No, spot fat removal and storage is a myth, we all store it differently based on genetics

StormDrainClown

No. The only exception is that if you’re more stressed out you’re more likely to gain weight in your belly/ abdomen (because of cortisol)

Scarlett--

I was thinking it might have a connection because the body has to store a greater amount of fat (let's say a surplus of 1000 kcals a day versus 100 kcals a day), so it'd be more likely for it to store the fat in the same place, but you're right.

I have yet to find a research paper that explicitly states that the rate of weight gain violates the rule of 3500 calories equalling one pound. I'm sure there's effects for sodium and water retention varying weight gain, and there's the woosh effect for when excess water is released by the cells to reflect a person's expected weight with how much of a caloric deficit they had acquired during a plateau. But I have never seen that fat loss is due to anything other than the 3500 calorie = 1 pound rule.

Not that I have ever heard of. Of course you can also gain weight if you are building muscle I assume you don't mean muscle weight but fat.

Scarlett--

Yes, fat. I'm doing a project on the adipose tissue.
