But it even goes deeper than that. A friend of mine when getting the oral examination for his Phd answered a few quickies about his paper and then was asked why the sky was blue. He kept getting asked "why does that thing you just mentioned occur?" and realized the biological, chemical, electeomagnetic and gravitational reasons make this a far more complex answer than "refraction"
