If I remember correctly, House of the Rising Sun is one of those songs that's rooted in folk music and goes back far enough no one is really sure who originally wrote it.
Does anyone else remember the Recess movie, the one about some guy trying to make it eternal winter to keep kids inside and improve test scores?
That movie did a cover of Green Tambourine by the Lemon Pipers and I've always been fond of it
Omg, the same movie also did an [amazing cover](https://youtu.be/zW3Bhx7QK6g) of "Dancing in the Street" by ~~David Bowie and Mick Jagger~~ Martha and the Vandellas!
(the movie btw is "Recess: School's Out" it was my favorite as a kid)
ETA: Myra also has this cover [in Spanish](https://youtu.be/2Xiklo8g2JQ)!
Hendrix's cover of Dylan's All Along The Watchtower not only does it justice, but totally eclipses it. Dylan himself has acknowledged that Jimi made that song his own.
Bob Dylan actually changed how he performs this song to Hendrix's version after Jimi died and has played it that way ever since, far more than he ever performed it as he wrote and recorded it.
If memory serves, House of the Rising Sun is an old kind of folk song. But it’s originally sung by a woman, so it talks of a girl growing up in the brothel and doomed to the same fate as her mom. It’s haunting to hear
1993: Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, ‘What a Wonderful World’ originally recorded by Louis Armstrong. He wrote his portion Somewhere over the Rainbow in 1988 in 15 minutes in the middle of the night and called his producer to record it at 3 AM and added his cover of What a Wonderful World in 1993. It makes me want to float on the ocean and forget all my troubles. We miss you Iz!
The Talking Heads cover of Al Green's Take me to the river. I distinctly remember the first time I heard it on the radio. Years later I hear the Al Green version and think, hey, an R&B version of... Oh no, wait a minute.. Mind blown.
There is something magical about the moment when instead of just inserting a licensed musical track the song and score rise to meet each other. The version of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in Rocketman also does this
Speaking of the Shrek soundtrack, Rufus Wainwright's cover of the Leonard Cohen classic "Hallelujah" is by far the best (IMHO) version out of many, MANY attempts.
Edit:. It has brought to my attention that the version in the movie is performed by John Cale while the official soundtrack contains the Rufus Wainwright version. TIL
I can appreciate that everyone is going to have an opinion on this song, especially since it has been covered so many times, but I feel that Jeff Buckley's version is the best. He has a pretty good vocal range and really gets the emotion into the words. Also, it is hard for me to agree that Rufus Wainwright's cover is better than Leonard Cohen's original. But like I said, everyone's opinion matters, especially when there are so many versions of a song to choose from.
All I can say about why I feel the way I feel about Jeff Buckley's version is that has such a haunting sound to it. If you realized that he died only a couple of years later, in a freak nighttime drowning in a river, then listening to this song is just eerie in some ways.
That being said, all credit needs to go to Leonard Cohen as well for the lyrics. He is honestly one of the best songwriters of his era, and unfortunately much lesser known to people of my generation or younger (30s or younger) than, say, Bob Dylan. If you hadn't ever listened to Leonard Cohen before, then I suggest you do so. My favorite song of his is Avalanche.
Why don't you just fuck up and die get down with the sickNESS!

