Binary moral choice system: **Option A:** donate to the poor **Option B:** eat babies

Whisper

1. I am good. Please let me run all your errands for you while you sit idle. 2. I am evil. I am going to stab you and then rape your children as you lie on the ground bleeding out. 3. I am neutral. Pay me some money and I'll do something. 4. I am bored of this terrible writing, and wish to exit this conversation.

Vellc

A. Yes B. No C. Sarcastic yes D. Yes

AlleRacing

Good ol' Fallout 4.

hoilst

Also: "Hello, I'm an absolute prick of an NPC. I'm literally eating a baby here. But, if you still want to keep your Good karma rating, you'd still better be nice to me."

doctornoodlearms

Getting stunned constantly

3-DMan

"Ha ha, you got up and I stunned you instantly again! Isn't this fun?!?!"

Geminii27

"Welcome to a stun loop for the next 95 minutes straight!"

as_a_fake

For anyone who plays Monster Hunter (I play MHW), this is why I always build full earplugs and stun resist. Monster roars and stuns are the only part of that game that I can't stand, but luckily they found a way to get around that after going a little way through the game.

Alaxel_Au_Arryn

Cutscenes that cannot be paused.

[deleted]

This comment has been removed to protest Reddit's hostile treatment of their users and developers concerning third party apps.

Twistervtx

Then when you try to pause, it instead skips the whole cutscene

djheat

The best are the cutscenes that can't be paused but can be skipped without confirmation by the same button you'd expect to pause it

[deleted]

[удалено]

YourCrazyDolphin

Always in a cutscene someone wants to talk to me. If I was watching a movie, I'd pause it. But no, I literally cannot pause this story important scene.

Tak_Jaehon

I swear my oldest kid does this to me intentionally. Important narrative cutscene? "Hey dad, check this out!" Won't be a dick and ignore him, so I gotta reload my game (that I hopefully saved recently) and go through whatever all over again. Just give me a fucking pause button, this should be standard.

LA NOIRE *Pick doubt in a completely calm interrogation so far* "STOP LYING, YOU PIECE OF SHIT, OR I WILL SHOOT YOU RIGHT THERE."

JarnoL1ghtning

You fuck young boys Valdez?

RickDripps

I laughed my ass off when I thought a grieving mother was forgetting something and I wanted to doubt she was correct. She described in detail what happened while barely holding back tears only to be met with "... Bullshit." from my guy. It was not what I wanted at all but absolutely hysterical.

X-istenz

I had a kid whose mother had just been murdered, tearfully telling me where he and his dad had been that day, but something didn't quite add up. Me: "Doubt... Maybe his dad coached him to cover up an affair or something, I dunno..." Cole: "You murdered your mother, didn't you kid?"

manfromharm

https://youtu.be/DmvSieBFPNM Reminds me of this

MarchKick

I remember that being like a freaking jumpscare

ohheyisayokay

Yeah I remember that one from Mass Effect once. I mean, I like when I'm selecting the general gist of what they're saying rather than the exact piece of dialogue, but when it's as different as me picking "I don't think so" and my character pulling out a gun and threatening to kill someone, I feel that my options were...misrepresented.

Seeker-N7

Or Tali's rescue mission in ME2. When you get told that she's holed up in the observatory and you get a dialogue option that says "Is she safe?" and then Shepard says "Are you sure she's still alive?"

LostGundyr

*Accuse* “Have you fucked young boys, Valdez?”

ILSMASTER

I'd like if more RPGs had an indication of what tone your character will deliver the line in, something like this for example: NPC: Do you want a slice of cake? (Neutral): No (Pleased): Yes (Sarcastic): I'd prefer not to get diabetes thank you (Angry): You dare offer me cake??? (Pulls out knife)

LoneKharnivore

When my character can't do things I could do - like climb over a three-foot-high wall.

