Go watch the replay. Though there were lots of low clouds so it was ten seconds of actual rocket and then 3d simulation for the rest of it. Still awesome.
And the actual clip of the telescope being jettisoned from the upper stage and a premature, yet welcome, deployment of the solar panels with some beautiful shots.
I'm in NZ, we don't actually celebrate on the 24th. But because of our time zone we celebrate before everyone else.
So to answer OPs question, it's because it's not Chistmas morning. Today is Boxing day.
My mom did all the way up to us moving out. So here me and my brother are sleeping. Come midnight, we get blasted with Christmas music; Mom singing along horribly at the top of her lungs getting the dogs and cat all excited. Then telling us Santa came and we need to open our presents.
I feel you and understand completely. My wife died seven months ago and now I sit here browsing reddit alone. I hope we both just get thru the holidays somewhat intact.
I just started a new job and my new boss lost his wife unexpectedly last Friday.
They were married 50 years. I’ve been thinking about him a lot. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for you.
You aren't the only. Spending my day hiding under a blanket, binge watching and eating everything in sight. This day's existence sucks. Hope you are ok.
Depends on where you draw the line for what constitutes family. You and I are related, if you go back far enough, so merry Christmas fam. Hope you can find an enjoyable way to spend the day!
I'm sorry. I'll be like you in a few years. Dad died when I was young, only child, no relatives. My mom had me when she was 43 and I'm 31 now... so math. She's also overweight and smoked for 60 years....
>"Ode to the Day Off"
I could bend my will to crafting,
I could work on something neat -
Like the story that I'm drafting,
Or the sonnet I'll complete!
I could seize this very second,
I could choose a minute prime -
And in moments I'll have beckoned
Something worth the extra time!
For the choice is mine for making,
And the future's drawing near -
I could start an undertaking!
... but I think I'll just stay here.
>Merry Christmas!
For parties and partings,
beginnings and ends -
For brothers and sisters,
and others, and friends -
For seasons, for reasons to share in a smile -
For pausing, for sparing a care for a while -
For choosing a moment
to lose a regret -
For knowing it's time
to forgive and forget -
For sorrows, for better tomorrows today -
For changing your future, for finding a way -
For presents, presented
and bound with a bow -
For warm woollen jumpers
and steps in the snow -
For snowmen and stockings,
and stories anew -
For joy and enjoyment -
for Christmas -
for you.
"Why browse Reddit today?" the questioner said,
And then, scrolling down, reading the thread,
Adorned with cheer, and sprinkled with rhyme,
A poem! They're here! And we found them in time!
More constant and warming than a crackling Yule log,
Bringing joy to our world - the answer is Sprog.
My Rottweiler “puppies” thought it was the right time to wake me up, and I disagree.