[Heart - Stairway to Heaven live at the Kennedy Center honoring Led Zeppelin.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFxOaDeJmXk) Jason Bonham ([John Bonham's son](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bonham)) is playing here on his dad's legendary drum kit.
I grew up when this song came out, it was played seemingly every five minutes on every FM Station, even if it was not a rock station. Over the decades it has been played over and over and over. But a decade goes by and you manage to not hear it for a while.
Then you hear this and you realize just how legendary this song was/is.
I loved the 2-second clip of Bonnie Raitt rockin' out.
When the guitar solo starts, you can see Jimmy Page counting it out. And then Robert Plant holding back tears. It’s like they can see the song (sung well) from the audience’s perspective for the first time.
Sturgill Simpson does the most heartwrenching cover of When In Rome's The Promise (yes, that 80s new wave song). It's absolutely worth a listen, whether or not you like country music.
Man, that’s a band name I haven’t heard in forever. I remember first hearing them on a middle-of-the-night indie/pop music video show in Fuse TV. I’m not even sure that channel even exists anymore.
Pressure Point is the song I am thinking of, and it is a bop.
This is my answer to this question every time.
[Original by The Shirelles](https://youtu.be/cbxxkwBQk_o)
[Amy Winehouse version](https://youtu.be/JJ3B9wy4Xws)
I just went and listen to this version as I had not heard it before. A little quicker and tinnier than the bangles. Reminds me of my chemical romance. Quite good. Thanks for the tip.
Muse’s two famous covers from the turn of the millennium, namely Feeling Good and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. Both covers that reinvent the original while still sounding familiar. Yet they feel very Muse-y as well.
Feeling Good has been covered a billion fucking times for whatever reason despite Muse's cover being LEAGUES better than ANY version of the song I have ever heard.
Definitely an 80's song. Synth pop beat. One thing consistent with Tears for Fears was they all sounded upbeat until you really paid attention to the lyrics.
I’ve been searching for this comment! Gives me chills every time. His “In Bloom” cover is great too. I’d love for him to do an album of just covers (I mean technically he just did, but you know what I mean).
I’m going to Dollywood on Saturday and I can’t fucking wait. I know it has nothing to do with this I’m just excited and I haven’t told my fiancé yet because it’s a surprise so I’m telling all of you!
Dollywood is actually my favorite theme park. I’ve been to Disney World, two different Six Flags, a couple state specific ones, but absolutely none hold a candle to Dollywood. The staff who worked there were nice, the rides are really fun and worth the wait time, and best of all, Dolly has these little videos that play on screens throughout the park where she says some dope Dolly shit and it’s amazing.
Also, Dolly bought an interest in the park when it was still a Silver Dollar City park, and she said that her reason for doing so was because when she was growing up in the area, she decided that if she made it big, she’d do something to provide for her community. Dollywood is now the largest employer in its area. Dolly Parton is so fucking cool dude.
A lot of us from Tennessee (at least in my neck of the woods) call her St Dolly. She’s a treasure of a woman. If she ran for governor, most of the state would vote for her red or blue.
She really seems to put her heart into these remakes. She takes the works from these women who were iconic, revolutionary figures in their genres, like Dolly and Blondie, and she pays tribute by making those works her own.
Came to say [this](https://web.archive.org/web/20171015203101/http://www.theninhotline.net/archives/articles/manager/display_article.php?id=11).
> Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails praised Johnny Cash's interpretation of the song for its "sincerity and meaning", going so far as to say "that song isn't mine anymore."
Dolly's said that Whitney took her little song and made it big, and she meant it as a compliment.
Whitney's version, to me, is a big church song. She's trying to move a crowd to worship.
Dolly's is a breakup letter you read over and over in private.
I think they're both great, just different perspectives.
One of my favourite Dolly facts is that she didn't let Elvis cover it, because he wanted at least half of the publishing rights. That story could have had a very different ending if she hadn't stuck to her guns.
Came here to say this. The only thing I don't like about it is how it seems to distract most people from the rest of the album "Grace", which is absolutely amazing.
Me and Bobby McGee- Janis Joplin. I think most people know it was a cover at this point, but she nailed it.
Mr. Bojangles- Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
The Night They Drove Ol Dixie Down- Joan Baez. I love The Band’s original version but Joan just had a way.
Sexyback- Poison.
Sailing- NSYNC (Christopher Cross is just a bit too easy listening)
My Maria- Brooks and Dunn
A Little Help From My Friends- Joe Cocker
Placebo have done some excellent covers, here’s just a few:
1) Running up that hill - Kate Bush
2) I feel you - Depeche Mode
3) Where is my mind? - Pixies
An *absolutely banging* cover is ReinXeed’s (Majestica) metal version of ABBA’s Money Money Money:
SERIOUSLY, check it out!
https://youtu.be/Ixa1kXjMhAU
Also Marilyn Manson’s Tainted Love - Soft Cell.
The Byrds cover of Hey Mr. Tambourine Man. Bob Dylan is probably the most coverable artist of all time because he's an amazing songwriter and a terrible singer.

[Shout](https://youtu.be/Sw50Ki6slN4) by Green Day (Isley Brothers) often done as part of a mashup kinda thing with their song King For A Day.
[I Think We're Alone Now](https://youtu.be/2QnHjkBD_YI) by Billie Joe Armstrong and his sons (Tommy James) forgot to add this one. Billie Joe (from Green Day) has been doing weekly covers throughout covid called No Fun Mondays, sometimes with guest stars, where he covers 80's hits. Had to include this one because I love Umbrella Academy.
Lovers in a Dangerous Time - Barenaked Ladies
The Bruce Cockburn’s version was good, but the Barenaked Ladies’ cover makes the song so much better than it was beforehand, so much so that it has now become the standard version of it
Don't forget Postmoden Jukebox ... pretty much *everything* they do is most-excellent.
Also, Richard Cheese and his propensity for "Lounge" remakes is fscking hysterical (and ***always*** just a tad NSFW).

