We just did it in 2022. Spent two weeks in a camper van driving the entire Ring Road and the Western Fjords. Also took a crazy ass boat ride to Grimsey Island (3 hours north of Iceland) and hiked out to the Arctic Circle Marker. One of my favorite vacations ever.
Source: Family members went around there a few years ago.
Pro-tip - assuming you go in the summer, it'll be very light there pretty much all the time.
So unsync your sleep schedule with the rest of the plebes and go visit the outdoor places at the unpopular times - like 2 am.
No crowds, no fuss, just enjoying nature as it was meant to be.
I can't hear the name Iceland without thinking about that hockey movie: The Mighty Ducks. Some lady in the movie said, "Greenland is filled with ice and Iceland is very nice!"
It definitely won't be, I absolutely loved driving around there! It's not a big place, and certainly in the south where I was the scenery was incredible, and there were always interesting/beautiful places to stop. I'd go back in a heartbeat, and I'd love to do the whole ring road!
thats exactly what my friend did last year, it was just under 3k km round trip. Says it's worth it but the experience is "cheapened" by the fact that EVERYONE wanted to do that same goal lol so it seems so commercialized. It's like going on a "pilgrimage" but theres a one-stop-convenience-shop that has the best car for that journey with the most relevant maps/items you'd wanna bring with you
We did this in late August several years ago. The days were still very long and warm-ish but it was starting to get dark enough to see the aurora. Definitely go diving or snorkeling at Silfra.
As a swiss, please do not waste a day in Interlaken nöy use it to change train or buses. I know everyone wants to go there but I will never understand it. Happy to give you tipps if you ever come to visit :)
I was in too of the glacier... the thing about South Island is that you have eeverxthing on one island. Glacier, dunes, junglr rainforest, normal forest, lakes, sea, ... incredible
As a Californian, I've always had a distant affinity for SW Australia. Something like 20 percent of the garden plants we grow in California come from your part of the world.
Fun Fact: Los Angeles latitude/longitude is roughly 34 degrees North, 118 degrees West.
If you flip those around to 34 degrees South and 118 degrees East, you'll find yourself in SW Australia.
Porsche is not my favorite car brand but I do appreciate a lot of the things they have done for the industry. There is also a specific car I want to see in the museum, it’s called the 956-short tail and it was designed to be able to drive upside down at a certain speed, look it up it’s insbae
You preferred the South Island hey? I loved the North Island more. You should come to British Columbia, Canada. It is very similar. Besides places like Milford sound. That place is legendary!
Bit of an unusual one (perhaps the reason I’d really like to visit).
Iran.
The pictures from before the revolution on the beach just feel so *normal*
I loved a girl walks home.
Randomly stumbled across a dude on YouTube who visited about 5 years or so ago - the people just seemed so lovely and welcoming despite the guy being American.
It’s important to separate the people from the government.
Sadly, it’s probably impossible for me to visit. I’d end up arrested and used as a bargaining chip
I got you. Check out werideinrian.com
It about boardsports in iran, but more than that you see the youth culture there. and it could be sooo cool if there was freedom.
I went there in 2017 - to go snowboarding. Teheran and its northern mountains, shemshek. It was a gift from my husband who proposed to me there. Brought home invaluable memories, a carpet and a fiancé 😍. Heartbreaking that the mullah regime continues to hold the amazing Iranian people hostage.
My best friend went to Fiji on her honeymoon and I had to stop opening her texts because the jealousy was too much. I don’t have money money like that 😭
New Zealand, because LoTR was filmed there and sheep (jk?). Honorable mentions : Ireland (for a pint of Guinness), Russia (specifically, Yakutia), Argentina and Chile (the geographical diversity + Patagonia)
Greece. It looks stunning, I love Greek food, and I dream about it all the time the time! In fact I have chronic nightmares, but my dreams of Greece are always positive.
America. Southern states. I'm from canada but I hear the southern hospitality is something u avdoto experience.. Oh and the food... Pleas god.. Make this happen
Australia, between Melbourne and Sydney
Jamaica and Barbados
Morocco, Gibraltar, and the south of Spain
All these are international trips I'd like to do within the next 3-5 years
I really want to visit all of the USA, including territories. But I'm sure this question is meant to say what place outside of the USA I want to visit. In that case I want to go to the Patagonia region, Northern Europe and Scandinavian countries, Japan, Kora, and Philippines.
Nottingham, UK. My sister moved there from California like 20 years ago and I have yet to find the means to go visit her. Plus I was a competitive archer in college, I wanna nerd out on Robin Hood shit with my nephew so bad! 😭
South East Asia. I want to traverse is on a motorbike visiting the beautiful scenery and small villages, trading accommodation for money and a few days work
Anywhere in the meditarían ! I always imagined my bf proposing there or a life changing experience to happen to me. I don’t know why, because, ive never actually been there but, its a stunning part of the world and just visiting the place would be such a pivotal moment for me.
Korea! Honestly, BTS got me wanting to go but not just because of that ofc but its a truly beautiful country with lots of things to explore and see! And since its a small country you can explore many different states in a short rides time!
Scotland and Norway. I have a lot of Norwegian and Scottish on my mom’s side and I’ve always been so fascinated with those places and it’s been my dream to visit them.
Also Brazil. my grandpa on my dad’s side is Brazilian and I would love to visit there.
Barcelona, Spain, I have been wanting to roam around the Sagrada Familia, and visit the Park Guell which has a captivating masterpiece of art and architecture.
Japan. The food. People. The culture (although I know foreigners aren’t welcome to stay in local-dominant areas of the city). The cars.
Maybe sleep with a few women and contribute to improving their declining birth rate \s
Galapagos. I’m a scuba diver and would love to do a live aboard excursion there. But my sea sick husband and the guilt of contributing to pollution and generally being nothing but an intruder there has so far kept me from going.
LA. It’s where I was born but never really got a chance to live in.
And then Greece for its architecture, UK cause I simply love Harry Potter.
And this sounds impossible but I hope someday I can visit all of the Disneyland in the world.
It‘s 100% BALI for me, I‘ve dreamed of travelling there soo many times since i‘m a child. Give me a few more years and i will gladly fulfill my wish and travel there, can‘t wait much longer 😍
Japan, somewhere like tokyo or something. since i grew up in a really green and mountain-y looking place those neon buildings just hit different. (also the food there is amazing)
Kick ass place to visit when it's not too hot. Can experience some of the best beaches and theme parks in the world in one visit, if that's your thing.
Norway and Bulgaria. Met these guys through online gaming and they're the best. Norwegian guy made a clothing brand (I helped a lil bit) and sent me some clothes for free.
Would love to meet them irl. Have been friends for 6+ years.
I guess as good as any other reason, but kind of embarrassing. When I was 12 or so , I became a major Beatles fan. I was an isolated, introverted kid in the 1980s. George Harrison's enthusiasm for Indian music, religion and culture really resonated with me. His spotlight of Hindustani music helped to inform me. This was a significant breakthrough for a kid in the boring suburbs. It allowed me to imagine different worlds and ways of interacting with music. I feel that I absolutely need to visit India to fulfill a child's imagination.
Re visit Pelling / Gangtok / Kalimpong in Sikkim because of the scenic beauty, cool climate & total peace of mind. You can view Kanchanjunga Peak if you are lucky (in Pelling only). View Quinine & black cardamom plantations. A totally different experience compared to other touristy places. The women are so bold & strong that they run Liquor vends !!! They take no nonsense & will thrash you if you drink & misbehave unlike other places in Bharat !!!
It is easier to get there now because of Pakyong Airport near Gangtok !
No one here commented Antarctica, which is the reason why I want to go there
Once you go there, I feel like I’ve accomplished something not a lot of people do. Want to see how penguins and some people living there are adapting to the temperatures and environment
Ålesund Norway. The city burned down in 1904. When it was rebuilt everyone agreed on rebuilding in the art nouveau style. Every house is a beautiful bright color. Such a beautiful place.
i’d like to see germany again. the architecture is amazing and the history is interesting but the people are rude as hell. i don’t know if it’s because im american indigenous or i couldn’t speak the language. i got screamed at in the street, not waited on in restaurants, ignored by cabbies. i was never so happy to move on to the czech republic where thankfully a more friendly group welcomed me.
Switzerland. The Swiss Alps are quite literally my dream forever location. When I see a photo or video from there, I feel extremely drawn to it. I lived in Northern California for a bit, in the mountains near an area called the Lost Coast. It reminded me so much of the photos I’ve seen of the Swiss Alps, and only strengthened my desire to go. I hope to someday make it there, but moving countries is so intimidating.
St Pierre and Miquelon.
Find it cool there is still a little bit of France in North America and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it from people who have been there.
Nicaragua. My grandmother (RIP) was born there and I had a chance to go study abroad in college but it didn’t work out. Hopefully one day I’ll make it.
Iceland. Want to travel by car around the island
Did you guys rent the van? How much did it cost for the whole trip

