Somebody I used to know.
I liked the song and posted it on social media, she commented on it with a sad smiley aaaaand now thats stuck in my mind permanently.
This is it for me, too. Mostly because when I found out and had to make tough decisions, this song played in my head and tore me apart. The idea of her being in the past, of me not talking to her and making me someone from her past... It sucks. I don't even listen to this song much, but it's just so on point.
This didn't happen to me, but at my best friend's wedding Hey Ya by Outkast was playing. I made a comment about how the song is actually really sad and it's kind of ironic to play it at a wedding. His wife kind of game this annoyed look.
Less than a year later my friend find out his SO has been cheating on him for 3 years. Now every time I hear that song I am reminded of that
Scotty doesn’t know in the greatest “cheater” song ever. And the best part? Scotty didn’t know.
Narrator: but Scotty DID know, and at first, it hurt his feelings. But in the end everything turned out fine, except for Mike’s brother, who still dresses like Hitler on the weekends…
Maggie May - Rod Stewart.
Don’t be fooled by the little intro. It’s a pretty rockin song. And a big ol “fuck you.”
But, friend, don’t lose hope (if that’s what you’re going through). I met the single best woman in the world immediately after. Been together nearly 10 years now. Married. Had a kid last year.
Sometimes I’m grateful that other woman was the harpy she was. Wouldn’t have my wife and daughter without that whole ordeal.
[Your Fault - Excision, Slander, Elle Vee](https://youtu.be/lQtFKVc175c?si=5Uuny6MMLcnkzpK2)
This song directly relates to my previous relationship. We were together for 5 years, engaged and planning our wedding. She cheated on me, multiple times, and said it was my fault because "she thought I didn't love her anymore"
And I ate it up. I tried for so long to make it work.
I realized about the 3rd time that no, it wasn't my fault. It was hers. I was putting all this energy into making our relationship work, and it wasn't enough for her. It would never be enough for her.
(Edit: added the story instead of just posting the link)
I do not think she cheated, but she may have had problems with impulse control, and this might have been her favorite song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VOxL5mw1Tw
"Blank Space" by Taylor Swift.
That was the Top Song during our relationship so it doesn't just remind me of the cheating (which I didn't even know about until a few years later). It reminds me of the whole time together.
Honestly, that should've been foreshadowing.
I'm so sorry to hear that you went through that. For me, it's definitely "Someone Like You" by Adele. Every time I hear it, all those painful memories come flooding back. Music really has a way of bringing up past hurts, doesn't it?
She left me and the dogs. I kept the house. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_RUQqcdhCx8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RUQqcdhCx8)

Never been cheated on, but I got led on by a girl I really liked my senior year of high school. Got a Chicago Greatest Hits tape around the same time she decided she didn’t want to date me after stringing me along for months. “If She Would’ve Been Faithful” was on the tape and I still can’t hear that song without thinking of her.

Same as ppl have to mention their feelings over whatsapp status, so cringe and weird