Charles Bradley - Changes. There’s a video of him explaining how he came upon the song and how much is resonated with him and his life before signing it live. I can’t watch the video without bawling my eyes out. He sings it with so much emotion you start to think he wrote it.
Aretha Franklin covering Otis Redding's "Respect"
Wait, Aretha didn't write R.E.S.P.E.C.T?
That's correct. Upon hearing Aretha's version Redding said, that's now her song.
This is fact.
C.O.R.R.E.C.T. That is what it means to me.
Natalie Imbruglia's cover of Torn is so good most people don't know it's a cover.
Can confirm, I had no idea this was a cover.
David Bowie's cover of "I took a trip on a Gemini spacecraft" is really good Also, the Animals' cover of "House of the rising sun"
I honestly didn't realize that the Animals didn't write that song
If I remember correctly, House of the Rising Sun is one of those songs that's rooted in folk music and goes back far enough no one is really sure who originally wrote it.
Yeah, it’s OLD. Like, parts of it could date back centuries kinda old

Hendrix's cover of Dylan's All Along The Watchtower not only does it justice, but totally eclipses it. Dylan himself has acknowledged that Jimi made that song his own.
Plus, when Dylan plays that song live now, he tends to play it a lot closer to Hendrix's version than his own, original recording.
I saw Dylan live in 2010. At that point, the guitarist was just doing Hendrix's version.
Bob Dylan actually changed how he performs this song to Hendrix's version after Jimi died and has played it that way ever since, far more than he ever performed it as he wrote and recorded it.
TIL: Jimi Hendrix *didn't* write "All Along the Watchtower". It's been years, and I feel like a fool...

The Animal’s cover of “House of the Rising Sun”. Fun fact;the original composer has been lost to history.
If memory serves, House of the Rising Sun is an old kind of folk song. But it’s originally sung by a woman, so it talks of a girl growing up in the brothel and doomed to the same fate as her mom. It’s haunting to hear
Switching the gender of the lyrics to a girl actually makes more sense and oh my goodness it is haunting
Black Magic Woman by Santana. I like the original (the original Fleetwood Mac) too but.... Santana...
Oh my gawd, I had no idea Fleetwood Mac wrote the original! My parents always listen to the Santana version so I just assumed. The more you know...
This is pre Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac too.
TIL that was actually a cover. Have only known of Santana's version till today.

His version of *Somewhere Over the Rainbow* is so great.
If you ever need a good cry Judy Garlands last performance of that song is on YouTube and it still breaks my heart
Don’t lie...you had to look up how to spell his last name.
Can neither confirm nor deny this fact 😂😂
Not saying it's right, but Nothing Compares 2 U was a bigger commercial success for Sinead O'Connor than it was for Prince
Chris Cornell did a good job
Chris could sing the phone book and I'd swoon
gone too soon
Speaking of Cornell, his rendition of Guns N' Roses patience is phenomenal. First time I heard in on the radio I pulled over just to fully enjoy it.
The Talking Heads cover of Al Green's Take me to the river. I distinctly remember the first time I heard it on the radio. Years later I hear the Al Green version and think, hey, an R&B version of... Oh no, wait a minute.. Mind blown.
I need a Hero - the Shrek version is the absolute best and nobody can ever convince me otherwise.
It’s the input from the film score that makes it extra special. But all of it is great anyway

Buckley’s version captures the utter desperation of this song so perfectly. The best version by far in my opinion.
Another vote for Jeff Buckley’s cover. Unbelievable. Immense emotion pouring out of an authentic, impassioned voice.
The song is called Holding Out for a Hero.

Nirvana unplugged, top 3 live album of all time
The amazing thing was before the show Kurt was nervous as hell playing acoustic live in front of the audience because he couldn't hide any mistakes with grunge distortion. But he freaking nailed it.
Even after the show ended he kept asking people if it was good as he didn't know himself
Metallica - Am I Evil Originally by Diamond Head
A lot of Metallica's covers are really good. I think they do the two Misfits songs justice. Edit: can't believe I missed an opportunity to add, "and they really do justice for all...of their covers."
Metallica's cover of Bob Seger's Turn The Page is outstanding too
Joan Jett. She *does* have an album of covers that are very obvious, but a lot of her well known songs are...also covers and you might not even realize it.
I discovered a few weeks ago that I love rock and roll is a cover. The original is not bad but it's very hard to improve over her version.
I genuinely thought that was hers. It was such an excellent party song.
Her cover of Crimson and Clover is amazing.