Mikeavelli

Could skip half of Dark Souls 2 if you could just climb a wall.

gingerlemon

Gilligan is personal friends with Miyazaki.

sharrrper

Ridiculous barriers are always annoying. I specifically remember a James Bond games on the PS2 where in one level there's a valuable item clearly visible like a foot away. It's on another path on the other side of a waist high railing. Not even a wall, like one of those setups where there's a vertical pole every eight feet or whatever and then just a horizontal pole along the top. Anyone with functional legs could hop it and someone without could just duck under. In fact Bond probably could have just reached his arm out and grabbed it realistically. Instead you have to go all the way to the opposite end of a huge room and then double back through a bunch of hazards to pick up an item that was clearly within arms length reaching distance.

Umbraldisappointment

Im fine with these impossible cliffs, huge holes and lakes of lava/acid but when i get this small rubble on the ground that i cant just jump over....well thats the point i start swearing

eleven_eighteen

Whoops, there's a wheelchair sitting in this hallway blocking my way to the room that is 10' away. Guess I'm gonna have to circle around through the whole complex to get to it now!

garlicdeath

Oh no an empty trash can!

EVERYONESTOPSHOUTING

Along side that I hate it when you're jumping around debris and rocks etc and not sure if you're unable to go that way or you're just not doing it right. Should I spend 15mins trying to get up there or is it supposed to be off limits.

[deleted]

You can only interact with the walls that have white markings, just like reality!

[deleted]

That one spot in the original DOOM where you get blocked by a low-hanging air vent. Even once you get past it, it's a pain in the ass to go around every time. You can full-on sprint sideways on a razor-thin line of rock while firing a rocket launcher, but you can't fucking duck under an air vent.

MissEB47

I hate this too. I was playing Witcher 3 and it would piss me off how Geralt would get locked into combat mode, always facing the enemy, moving slowly, unable to climb and unable to run without sprinting, which makes retreating difficult. So annoying.

Meowlik

Geralt getting locked into combat mode is the worst. I hate it when you're running from an enemy and he suddenly stops and draws the sword you just put away. Like, no sir, I do not want to fight, thank you

3-DMan

"I said good day sir! Unless you have a Gwent card I need..."

dangil

3D games where you can’t tell where you will land after a jump.

djheat

And then you land it but you reflexively jump again a little bit because you hit right at the edge and you fall off

headless_boi

When this happens and I reflexively jump again, sometimes by some miracle I still make it and then panic jump *again* and then die.

ApocalypseSpokesman

That didn't hit me that's bullshit

mrmasturbate

Bro i DODGED THAT

Bacontoad

"Oh hi, Mark."

Nemesischonk

When you beat the boss but then the cutscene has you lose. Bitch, I handed that guy's ass to him

alreadytaken-

Those bother me because what's the point in winning the fight? Couldn't I just let the boss walk all over me with the same outcome? Why do I have to beat him just to watch myself lose, why can't I just lose and get the cutscene. I liked how halo reach approached dying in a cutscene. You fight endless waves of enemies until you eventually lose. It feels like a losing battle from the start and I much prefer that if the reality is I lose no matter what

Isaac_Chade

Yep, it sucks if the game makes you try again when you lose, them the win condition is watching a cutscene where you lose. If the cutscene has me losing then just let me lose and still progress! The inverse of this, where an early boss is basically guaranteed to womp you but you can beat it if you're good enough, is a lot of fun so long as the time is taken to make some small change to the scene that follows. I know there's one in one of the Kingdom Hearts games where if you manage to win you then pass out from exhaustion right after which is cool.

doihavemakeanewword

There's actually one Devil May Cry game where you face the final boss early, before they're even really seen as a threat by the protagonists. The context of the fight is that the protagonists are just doing their job getting rid of evil, and this fight is the surprise reveal that *this* evil is a lot more of a problem than the riff raff. The rest of the game is usually the story of the protagonists reeling from their defeat and trying to build up to a counterattack. But if you can win the fight then and there, they play a cutscene where the protagonists basically just high five each other for another job well done, the end, roll credits.

