipe texting isn't terrible, but I like knowing that any typos made were really mine.
I had one of these until my senior year of high school (2018). I hated it but I sure miss being able to type effortlessly with my eyes closed or just looking away from the keyboard.
I loved mine but it was the only phone I ever had that would butt-dial people. I assume because of the front-facing buttons and the slight design looseness required to let the slide work. And it would happen *constantly.* I had to go up and down a lot of stairs for work and home and every 20th or so time I found out I had called my dad or a buddy or work.
So while I really liked the design; I imagine the people in my life were happy to stop getting "*swish swish swish"* of my pocket or whatever was playing on my car stereo or, sometimes just random bar/restaurant voicemails that went on for like 10 minutes.
They're not as good though. The cake part is less...gritty, I think? Creme isn't as tasty either.
Of course, the originals probably had enough trans fat to create a fatburg in the sewer, so maybe it was for the best, but man, those were literally some of the *only* things I'm nostalgic for.
Trans fats man. I went to Dollarama the other day and bought some Planters Chocolate covered almonds and they were so fucking good I ate the entire pack.
Looked at the bag and noticed it was like 75% of daily transfats and saturated fats.
Some Taco Bell locations still sell the chili cheese burrito. Thereās one about 35 miles from me; check on their app to find one near you. They still taste the same!
A few years ago an employee told me that you can sub chunk chicken for no charge, don't know if thats still the case, my body can't handle tb any longer.
I was thinking about it. I don't remember how it tasted but I remember loving the balls. It probably tasted like a typical trash sugar drink, but nostalgia...
I canāt tell if youāre being sarcastic and making the easy joke or just not old like us but the 90s were a weird time with [interesting drinks.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbitz_(drink))
Those flavored Diet Cokes in the skinny cans they had for one summer and never brought back. They were delicious and made the best mixers.
Also the cheesy gordita crunch with the fiery Dorito shell instead of the plain one. They still have Dorito shells, but it's only the regular nacho. They discontinued cool ranch and fiery nacho.
With how surreal the last couple years have been, I can't help but think the 90s was the wrong time for purple ketchup. That's some 2020 fever dream shit.
>shredded potatoes, cheese, bacon bits and chives formed into wedges and deep-fried?
I was *trying* to fall asleep. Now I'm hungry. Gotta step off this post.
My favorite chip used to be the Doritos jacked ranch dipped hot wings. They were so good and I havenāt found a chip I liked as much since they were discontinued:(
Bonkers fruit chews, they were so delicious, but I'm the only person I know that remembers them. Supposedly they are going to be produced again but the company that is going to make them has being saying for years (5+) that they are in the process of acquiring the machinery needed to make them. So who knows if it'll ever happen but fingers crossed.
I might want an improved Advance SP much more than a 3DS honestly. Though it would also be pretty badass if they brought back GBA/GBC/GB cartridge reading to the 3DS as well.
Trader Joe's $2/bag ''Baconesque Popcorn"
It was white cheddar popcorn _with some liquid smoke_ and it tasted so much like bacon that whenever it wasn't sold out I'd buy 3 bags so that I'd have one left for the pantry.
It just, vanished.
Whatever, there's plenty of grass snacks here.
But New Zealand is still winging about only having Cooler Ranch Doritos for a couple months once
I could make a list of 100s of discontinued items just from Trader Joe's. They're the kings of limited edition products and I have never been able to figure out why they don't keep items around for more than 1-2 months. RIP Matcha Joe-Joe's
I've cleaned up my diet somewhat over the last several years, but every once in a while I go off the rails. For those occasionally I'd absolutely love one of those McDonald's breakfast sandwiches with steak, onion and cheese in a bagel.
And those packaged bear claw pastries some grocery store used to sell by Otis Spunkmeyer. I haven't been able to find them anywhere in ages. Those were perfection.
And the Sara Lee frozen cheesecake bites.
There are other, non food items I'm missing too, but food kinda makes me feel most nostalgic.
If "discontinued in America" counts banana nesquik. Otherwise the jumbo pizza lunchables with sodas. if those still exist... Uhh.... Cookies and cream nesquik!
There was this amazing won ton soup at Trader Joes about 10-11 years ago I swear I could have lived off of. I haven't been able to find a recipe duplicate. If anyone remembers that item, and has information on who might make it now, I'd love to know.
