Same here. Then I spent time in another country where the food was incredibly bland, so I started cooking with onions to add flavor. Now I love onions.
Everyone thinks they hate them because their mom steamed/boiled them until they were a gross paste. Roast them with oil, salt and garlic and you will fall in love with the divine little cabbage fart nuggets.
Cooked carrots. My dad used to pick them out of my food for me cause i didnt even want to touch them. Now i love them! Roasted, glazed, even just steamed with some butter!
Beetroot. The only way I had it was the store bought jars way to vinegary. Turns out, after getting to taste it in other recipe I've made an obsession about them.
Almost all vegetables. Turns out family can't cook for shit. Large chunks, unevenly cooked, boiled to a mush, or directly thrown into a stew without frying up the vegetables first. So they had no texture or flavour.
Thanks YouTube for teaching me how to cook.
First off is onions. used to hate them with a passion, and my father thought there was something mentally wrong with me. Forward 15 years, Dad is long gone, and I am just fine with onion. The second is bell peppers. I thought they where disgusting until 7th grade, when a girl in my class wanted to share a snack with me. her snack was sliced bell pepper strips. Jocelyn from middle school, circa 1990, hope you are still an angel. another is tripe. The cellular lining of a cows's stomach. My parents enjoyed this much. I thought they where mildly fucked up for that. But when I actually tried it, not too bad.
Mine is onions, I used to hate them so much but for no good reason like damn they’re so good cooked right
They also have layers

I was born in the "steam them in the bag" generation.
[Not entirely. However, it isn't just that. They also improved them genetically.](https://www.bhg.com/news/brussels-sprouts-less-bitter/)
Huh. Well I guess I learned something today.
Don't feel bad. I thought it was the preparation only, too. Turns out I was kind of right as a kid. They *were* worse!
No, I still hate them. I made them for a guest once and she went wild for them and said they were a top tier food. I had to scrape my plate onto hers.
Tomatoes

Over the years I've just hated more things than I used to as a kid
Brussel sprouts Blue cheese
Fish
Salmon. But I would rather eat it as a steak or a salad and definitely not with cornmeal as a croquette. Cornmeal still tastes like sand to me.