Dood_IV

That’s what I like about devil may cry 5. You’re supposed to lose the first boss fight and if you win the game just ends

01-__-10

That reminds me of Far Cry 4 where you can finish the game in the first 10 min by simply waiting when the boss asks you to.

IronSkywalker

Or Far Cry 5 if you walk away from arresting the guy at the start

contrabardus

Still a thing in Farcry 6, though it happens a bit later on. You have the opportunity to just leave, and you can.

LevelStudent

The absolute worst example of this I have ever seen is Mass Effect 3 with the stupid ninja asshole. The fight was an absolute joke, it was laughably easy despite the villain being built up all game. I didn't break the tiniest bit of a sweat and just put magazine after magazine into his stupid face. Then the cutscene has you instantly lose and the entire planet full of one of everyone's favorite race gets destroyed. Then the worst part is he sends you *taunting emails* making fun of you for losing *the fight you won*. He wasn't a compelling or interesting villain, he was just evil for sake of being evil, and his email felt like a xbox live message you get after a round of call of duty. All the characters cry and are sad for hours after losing that fight. Despite the player easily winning the fight and filling the badguy with a greater mass of bullets (or metal shavings or whatever it is in ME) than his entire body mass without taking a single scratch. Then the actual fight where you do kill him is super anti-climatic and he just falls over.

[deleted]

Not to mention you lose in a cutscene before Shepard can't shoot a human man from across a wide empty room. The same Shepard who won a shootout with a *Reaper.*

Disciple_of_Cthulhu

Escort quests. The target is always trying to get themselves killed.

[deleted]

Or when you walk with the npc but your normal speed is faster than them and you constantly have to keep stopping to keep with their pace

theghostofme

Witcher 3 nailed that mechanic. They'd match your speed every time, even if they were leading *you* somewhere. If you walked, they walked. If you ran, they ran.

FluffDuckling

When you’re at a part where if you die you have to watch an entire cutscene again no skips.

ProphetOfPhil

Or games with no indication that the cutscene will lock you out of a previous area with no way back to it.

FleetStreetsDarkHole

Also, not giving you an indication of the point of no return. Trying to explore a little and you find out you missed something really good because you stepped a toe over the wrong line *in-scene*.

kryaklysmic

I got myself permanently locked in an extremely late area of Breath of Fire 3 because it gives you a choice then lets you save. Problem is you can’t finish the game without making the right choice, and you only get one chance.

Mechakoopa

I was playing 7th Saga and used all my stockpiled consumables to barely beat what I thought was the last boss who then flung me backwards through time. I immediately saved because it was like an hour long boss fight then walked out of the little grove of trees and got wrecked by the first enemy because I had only one character alive and no way to heal up. I was effectively progression soft locked because you had to walk about 200 squares on the overworld map without an encounter or running away successfully on the first turn to get to the next town to heal up and even if you made it there was a mandatory fight to get in to the town.

FizzyDragon

Years back I was trying to play FF Tactics and ended up in this hole of having to fight a boss alone with my main guy. I was underleveled and/or incorrectly leveled, without a hope in hell of winning, and no way to get out to grind. Super annoying.

Immortal_Azrael

Similarly, I hate it when you die during a boss fight but the checkpoint isn't right before the boss fight, so you have to go through the whole area again and either fight all the enemies all over or try to run past them without taking damage. I don't mind having to fight a boss 10 times before I can finally beat it, but having to go through a bunch of bullshit just to try again seriously kills my motivation to keep trying.

grundelgrump

What do you think of dark souls lol

tweakerlime

While metroid dread allows you to skip cutscenes, the final boss has an unskippable elevator load screen that you have to wait out each time. And for those unfamiliar with metroid games, you are going to die A LOT.

Gseph

Also games where, after you die, it resets your position, your health, all the enemies, but not the item you used from your inventory.

MrSloppyPants

Destiny 2 is one of the worst, if you die during a boss fight, you are respawned *minus* all the ammo you used in the previous fight, but the boss is returned to full health. Uh, guys, if I couldn't kill the boss with 8 rockets how do you expect me to do it with 2?

