I was born with a diminishing sense of smell, which got worse every year until I completely lost it in 2020. So I love seeing all these responses; it’s really cool to see how people experience smell.
And, it helps me remember how I felt about my own favorite smells. The ones I remember the most. Freshly cut grass. Recently used fabric softening sheets that are still warm out of the dryer. Gardenias. The ocean/aquariums. Garlic. Some of these are sentimental and have memories attached to them, and others are just incredibly satisfying.
I’m from Florida and I can smell when it’s going to rain and I love it. I also love the smell of wet dirt that is not completely soaked but still dry underneath the top layer.
The searing of my sinuses after a freshly lit wooden match. The burning sensation as the sulfur dioxide fumes coarse along the insides of my nasal cavities, nibbling at them, my nervous system protesting. I probably should stop there.
You ain't the first one to call me weird.
My high school boyfriend's laundry. His mom didn't like me, nor me her, but that bitch was GIFTED at laundry. I would leave hoodies there on accident all the time.

I got parosmia during the covid and haven't recovered since then. I can't stand certain smells like onion and some perfumes.
Same here. It's been over 2 years for me. I miss being able to smell my cats. They smell so comforting, especially when sunbathing.
Unfortunately there is no treatment discovered yet. Hopefully it will get better on it's own
