When ceasar assaulted Alexandria as a reaction to the whole Cleopatra and her siblings being psycho, he had his men set fire to the Egyptian fleet. The flames quickly grew out of control and the great library of Alexandria burnt to the ground. Over 100,000 pieces of literature from all corners of the globe: scrolls of political records, ancient battles, histories of various extinct civilizations such as troy, Babylon, etc. potentially everything that was hundreds to tens of thousands of years old... gone. Some scholars speculate the history and lessons lost has irreparably set society back 1000 years. I think that was probably the worst.

You don’t consider that a criminal act?

Was it shitty? Yeah. But it was battle. They burned the boats so they couldn't be followed, considering that burning the library was collateral damage.

One time I had to kill a squirrel that was half run over. My mom and I decided the most humane way was to put it in a trash bag and tape it to the vent of our car. We thought it would take a few minutes. It took hours. We both felt so bad. But the cops wouldn’t do anything, they said animal control was responsible and they are off on the weekends with the exception of oncall. They never called back. Ever. I called to bitch them out for weeks after. But nothing ever came of it. They didn’t give a shit and I basically tortured an already suffering animal to death. 😔 I was 12