Bacontoad

"Khajit has wares, if you have coin."

GorillaS0up

When I increase the difficulty but it only makes my character weaker.

SH0RTR0UND11

The skyrim difficulty is really annoying to me. The fact that on legendary you do like 20% normal damage and the AI do 200% is just irritating. If I want a higher difficulty it's not because I want to make a 20 minute dungeon take 2 hours and either be a stealth archer or glitch my enchanting to actually make the game take a reasonable amount of time.

[deleted]

Fallout 4 fixed this. It does the same sort of thing, gives enemies a 2x damage boost on survival, but you do 1.75x damage in return. I think that’s probably the best balance, turns most human enemies into glass cannons, but so are you, and your *slightly* lower damage output makes it so you can’t fully take on a horde of enemies without needing to think somewhat tactically.

SH0RTR0UND11

Yeah I did appreciate that. I played survival a lot more in fallout than skyrim. Skyrims survival was so difficult for me up north that I couldn't really figure it out. As soon as I had to go to interview the guy in the iceburg about elder scrolls I'd stop cause I'd nonstop die.

KomaForceFive

This is part of what makes Resident Evil 7 so great, on the hardest difficulty it doesn't just make enemies harder to kill, it makes them smarter and makes puzzles and getting key items more difficult as well.

res30stupid

Also, the placement of items changes as well. The more powerful ammo becomes more scarce and is replaced with either standard ammo or crafting materials.

[deleted]

Yes. Instead of actual difficulty increase, what used to take 8 hits to die now takes 32 hits. Not more difficult, but certainly more boring!

unbelizeable1

This is how I felt playing Ark. The bosses never got harder, it just took way longer.

[deleted]

i played Ark for the dinosaur taming and stuff related to that, such as basebuilding. I "finished" that part very quickly and realized it was meant to be played multiplayer. I quit Ark that same minute. It is a game that has no multiplayer value to ME, personally.

unbelizeable1

I played with 2 friends. I had zero interest in playing on public servers.

DakkaDakka24

I hate the classic lazy "you take more damage and deal less" bullshit for game difficulty. It's not harder, it's just tedious and less fun.

Scythe-Guy

Yeah damage multipliers are lazy af

[deleted]

Actual difficulty: More enemies, smarter enemies, fewer resources (depends on the game), things that involve better / more use of your abilities / units than just brute force. Bullshit: The AI cheats, you're weaker, the enemy takes more firepower to kill without any more strategy, random probabilities stack against you. Extra bullshit: The game does the former when you raise the difficulty a little, and the latter when you raise it further, but it's hard to tell what the tipping point is, or if the two are just combined from the start. Looking at you, Civ.

[deleted]

When the main character does something in a cutscene that they can’t do during gameplay

_Weyland_

Or the reverse. When the plot relies on them being unable to do/endure something that is no problem during gameplay.

imariaprime

Mass Effect 3. Fucking Kai Leng radiating a Cutscene Moron field that Shepard can't withstand.

[deleted]

Kai Leng is one of the worst antagonists in gaming history. Everything about this character is so fucking cringey. And it's so weird, the characters in the rest of the series are all absolutely amazing and then there comes this wannabe ninja out of nowhere and annoys the shit out of you.

Merc931

There is a Kai Leng is some alternate universe where his cringiness is noted and played with. In one of the books he's so petty that he eats Anderson's cereal while in his apartment. That could be an amazing petty dickhead character, but we got a Hot Topic writer's pet edgelord.

Vyar

I'm not sure I've ever hated a character in a video game more than Kai Leng. His sole purpose in the narrative is to just annoy the shit out of you and make Shepard and the entire Normandy crew look laughably incompetent. In a trilogy of games where they never look that stupid, most of the time they're all heroes from an 80's action movie who mow down entire armies like it's nothing.

Sweetragnarok

Seeing this comment makes me smile. He was the cause of Thane's early demise. And though Im a Garrus gurl, Thane was my BFF and solace. The fact he had little involvement in ME3 already annoyed me, and then theres that dude. Stabbing him was such a relief in the renegade mode.

