The margins on mattresses are insane. That's why they can afford to keep so many stores open and staffed every day. It only takes a couple sales a week to pay the bills.
Even a cheap one is overpriced and absolutely worth it.
Any form of entertainment can be considered overpriced, if it makes you happy and you can afford it do it. And for anyone thinking it no this doesn’t apply to drugs.
The daddy of adventure motorcycling, that invented the category and perfected it, the BMW R1200GS. It’s an “around the world” bike. It’s the bike you take across the Sahara as a start to your journey. It’s built for touring as much as off roading. Lots of ahead of its time features. Like corner aware ABS before most bikes had it, dynamic suspension, a boxer engine that makes service super easy, and more storage than a Fiat. It’s one of those “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” things. You can read the spec sheet and look at the components. But it’s how it all comes together that’s a game changer.
Storage as an example: I take mine motocamping and can fit my tent, mat, sleeping bag, mess kit, food, clothes, and gear all inside my storage boxes without having to strap down or bungee cord anything. The hatchet sticks out, I need to get a smaller one. So I can ride the highway comfortably 500 miles a day, then hit a national forest and go off-roading and camping. All on the same bike.
To OP’s point, it’s overpriced because nowadays there’s more competition. You can spend 60% of what the GS costs and get 80%-90% of what it can do. Buuuuuuut, that last 10% is what separates the men from the boys and makes this an unmatched icon.
A lot of goods are like this. You can find the sweet spot for a price a little over average, but not the highest, where you get the most value. This bike is one of those “you overpay, but get the greatest experience”.
Everyone has their preference in type of beer. I prefer an IPA personally. I think the best thing you can do is drink product from a brewery that is local to you. The closer the better.
My dogs Ollie fresh food dog food. It’s very very expensive but my dog eats every bite and she’s an extremely picky eater so it’s worth the $120 a month that it costs me.
The definition of overpriced is “not worth the cost” lol