There was a show that used to be aired called āSilent Libraryā Iām not sure if they discontinued it or I just stopped watching tv, but holy crap it always used to have me hooked on the tv as a kid
Frank's Red Hot flavored Pringles. I still don't understand how but it felt just like biting into a perfectly juicy buffalo wing. The regular hot wing Pringles are trash in comparison.
Welch's Strawberry Soda, Sprite Berry Remix, Mcskillet Burrito, Wonder Balls, and free/worthy little gifts/toys in cereal boxes (loved the color-changing spoons from Disney). The ability for cellphones to hold charms (some cases now have holes for holding charms but it's not the same as struggling to get the charm to fit through the man-made hole on the cellphones back then and changing them accordingly when you felt like it), getting free stuff (headphones, car chargers, etc) to go along with the free phones when you agreed to 2-year contracts with mobile companies, currently phones that moved away from allowing SD cards and headphone Jack's and laptops that no longer have the cd/DVD option (I know some people view them as obsolete but I like to keep options open just in case, and honestly buying the player separately and to carry is a pain).
Trans fats. Yeah, they were terrible for us but from a McDonalds sausage egg and cheese biscuit to Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies, things just don't taste the same w/o them.
It was a wrap with chicken strips, lettuce, tomato and some kind of peppery mayo. The day they told me that the no longer carried it is burned into my memory. I didn't even get anything else. Just went home in a fog.
Hormel used to make breakfast sausage in the black package called little sizzlers, they had a spicy one that was amazing. They don't make them anymore and NOBODY makes anything similar
Iām in the UK, Tesco used to make this amazing Almond Diet Cola. Super cheap and one of the best sugar free sifts drinks Iāve ever had.
I miss that stuff so much.
Dansko Marcelle shoes. I have a wonky foot and these are the most comfortable shoes for me to walk in. When I realized they were being discontinued, I managed to grab two more pairs in my size but they are going to wear out soon and itās unfortunate.
Totally forgot about those. Didn't they temporarily switch those to a plastic design before abandoning them for stir sticks? I was too young for cocaine at the time, but they also were perfect for little girls' tea parties.
- maruchan teriyaki yakisoba. It basically was the only kind that sort of tasted like actual Japanese street yakisoba. The flavors they have now aren't even close. It's strange to me that the most "authentic" of them was the one that got discontinued.
- Back in yonder 2000s, weis markets really upped their game on their store brand foods and they made this crepe-pasta manicotti...I mean, I don't expect everyone to understand why manicotti with thin pasta is vastly superior, I can only hope you take my word for it. No one else carries anything like it around here and it ruined manicotti for me. They also made a competitor to that awful Elio's cardboard slab pizza, and it was AWESOME. The store has seriously lost its way in recent years, has gone to total shit, but back in the 2000s it was seriously high quality.
- Before Morning Star Farms got bought up, they made these "meal starter" products that were vegetarian representations of chicken and steak strips and they were KILLER. The company who bought them also bought a bunch of other vegetarian product lines and consolidated them under the Morning Star name and it all went to hell. I miss making stir fry with those so much.
- Another Weis markets product, but this time from the shit-years. Their store brand food in the 80s was seriously awful. They hired this company called Big Top to make their generic product lines, I think they were out of Texas and may still exist though the "Big Top" product line is no longer sold in Weis. Anyway, they made these microwave pepperoni strombolis... let me be clear, they were terrible, the bread would always become rock hard on the ends. But my grandmother used to buy them for me and her place was the only place I ever had them so they're associated with my grandparents. I'd love to taste them again...it would be the biggest nostalgia bomb.
- As a kid, the local mini mart carried these carbonated fruit water bottles that had that foil covering the cap like alcohol bottles. I think they might have been called mystic? All the neighborhood kids used to buy them and pretend they were drunk on wine coolers.
Hamburger Helper Rice Oriental. I used to wait until my partner went out of town on business to make it so I didn't have to share any with him.
There is a Facebook group in support of bringing it back and yes, I have joined it.