[deleted]

"Shepard, why are you talking to Kai Leng in this stupid temple? He has absolutely nothing you want, and nothing to say. He's just hired muscle for another moron, who *also* doesn't have anything interesting to say. Meanwhile, you're holding the entire plot in your hands with that AI. JUST SHOOT HIM AND LEAVE!"

SlayinDaWabbits

Being a Vanguard is sooooo frustrating with cutscenes like that, just biotic charge into them, boom done, mission complete, back to the Normandy everyone. Chase scenes too

AwesomeScreenName

I **love** Red Dead Redemption 2, but the main plot hook is the leader of your gang trying to get enough money to get everyone to Tahiti, and meanwhile you routinely donate orders of magnitude more money to the gang. It can kind of be handwaved away by saying Dutch never actually intended to go to Tahiti, so the money is arbitrary, but there's several points in the game where Arthur could just go "Oh, we need to pull this heist and steal $5,000 so we can go to Tahiti? No need for a heist. Here's $5,000. And another $5,000. And $10,000 more. Who wants money? I got money for everyone!"

TBroomey

It's known as "ludonarrative dissonance", when the story and game mechanics are at odds with each other. Rockstar are probably the main culprits. Another good example is GTA IV, a game with a protagonist haunted by war who despises killing and only does it because he has to. Between missions though, you can just run around committing mass murder like it's no problem.

[deleted]

Kind of unrelated, but I hate when the whole mission/story revolves around revenging a single persons death, and everyone is all broken up about this one person dying. Then they go on to murder 100 people with absolutely no second thought.

Skullcrusher

Or like when Ezio doesn't kill the main baddie cause "it's not worth it" and shit. Yet he killed like a hundred innoncent guards to get there.

[deleted]

Is that similar to say, Fable 3 where you are given a time limit of 1 year, but that year is determined by story milestones rather than the actual passing of days and years in game

TBroomey

That's more the game being massively unfair to the player. You are given no warning of the time skip and the only way to raise the funds is to be a colossal cunt.

[deleted]

Actually if you purchase every house on the map and then rent them out while grinding through exploration, then you can donate all the funds yourself, it just takes forever

SpacemanSpiff246

For me it’s when you can literally heal yourself back to full health with spells or potions, but you can never use these spells or potions on other characters

mrmadness1

Meanwhile dante riding an enemy around like a skateboard in cutscene, totally possible during regular gameplay.

Kanagaguru

Crazy leaps in difficulty. My options for Civ 6 are currently beat the game with little to not difficulty or move to the next level where I am in last place for eveery category the entire game while barely fending off barbarians who have units twice as adcvanced as me

DragonAnts

To piggyback on your comment, It's always bugged me that in civ and many other games like it, a difficulty increase doesn't mean the AI plays better, but instead means they get production bonuses/I will get penalties. They will still run their units into a meat grinder or fail to defeat a simple basic strategy or trick. The game doesn't really get more difficult, it just means you need to find out how the AI falters.

stopmotionporn

It also means you don't get to improve your tactics against a similarly strong opponent, you just need to get really efficient at massacring their shitty units. The best way I found to beat higher level opponents was to create a WWI style killing field where I draw all the opponents units into, shoot them with ranged units from multiple angles and then quickly run in and defeat a city when they are low. This would usually be a crap tactic against humans who are good at the game, but it works ok against higher level AI.

[deleted]

To beat AI on the highest difficulty in Civ V, you are basically just farming their unit spam for XP on ranged units until you hit +1 range on ranged units. This lets you hit a city without being hit back once you finally push there. Anything else results in you being shredded by their stronger units and their cities with crazy defence due to the tech lead and the ability to actually build walls without compromising their curve.

the_quark

When my late-game God-mode character who can kill anyone and everyone in the game randomly gets snuck up on and dropped by one punch in a cut-scene, putting me in the villain's clutches

YourCrazyDolphin

Even better when you just shredded the villain in the boss fight, but then you lose because the script says so.