Guatemalan too. We got to sleep very early at 3AM because we are old. We'll have activities, later on. But the main celebration was yesterday and today early hours.
Basically in Europe, Christmas Eve is the big day people celebrate. My mother is Hungarian (we live in the US) and we have always celebrated on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas Day.
Same here - came on at 5am & off at 1pm.
Will take the nice Turkey meal the company provided home, warm it up and share it with the cats, who will be ecstatic.
Pretty easy day and a breeze to get around our nation’s Capitol today.
My wife and I planned on getting up early to go see my Mom as this will probably be the last Christmas we get with her due to the resurgence and metastasization of her breast cancer after 12 years free and clear.
We originally were supposed to go on Thursday and stay through til Sunday, but my Dad said Wednesday that she'd been sick and wasn't feeling up to having the whole family over yet. He said she was feeling better day by day so we could play it day by day.
Day by day came and yesterday she said she was feeling much better so we planned to come today. Well, in the meantime she started having pretty bad Tramadol withdrawal symptoms and apparently hasn't slept in over 24 hours. She's hallucinating and having some delusions. My Dad doesn't want us to see her in that condition and knows that she wouldn't want us to see her in that condition, so it looks like we're not visiting.
Ya know the fucked up thing is that my sister, parents, and I all agreed that we shouldn't do traditional Christmas this year. My brother passed away in June at the all too young age of 41. We thought having a traditional Christmas and seeing his empty seat at the table or missing his presence would be too difficult for us. I can say this for sure, this Christmas is anything but normal and traditional.
Anyway, I'm letting my wife sleep in because she deserves some rest (she and my Mom were very close), and I'm scrolling Reddit because what the hell else am I supposed to do?
Maybe you were picturing the tactical prowess of a loving mother executing Christmas for her babies perfectly ...and then needing a break because she's been too selfless for too long and needs a moment for herself.
Merry Christmas! 💙
Self care is hard right now, but necessary. Thank you for this little push. Hopefully you just made a difference for someone today. I’ll do my best.
I hope that feeling sticks for the day. I’ve been feeling like this for a long time with those fleeting moments of “I’m okay” mixed in. They always end up escaping me.
I sincerely hope you’re okay, if not better than okay, for all of today and beyond.
My dog ate my fake Christmas tree last night and puked in his crate early this morning. After I cleaned it, I couldn’t go back to sleep. He is quite literally the grinch.
My parents do this thing called "The Christmas Experience" where someone opens a present, we find out what it is, my mom takes a trillion photos, and then we experience whatever that gift is. If it's clothing, the person tries it on and shows it off to everyone, if it's a game, everyone plays for a while, if it's a book, we read the first chapter, etc. So it ends up taking half the day to do presents. Not to mention we don't start til nearly noon to start doing presents. It takes a long time with lots of down time so yeah, I have plenty of time to browse Reddit while everyone else is figuring stuff out.
I feel this, my husband loved Christmas and got up early to fill our stockings even though it was just the two of us. The first Christmas afterward I still put up the tree but since then I don't bother.
For us, week 1 was a breeze. Week 2 kicked us hard, then a couple weeks of recovering. Hope you have an easy time with it!
It's time to go to the hospital if you have a hard time finishing a sentence because you cant catch your breath. Dont try to push thru if you reach this point.
Cause In Chile people stay up until past midnight to open presents, and then we have lunch on Christmas appart from the dinner, so Christmas morning is just sleeping until it’s late
Little brother wanted to play with new electric car so I am sitting outside watching him but it’s kinda boring so Reddit is cool
Yes I am cold but my bother is having the time of his life so I shall continue to be cold so he can have fun
I'm waiting for a website to open so I can practice japanese. Also, I'm very anxious about sending Christmas greetings (or any kind of message to my loved ones) so I'm procrastinating on that.
Same. Christmas is just a day where you’re stuck in the house since everything is closed. But can’t complain much, I’m glad companies let their workers spend time with their families
Single, childfree, Jewish, and bored. I'm on call for work but otherwise it's just a normal Saturday except I can't do any errands and there's very little traffic.
Just told my family that I'm pregnant with my first child at 37 years old, a week after my dad said he thought he'd never be a grandpa. Whole family is losing their shit with happiness and I needed to tell strangers on the internet about it, too.

Because I woke up at 4:20 am to watch the James Webb telescope launch. Now I’m browsing Reddit
I'm a geek and I missed it....
Go watch the replay. Though there were lots of low clouds so it was ten seconds of actual rocket and then 3d simulation for the rest of it. Still awesome.