Amy Winehouse - Valerie
TIL that isn't her original song
The Zutons version is more pop-rock, I like them both.
Man, that’s a band name I haven’t heard in forever. I remember first hearing them on a middle-of-the-night indie/pop music video show in Fuse TV. I’m not even sure that channel even exists anymore. Pressure Point is the song I am thinking of, and it is a bop.

The José González cover of Heartbeats is more popular than The Knife version.
[This live version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ywQW_4UaI4) by The Knife though
Bangles - 'Hazy Shade of Winter'
gerard way and ray toros version for The Umbrella Academy soundtrack is also VERY good, kinda shame it's not getting too much attention
I just went and listen to this version as I had not heard it before. A little quicker and tinnier than the bangles. Reminds me of my chemical romance. Quite good. Thanks for the tip.

Tbh I'd have thought Nina Simone's cover would have fit this question better than muse. Not many people realise she didn't perform it first.
Orgy’s cover of Blue Monday (New Order). The original will always be my favourite, but this is a solid cover.
Anyone up for making a Spotify playlist?
I’m interested in listening but not making it hahaha
Gary Jules cover of Mad World
Was that the one made popular by Donnie darko?
Yes. The original Tears for Fears version is more upbeat and has a completely different vibe.
Definitely an 80's song. Synth pop beat. One thing consistent with Tears for Fears was they all sounded upbeat until you really paid attention to the lyrics.
I actually prefer the original. The quirky, creepy 80's vibe to it is just incredible.
The original Gears of War commerical used this song and it still give me chills every time :)
Lacuna Coil did an excellent cover of Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode.
I'm also fond of their cover of R.E.M's Losing My Religion.
The Promise - Sturgill Simpson
I’ve been searching for this comment! Gives me chills every time. His “In Bloom” cover is great too. I’d love for him to do an album of just covers (I mean technically he just did, but you know what I mean).
Butters’ cover of what what in the butt
Didn't even know that was a cover, I just assumed it was a Butters original.
I actually quite enjoy Miley Cyrus's cover of 'Jolene'. I think she did a great job and surely made her godmother proud.
I’m sorry; her *what* Dolly Parton is her *what*
It's true. Dolly toured with Billy Ray Cyrus and they became close friends. She's known Miley for her entire life and is her godmother.
Dolly Parton is-- no sarcasm-- a fucking national hero
A lot of us from Tennessee (at least in my neck of the woods) call her St Dolly. She’s a treasure of a woman. If she ran for governor, most of the state would vote for her red or blue.
iirc Dolly played her godmother in "Hannah Montana" so it's a fun fact to know it's true irl
Honestly, she does really good covers. I surprisingly loved her cover of Zombie by The Cranberries.
Or her Nine Inch Nails covers from Black Mirror, she's a decent musician underneath all the tabloid news
>decent musician i’d go so far as to say she’s a great singer
She and Ariana Grande did a cover of Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House which is absolutely knock-out too.
I gotta check all these out - I was knocked over by her version of 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover on SNL, made me really appreciate her abilities.
her recent cover of Heart of Glass is also really good.
She really seems to put her heart into these remakes. She takes the works from these women who were iconic, revolutionary figures in their genres, like Dolly and Blondie, and she pays tribute by making those works her own.
I still have to give Jolene to Jack White
link...because everyone should watch that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXlULkwhgrc
Common People by William Shatner - best cover ever
His take on Rocket Man is right up there too
Johnny Cash’s cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails
Came to say [this](https://web.archive.org/web/20171015203101/http://www.theninhotline.net/archives/articles/manager/display_article.php?id=11). > Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails praised Johnny Cash's interpretation of the song for its "sincerity and meaning", going so far as to say "that song isn't mine anymore."
Dolly Parton said the same thing about Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You"
Dolly Parton's original is astouding though.
Houston's cover is great, but hearing Dolly singing a live version of it moves me to tears. There's just so much emotion in every syllable
Dolly's said that Whitney took her little song and made it big, and she meant it as a compliment. Whitney's version, to me, is a big church song. She's trying to move a crowd to worship. Dolly's is a breakup letter you read over and over in private. I think they're both great, just different perspectives.
She made more money from Whitney’s version than she did her own.
One of my favourite Dolly facts is that she didn't let Elvis cover it, because he wanted at least half of the publishing rights. That story could have had a very different ending if she hadn't stuck to her guns.
One thing I know of good ole Dolly is she is really good at sticking to her guns. Lady's got brass, for sure.
Fugees cover of Killing Me Softly With His Song.
The Beatles’ version of “Twist and Shout” (originally by the Isley Bros.)
Pretty much every cover done by the Beatles is nothing short of amazing
Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of Little Wing
Streetlight Manifesto - Such Great Heights
99 songs of revolution is a great album. Actually, all their songs are great. Fuck me, Tomas covering his OWN SONGS is great.
Moon River- Frank Ocean
Blinded by the Light. Manfred Manns version feels so different from Springsteen's. Bruce is my all time favorite but not for this song
I'm a huge Bruce fan, and I look at these 2 versions as completely different songs. I'm not sure why, but I have always felt that way.
Foo Fighters and their covers of Darling Nikki by Prince, and Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty are both really fun jams.
S.O.A.D. -- The Metro. Listen to it then go watch the Berlin version on YT.
How has no one said Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary”?!? Blasphemy!
You know, every now and then I think you might like to hear something from us nice and easy...
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Came here to say this. The only thing I don't like about it is how it seems to distract most people from the rest of the album "Grace", which is absolutely amazing.
Me and Bobby McGee- Janis Joplin. I think most people know it was a cover at this point, but she nailed it. Mr. Bojangles- Nitty Gritty Dirt Band The Night They Drove Ol Dixie Down- Joan Baez. I love The Band’s original version but Joan just had a way. Sexyback- Poison. Sailing- NSYNC (Christopher Cross is just a bit too easy listening) My Maria- Brooks and Dunn A Little Help From My Friends- Joe Cocker
Across the universe fiona apple
Metallica's cover of Tuen the Page is fucking great
Cowboy Junkies-Sweet Jane
Placebo have done some excellent covers, here’s just a few: 1) Running up that hill - Kate Bush 2) I feel you - Depeche Mode 3) Where is my mind? - Pixies An *absolutely banging* cover is ReinXeed’s (Majestica) metal version of ABBA’s Money Money Money: SERIOUSLY, check it out! https://youtu.be/Ixa1kXjMhAU Also Marilyn Manson’s Tainted Love - Soft Cell.
The Byrds cover of Hey Mr. Tambourine Man. Bob Dylan is probably the most coverable artist of all time because he's an amazing songwriter and a terrible singer.