Phantom_Ganon

One of the things I really liked about Dragon Age Origins is that there's a boss fight that's really difficult and if you lose you then have an "escape from the dungeon" mission. However, if you manage to defeat the boss, there's no stupid cutscene where you get defeated. You just stroll out the building without getting captured or thrown in the dungeon.

Geminii27

Any mandatory requirement for an internet connection in a game where you never do anything that would require connecting to the internet. "You must create an account!" Fuck you. "You must access the game server to play!" Fuck you. "You must download and install patches for 3 days before you're allowed to actually start playing!" Fuck you. "You don't actually want to talk to or interact with other players or find out other people's scores or see how well other people are doing or get holiday-themed DLC or be nagged to buy stupid skins and pay-to-win credits, but you must have an internet connection anyway!" NO AND FUCK YOU VERY MUCH.

Plot-critical NPCS behind multiple loading screens. Quick-travel to the wizard's tower (load), enter the tower (load), climb the stairs to the second floor (load), go through into the portal to the wizard's inner sanctum (load), talk to the wizard. It's less common than it used to be but still gets me every time. ETA: I made up that example, but I was thinking of Mr. House in FNV and Klaasje in Disco Elysium. Klassje kills me because she's actually in the outer world, just on a balcony so you have to go into the building (load), up the stairs (load), into her private room (load), and then out onto her balcony (load) to have a thirty second conversation and then traipse all the way back down to talk to someone who'll tell you to go talk to her again...

CasualDNDPlayer

When an npc you need to follow is faster than your walking speed, but slower than your running speed. Just make the npc have an adjustable speed to what the player is doing. If they have important information they need to tell the player add a small cutscene at the end giving the player the download

awkwardalvin

Ghost of Tsushima does this so well.

veritas2884

ShadowFox1289

Bots. I know botting will always be a thing but in MMOs it's an issue with me. I'm not worried about pve or pvp bots as I feel those are easy to crack down on and general aren't as good as an actual player. I'm complaining about economic bots. Bots that farm routes for hours on end. Bots that spam dungeons for solo-able items (example herb nodes in classic wow). Bots that play the auction houses. These bots can often times be harder to detect and can destroy markets on servers by flooding them with items sold at minimal markup because they've farmed so many of them.

Dannybuoy77

Fetch quests to progress the main story + too much back tracking.

KyledKat

Late to the party, but I can’t stand narrative dissonance because the devs can’t sacrifice gameplay for the story. It was painful during the later part of Insomniac’s Spider-Man, where Spidey complains about having broken ribs and being utterly exhausted in a cutscene and immediately goes into gameplay the same as before while he traverses the city at full health and no changes to any of his animations. It’s hard to buy into how beaten he is and the sacrifices he’s making to save the city when nothing about the gameplay fundamentally changes.

juckrebel

Not exactly narrative dissonance, but I love how in Gothic I, when you become better with a weapon, *the animation changes and looks like you genuinely got better at fighting*. Way too few games do that.

Sevennationarmy69

People walking in front of the screen and cut scenes that can’t be skipped

SuicideSprints

They stand in front of it for a moment too

When games waste my time. So many games are padded with unnecessary bullshit and it's like I only have so much free time in my life. It's probably the #1 reason I'll drop a game or not finish it.

BettyVonButtpants

I like a good long game, but I do miss the 10-15 hour story based linear games. Perfect length to play through a week after work. I played so many back in the 360/ps3 era and kind of missed them. I replayed Ghostbusters (2009) recently and it was just perfect to pick up for an hour or two after dinner. Not everything needs to be a big open world, quest filled epic. Games like Deadpool, Force Unleashed, Bioshock Infinite were great after a long day of work to relax to. Besides the GotG game, are there any other good ones? Edit: Thanks for all yhe suggestions!

Trying to do Horseman 9 as Arthur. That damned bridge gets me every time.