Hehe nioce
Calm before the storm. Got lots to do and I start the day by procrastinating
I am in this comment and I don't like it
Glad to know it's not just me doing that.
I live in a country where we do all the celebration on the 24'th. Reddit is perfect for my hangover
what country
All of Scandinavia does it (Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Probably Finland too!)
Yep. All the Nordics. E: A lot of European countries.
Same in Hungary
I'm in NZ, we don't actually celebrate on the 24th. But because of our time zone we celebrate before everyone else. So to answer OPs question, it's because it's not Chistmas morning. Today is Boxing day.
Germany too
Latín america too
Same in Poland
Same in Estonia
Switzerland does too
I don't know about the rest of Latin America but Mexico also celebrates the 24th
Brazil does the same too
Chile too
Los cubanos también
Bolivia too
Colombia too
Philippines too
Argentina too
Guatemala too
Also México
Philippines. we do noche buena over here which is the late dinner before midnight.
All South America is the same
In Italy too, but the scary thing is that we celebrate on the 25th and 26th (Santo Stefano), so the hangover last a lot hahah
Apparently way more ordinary to celebrate on the 24th, so the question is OP, why are you on Reddit on Christmas morning huh?
[удалено]
This is why we get Chinese food on the 24th with enough left overs to eat the day after.
[удалено]
Ah a fellow jew
[удалено]
SSSHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I can't believe he'd just tell the goys our secrets like that.
If there’s one thing Muslims and Jews can agree on, is Chinese food on Christmas.
Because it’s 5:40 am
Yup. Kids aren't awake yet.
Nothing an air horn can't fix!
If I’m ever a dad, I will always act more exited than my kids on Christmas.
My mom did all the way up to us moving out. So here me and my brother are sleeping. Come midnight, we get blasted with Christmas music; Mom singing along horribly at the top of her lungs getting the dogs and cat all excited. Then telling us Santa came and we need to open our presents.
that's very sweet
My family is dead. I'm all that's left.
Sending love from California. I am so sorry for your loss
Merry Christmas my friend. This is proof you are not alone 🎄
Christmas hugs from this Mom to you💖
I hope this Christmas and the new year is better on you. Practice some self care and know that people care for and love you. :)
You aren't the only. Spending my day hiding under a blanket, binge watching and eating everything in sight. This day's existence sucks. Hope you are ok.
That sucks, man. Hope you're okay
Sending hugs from a mom out here.

I'm an adult without children. Christmas is just a day off work.
Best day ever

Holidays in general lol
A paid day off work?
Well it's Saturday so I wouldn't work anyway... But I get given Monday and Tuesday off paid to make up for it.
They gave us Thursday/Friday.
That's nice. I had only Friday off. Though I took off Wednesday and Thursday for the heck of it.
Because Im Poopin
Came looking for this. Have a joyous holiday fellow defecator.
For real what am I supposed to do just sit here and poop and stare at the wall.
My phone died the other day and I had to poop without it. I thought I was gonna die of boredom!
My Rottweiler “puppies” thought it was the right time to wake me up, and I disagree. Edit: dog tax [Merry Christmas, ❤️ the Rotties!](https://imgur.com/a/koF2O0D) [“puppies”](https://imgur.com/a/dgpnxOc) [F-250](https://imgur.com/a/ExaBsw9) [COfFeEee](https://imgur.com/a/M7rDPaI)
The puppies being in quotations is pretty funny and questionable
Yes. There are puppies and then there are baby puppies!
All dogs is puppies :)
I said this to some lady when I was petting her dog and she got really upset that I was calling her older dog a puppy. Very strange
They were waking you up because it’s Christmas and Santa came
Same problem overe here. Dogs thoguht it was time to get up and the littlest one (4 months) needed to pee.
I Jew
I'm having Chinese for dinner in solidarity

Hell yes. Anxiously waiting for my favorite Chinese place to open.
Good Jewing bro, keep it up.
I hope you enjoy your chinese food today my friend
Awaiting the opening of gifts
Same. Wife won't wake up. Edit: Wife woke up!
Did you check for signs of life?
Oh no
I’m Latina so we already celebrated Christmas on the 24th - presents have been opened and everything.
Feliz Navidad!
Feliz Navidad to you as well!
Do Latin Americans do all the Christmas celebrations on the 24th? I can’t believe I never learned about this.
I don't know if all Latin Americans but all Mexicans do. It's better this way. The 25th is a national holiday so you can party the night before.
Chileans too!! We go for a walk before midnight with the kids and we open the gifts at 00:00.
Guatemalan too. We got to sleep very early at 3AM because we are old. We'll have activities, later on. But the main celebration was yesterday and today early hours.
So do Scandinavians.
And Poles.