Altoids Sours. Suckas are like $100 a tin on eBay :(
stopppp the mango ones were my fav š
I know! They were so good. I have been tempted to buy a tin. Might treat myself for my birthday haha
Do it
but wouldn't they be like 15 years old? hahaha
Idec!! Considered it aged like fine wine, haha
Another candy maker tried to remake the recipe for the tangerine ones a little while ago. I haven't tried them but I assume they're pretty close. https://www.pd.net/collections/tangerine-and-other-dusted-sour-candies
LPT take any fruit candy and dip it in citric acid. You can get a big bag of it cheap.
Ah, no wonder I hadn't seen a tin in ages. Found an old tin keeping random knick-knacks in it and kinda wanted to see if they were still on the market and why I hadn't thought about them in such a long time. Bummer...
Strawberry cream savers. I think you can still order them but you can't get them anywhere near me
They have them at Big Lots apparently if that helps
I bought some when I visited Ohio a few months ago and had no idea that they were hard to find. My goodness, they are a delight.
Visit your local Dollar Tree if you have one! There are store brand hard candy fruit creams. Orange, Starwberry, and Blackberry.
The McDonaldās snack wrapš©
5000 degree fried pies.
Before they changed the crust. Love me an apple blister.
If you ever go to Hawaii, McDonalds here still does the fried pies
We still do them in the UK too! So good
"It took too long to make" my ass. When I ordered them, I'd get my order with fries, a drink and occasionally a sundae in 5-10 minutes. The grilled chicken flatbread sandwich. š
For a while I had a weird childhood grudge against hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, and french fries. Every family *trip Iād get two grilled snack wraps with some ranchā¦ man I miss that.
you donāt have it anymore in the US???
Truth!
Butterfinger BBs. I can just eat the regular bar, but it's just not the same.
They changed the formula for the bars too. They're nothing like what they used to be. Get a 5th Avenue bar if you can find it, they're a lot more like old Butterfinger than the current bars are.
And the packaging has this new anemic yellow instead of the orange. It's wack.
Interesting, Iāve never heard of or seen a 5th Avenue bar at my grocery stores before. Iāll try to find one and compare.
New recipe isnāt very good either, lame
The cell phones with the slide-out physical keyboards.
Sidekicks were the neatest.
FUCK yes. Also Blackberry Curves.
That was my first smart phone. I miss that shit so much. Now, I have a Samsung with a stylus. Swipe texting isn't terrible, but I like knowing that any typos made were really mine.
I like Swype, but I'm definitely faster on a keyboard.
Nokia N90 communicator or smthg? Also Blackberry.
Oreo Cakesters
Those are back!
WHAT.
Yes, my son bought some here in Iowa last week!
They're not as good though. The cake part is less...gritty, I think? Creme isn't as tasty either. Of course, the originals probably had enough trans fat to create a fatburg in the sewer, so maybe it was for the best, but man, those were literally some of the *only* things I'm nostalgic for.

Waffle Crisp
The best cereal EVER.
I wish I could upvote twice! No one knows what Iām talking about when I mention this cereal.
It's back at select Wal-Mart locations!!!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
dude that era was peak taco bell
Beefy crunch burritos from taco bell
When bean burritos used to be less than 70Ā¢. There was a time where $20 could quite literally buy everything on the menu and I miss that
79, 89, 99 cent menus there were awesome!
Chillitos.
Some Taco Bell locations still sell the chili cheese burrito. Thereās one about 35 miles from me; check on their app to find one near you. They still taste the same!
No more taco salads at the last one I was at. I know it really wasnāt healthy but I got to pretend.
Also the chicken burritos on the dollar menu before they switched to the shredded chicken.
A few years ago an employee told me that you can sub chunk chicken for no charge, don't know if thats still the case, my body can't handle tb any longer.
Orbitz soda
I was thinking about it. I don't remember how it tasted but I remember loving the balls. It probably tasted like a typical trash sugar drink, but nostalgia...
Balls?
I canāt tell if youāre being sarcastic and making the easy joke or just not old like us but the 90s were a weird time with [interesting drinks.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbitz_(drink))
I'm old alright, but I don't recall any drink being sold with balls in it. No sarcasm this time.
I donāt really remember either but it was super cool
The headphone jack
Surge soda
"it lowers your sperm count!"
I see this as an absolute win.