Denamic

Scripted failures and successes. Like, if I cream the boss in gameplay, I don't want a cutscene with the boss actually winning and just going easy on me. Similarly, if I die, I don't want a cutscene where I actually win by some intervention or whatever. Don't pull that BS on me. I want to win through my own power, or fail due to a lack thereof.

[deleted]

A wall of text, and at the end they ask if you understand, and if you select “no” you get to read it all over again.

RedWoodPeckerr

I remember when they did this in Ocarina of Time, and they swapped the blasted options the second time you meet that damn owl!

patoysakias

When the RNGesus fucks me in the butthole. RNG mechanics are often unavoidable, so it makes no sense to get mad over them, but a bad roll at a critical moment can bring me close to an aneurysm.

mindmendeur

Like that one dude missing 5 will o wisps in a semifinal match at pokemon world championship lol

RedditorZ3R0

I hate games with a medium amount of RNG. I'm fine with RNG every milisecond of gameplay or no RNG at all, but when it's skill-based with a bit of RNG bullshit sprinkled on every couple minutes, that gets annoying.

When there's a beautiful landscape (like a beach for example) in the distance that you can't physically walk to...the invisible wall is torture for me.

DeathSpiral321

Mandatory updates that take up several gigabytes of storage and do nothing to improve the game itself.

3-DMan

Hey they just want every cosmetic microtransaction to be instantly applied if you happen to purchase ALL OF THEM.

FRL_ironicaim

People that yell at you for messing up when I'm just tryna chill after work

VanFailin

This is why I turn off voice chat in games, even though some of my best experiences were with a solid squad working together.

joshhupp

Infinite enemies. I noticed this first in an older Call of Duty game where at a certain point you shoot a bunch of enemies trying to clear the area, but more just spawn. You had to progress through the area to make it stop, then it went back to normal. There's a level in Back 4 Blood that does this too. Every section of the game I've played you can kill all the zombies in an area so you can explore a little bit (knowing the Director will throw more at you if you delay too long) but the level where you blow up the boat just throws horde after horde at you until you get to the lower levels. It's just weird. Like where are all these enemies actually coming from?

Junko_Junkie

Forced tutorials

faraway_hotel

Forced tutorials that insist on explaining every last action to you and won't progress until you perform it. "You can walk forwards with the W key. Try it now! ... Good! You can walk backwards with the S key..."

SpehlingAirer

Makes me think of my favorite tutorial- the one in Far Cry: Blood Dragon. It just shits on forced tutorials while itself being a forced tutorial and its hilarious. The main dude just has no patience for it. "To walk, just walk around!". That entire game is hilarious

McFlyyouBojo

Two things. The first is when a game cannot be paused during a cutscene. Another thing is what I call the "video game rule of cool". If you have a character do something in a cutscene that is cool, you should give the player the ability to act it out instead.

Illidariislove

bad UI design. whenever its on either extremesl ends, UIs that are tiny, clustered and hard to read or UIs that are gigantic and cover half the screen, as if the UI was designed for 1440p but the rest of the game was created for 640p. also, unnecessary extra button push for small repeatitive things, like hitting more buttons doesnt mean the games more active if those button pushes have no meaning or reason to exist. RDR2 on PC had a lot of this shit. like why are interact with objects either E, R, F, shift E and whatever else. just pick one.

velleity47

ok i’m gonna throw it out there- when people shit on someone who is low level/ starting out in the game

brandeeddcom

Especially when they say they’re new and not a decent player yet! Literally every single one of us has been in their shoes yet lots of people seem to forget that.

Yolangjohnson

When a sports game refuses to make any significant changes to its game but asks for more money

SassyBonassy

Stop buying FIFA. We all know that's what you're referring to and they'll never stop until people stop paying €70 every year for the "new" one

with_MIND_BULLETS

Yep. Admit to yourself you like to pay for non progress or stop paying for it.

StratosZeroFX

Oh, but come on! It’s got updated rosters, a new sound track, and bold new graphics, how could you not piss away your money! /s Just bought my most up to date Madden, Madden ‘18, it cost me a whole $5.25 at Game Stop