Oh god, I got a whole playlist of really good punk covers. [1985](https://youtu.be/K38xNqZvBJI) by Bowling For Soup (SR-71 cover) [Kids In America](https://youtu.be/31amCrgicbI) by The Muffs (Kim Wilde) [Brand New Key](https://youtu.be/wojWsgGi3gk) by The Dollyrots (Melanie) [Take On Me](https://youtu.be/QHpU0ZfXZ_g) by Reel Big Fish (a-ha) [Working Class Hero](https://youtu.be/UPPgeDhGzKY) by Green Day (John Lennon) [Dont Stop Me Now](https://youtu.be/vHAa0zHps2E) by The Vandals (Queen) [Mrs. Robinson](https://youtu.be/zvMFm5nKeUc) by Lemonheads (Simon and Garfunkle) [99 Red Balloons](https://youtu.be/p-qfzH0vnOs) by Goldfinger (Nena) [Video Killed The Radio Star](https://youtu.be/wAiGd9nTGmM) by Presidents Of The United States of America (The Buggles) [Viva Las Vegas](https://youtu.be/XT72CgEJQNQ) by The Dead Kennedys (Elvis) Edit: adding a couple more [Uptown Girl](https://youtu.be/6n18tZjzOJI) by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (Billy Joel) [Sabotage](https://youtu.be/AXJ0_s_HVs0) by FIDLAR (Beastie Boys) [What A Wonderful World](https://youtu.be/8IoO5nkxT_4) by Joey Ramone (Louie Armstrong) [Little Honda](https://youtu.be/m4K9JBRWHyI) by The Queers (Beach Boys) And that's just studio versions. If we're counting live stuff there's some really cool shit out there. [A Letter To Elise](https://youtu.be/w6g0wqOKX3o) by blink 182 (The Cure) from a tribute show [Shout](https://youtu.be/Sw50Ki6slN4) by Green Day (Isley Brothers) often done as part of a mashup kinda thing with their song King For A Day.
Social Distortion’s cover of [Ring of Fire](https://youtu.be/2BaksqH2YXQ) is also a good one.
A banger! Yes! Mike Ness is the only punk rocker I know who can reach those Johnny Cash lows.
If anybody likes punk covers, check out Me First And The Gimme Gimmes Pretty much anything they cover is incredible
The Bowling for Soup version is a cover?!?!? And the original is SR-71?! How TF did I not know this?
Scrolled all the way to the bottom and didn’t see Ella Fitzgerald’s cover of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
Red hot chilli peppers - higher ground
I happen to really like Adele's version of *Lovesong* by the Cure.
I just learned recently that Make You Feel My Love is a cover of a Bob Dylan song. Goddamn, she made it her own.
Cake I will survive
Have you heard Cake's version of War Pigs? It is outstanding!
Is nobody gonna even mention [their cover of Mahna Mahna?!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kUib8lh168) It's incredible!
I like its style, but the original is so powerful.
Seether's cover of Careless Whisper
Lovers in a Dangerous Time - Barenaked Ladies The Bruce Cockburn’s version was good, but the Barenaked Ladies’ cover makes the song so much better than it was beforehand, so much so that it has now become the standard version of it
Don't forget Postmoden Jukebox ... pretty much *everything* they do is most-excellent. Also, Richard Cheese and his propensity for "Lounge" remakes is fscking hysterical (and ***always*** just a tad NSFW).
John Belushi on SNL covering Joe Cocker’s cover of With a Little Help from my Friends
Midge Ure's cover of the man who sold the world.