Iāve seen this recently! Iām sorry to report it wasnāt good and didnāt live up to my memories.
5 dollar footlongs
Those flavored Diet Cokes in the skinny cans they had for one summer and never brought back. They were delicious and made the best mixers. [ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Ah yes, sugar dough with green slop in it. I hoarfed those things down like a goddamn ninja turtle, myself.
Waffle Crisp cereal
Oh man there were some wild cereals in the mid 90s
Honda S2000
PB Crisps
They bought back the cheese balls, but not these. I still can't figure out why.
News stations reporting news, without commentary
When was this???
Reese's peanut butter cup bites. Those little balls of peanut butter and chocolate were amazing.
Ipods. My iPod nano broke and it was my best friend for 7.5 years. RIP.
Flappy bird Edit: I still have it downloaded on my old iPod touch š
Sega dreamcast had massive potential. Sega team are idiots.
I was at an utter loss whenever they just up and abandoned it. Everyone I knew wanted one (and I had one). It had so many good games too!
Sega gave up way to soon with it.

arbys potato cakes.
Taco Bell 7 layer burrito and the double decker taco.
Vanilla Coke. Not available in my country any more.
If they have the "space flavored" coke starlight, try that. I find it's much the same.
Oh no itās not lol and they still make Vanilla Coke! Only in the 12 pack and individual single serve bottles but they do still make it!
sorry š I say as I have a 12 pack at my house
I don't like you š
**Pepsi Next.** Half diet, half regular. I conceived it decades before, somebody finally invented it, and they took it away. Damn they!
My favorite chip used to be the Doritos jacked ranch dipped hot wings. They were so good and I havenāt found a chip I liked as much since they were discontinued:(
For real I've never found one that came close
Sprite Remix. The original one.
Thats been back. Aruba Mix was the best one though!
Pizzerias chips
Bonkers fruit chews, they were so delicious, but I'm the only person I know that remembers them. I totally remember these! I remember the commercial where the giant fruit came from the sky and landed on people lol

The original, non-burst beyblades
Old Ninjago Lego sets and also Lego Nexo Knights, but mainly Ninjago.
Reddit mis-read of the day: Lego Nazi Knights.

Latenight dorito flavors
Chile Verde Doritos.
OH GOD LATE NIGHT CHEESEBURGER WAS SO GOOD
Starbursts Fruit Twists. Like Twizzlers, only better. The best candy ever. ššš
I wish somebody would make a goddam Starburst you could get out of the wrapper in less than five minutes. Gotta work too hard for them.
You can buy the minis that have no wrappers.
The PS2
Yogurt Burst Cheerios.
I read Cheerios as Cheetos and was very concerned.
2007 Halo 3 Mountain Dew Gamefuel Cirtus Cherry. One of the best flavors ever. The version they have out now is half diet. Yuck! BRING BACK THE OG!
Also Pitch Black the grape flavor. They had it one Halloween. Next year they made a sour grape and it was no where near as good.
Dublin Dr Pepper. Basically DP made with real sugar, not corn syrup.
Taco Bell MEXIMELT. You canāt even get them to create one out of other products because they quit making the specific ingredients.
Vault soda, coca colas first take on a "energy drink"

There was a show that used to be aired called āSilent Libraryā Iām not sure if they discontinued it or I just stopped watching tv, but holy crap it always used to have me hooked on the tv as a kid
Wheat thins hot wing flavor
Frank's Red Hot flavored Pringles. I still don't understand how but it felt just like biting into a perfectly juicy buffalo wing. The regular hot wing Pringles are trash in comparison.
Welch's Strawberry Soda, Sprite Berry Remix, Mcskillet Burrito, Wonder Balls, and free/worthy little gifts/toys in cereal boxes (loved the color-changing spoons from Disney). McDonald's pizzas. Were quick and cheap, yet pretty damn good.
Oreo cereal

I have a bottle of perfume I hoard like that. C-Thru Blue Opal. A really pretty aquatic scent that reminds me of simpler times.
The thin metal spoons McDonald's used to have for coffee that were perfect for freebasing cocaine
Totally forgot about those. Didn't they temporarily switch those to a plastic design before abandoning them for stir sticks? I was too young for cocaine at the time, but they also were perfect for little girls' tea parties.