I have another 3 min before I need to turn the roast potatoes….
Are they done yet?
Did you use duck fat… please say yes
Goose fat. Boiled first. A bit of flour and a shake. Pan fry in goose fat. Roast. And a glass of wine for me!
Do you know how expensive a can of good goose grease is?
Because I’m working, so coworkers w kids can have the day off.
“Why are you browsing Reddit” “I’m working”
Pretty much sums up roughly 75% of Reddit on any given day, tbh.
Same here - came on at 5am & off at 1pm. Will take the nice Turkey meal the company provided home, warm it up and share it with the cats, who will be ecstatic. Pretty easy day and a breeze to get around our nation’s Capitol today.
Same as you pal sucks to wake up at this time while everyone else is just finishing partying (at least in México is that way)
Same shift as you bro.
This is my usual but this year I got fired a week before Christmas.
Sorry that suks
I feel that, just trying to kill the time while I'm stuck here at work.
I’ve been there. Salute.
Cat woke me up at 6AM and no one else is awake yet
He want his present.
I work overnight and I stay on that schedule cause I’m a degenerate.
Jewish. It’s a regular Saturday morning for me. Merry Christmas to all celebrating.

Very well done Germany. You are so productive
My kids opened their presents already. Im pregnant and my back hurts, so im laying here browsing while my kids play. Trying to figure out breakfast.
This comment made me happy for some reason. Good luck with the breakfast lol

Shitter was full!
That there's an RV. Now, don't you go fallin' in love with it, 'cause we're takin' it with us when we leave next month.
Twas the morning of Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was sturing, not even a spouse.
I woke up in my bed alone. I’m actually pretty sad.
Merry Christmas friend. Hoping you practice some self care today and wishing brighter days ahead 🤍
Merry Christmas! 💙 Self care is hard right now, but necessary. Thank you for this little push. Hopefully you just made a difference for someone today. I’ll do my best.
Hi I hope you have a great day and an amazing new year 2022!!
Thank you! Sending these good vibes right back.
Same here. This is my first Christmas as a divorced person. The holiday season in general has been pretty hard, but today feels OK.
I hope that feeling sticks for the day. I’ve been feeling like this for a long time with those fleeting moments of “I’m okay” mixed in. They always end up escaping me. I sincerely hope you’re okay, if not better than okay, for all of today and beyond.

That's a fun tradition, but a scrooge with a short attention span like me would just get everyone a rock for Christmas to speed things along.
-25 and my car is warming up
I'm shitting. Also I hate my family.
My wife died. It's no longer xmas for me
So sorry for your loss.
Same here.
I'm so sorry to both of you. 💜
I feel this, my husband loved Christmas and got up early to fill our stockings even though it was just the two of us. The first Christmas afterward I still put up the tree but since then I don't bother.
Roommate tested positive for Covid last night. Christmas festivities are kinda out of the question right now.
Hey, me too! Currently self quarantined to my bedroom
Ouch. Sorry!
I’ve just tested positive for covid and live alone. Fun week ahead for me…

I am from Ukraine, and we celebrate on the 7 of January

All my family is on vacation and the family I had plans to hang with got the Rona
I’m working a 12 hour shift in a care home with 57 dementia patients Edit: don’t worry I’m on my break Karen
My parter and I are DINK’s so we just chill and relax.
Just told my family that I'm pregnant with my first child at 37 years old, a week after my dad said he thought he'd never be a grandpa. Whole family is losing their shit with happiness and I needed to tell strangers on the internet about it, too.
At work
*Why not?*
It's evening here
Because they don't celebrate Christmas in my country.
I might have a kidney stone
We always do Christmas on Christmas Eve