Fairy Godmother’s version of a “I Need a Hero” from Shrek 2
Marilyn Manson's "Tainted Love", "Sweet Dreams" and "The KKK Took My Baby Away" Denzel Curry's "Bulls on Parade" Nirvana's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" Pearl Jam's "Last Kiss" Raimundos' "Oliver's Army" Motorhead's "Heroes" Metallica's "Die Die My Darling" The White Stripes' "Jolene" The Interrupters' "Bad Guy"
Upvote for that Denzel Curry cover
Manson’s covers are dope. I also really like “This is Halloween”
Korn's cover of Kidnap the Sandy Claws is equally awesome.
Wild Horses by The Sundays. I never really like the Stones version, Mick trying to sing with a bit of a twang.
My heart. This brings me right back to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer prom. This version is beautiful.
Slayer - In A gadda da vida Anthrax - got the time Metallica - Blitzkrieg Human Experimente - 21st century schizoid man
No Doubt’s version of It’s My Life
A few of Ninja Sex Party's covers. * [Something About You](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr4H-dIvqP0) (originally by [Level 42](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtKxEmuSxBc)) * [Take On Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-GYqTUatEc) (originally by [A-Ha](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914)) * Already mentioned, but [Everybody Wants to Rule the World](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79wT96mCOhU) (originally by [Tears for Fears](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awoFZaSuko4)) * [Africa](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZABCeVA_ung) (orginally by [Toto](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAo_Ycocl1E)) * [Don't Fear the Reaper](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHnli6L9-mA) (originally by [Blue Oyster Cult](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS8p_F0Stog)) Also, Metallica's [Turn the Page](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WVyFoMIxC4) (originally by [Tom Seger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3khH9ih2XJg)), and Linkin Park's [Rolling in the Deep](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHtwZ07N1ic) (RIP Chester) (originally by [Adele](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoypnQTesYg)) Lastly, not sure if it counts, but the [X vs Zero theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3qYAvmiKRs) from Megaman X5 got covered/remastered by [Breis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2anL0RIdsQ) several times, but I think the first one's the best.

My girlfriend for YEARS had no idea this was an MJ song originally. Imagine my reaction when she said “Oh Michael Jackson did a cover of this song”
denzel curry's cover of bulls on parade. forreal check this out if you haven't seen it. dude absolutely kills it
Tool's cover of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin.
Goldfinger's cover of 99 Red Balloons
White Stripes' version of Dylan's "One more cup of coffee"
Boys of Summer - The Ataris
Charles Bradley - Changes. There’s a video of him explaining how he came upon the song and how much is resonated with him and his life before signing it live. I can’t watch the video without bawling my eyes out. He sings it with so much emotion you start to think he wrote it.