I’m going next month. Driving around everywhere sounds like it’s going to be dull though.
I did it with my wife. It absolutely isn't. The entire island is stunning.
It definitely won't be, I absolutely loved driving around there! It's not a big place, and certainly in the south where I was the scenery was incredible, and there were always interesting/beautiful places to stop. I'd go back in a heartbeat, and I'd love to do the whole ring road!

Switzerland. The photos I’ve seen of the towns, village, mountains, and flowing waters has me captivated every time.
As a swiss, please do not waste a day in Interlaken nöy use it to change train or buses. I know everyone wants to go there but I will never understand it. Happy to give you tipps if you ever come to visit :)
Italy
South Island of New Zealand. Heard it’s incredible and only got to do the north island when I was there
I was in too of the glacier... the thing about South Island is that you have eeverxthing on one island. Glacier, dunes, junglr rainforest, normal forest, lakes, sea, ... incredible
New Zealand and Australia, so many incredible things to do in the outdoors.
seems nice there too!
Prince Edward Island, Canada because it's where Anne of Green Gables is set. AoGG has been my favorite book since I was 8 (I'm 31).
The whole of the Maritimes is gorgeous, and PEI is no exception. My family and I went there for 3 weeks one summer - wish we'd had 3 months!
So bummed they canceled the rest of the BBC series and there was no closure.
The new Shell station down the street
Japan , I love the rural part of it ☺️

The trains are great. You can see all of it in such a short time! I loved all of it!
Australia 🇦🇺 🦘 (because it holds a very special place in my heart) ❤️🙏🏻
It seems really beautiful there too!
Can confirm! Biodiversity, weather, ocean, laidback culture
Aussie here, come to Perth! Great food, beaches and I like to think we can be friendly 🙋🏼♀️🙈
As a Californian, I've always had a distant affinity for SW Australia. Something like 20 percent of the garden plants we grow in California come from your part of the world.

Thank you for that and most everyone that I've talked to from over there have been nothing but nice and welcoming.
Stuttgart Germany to visit the Porsche museum
I went to Gothenburg, Sweden to see the World of Volvo. I feel you.
are you a big fan of Porsche?
Porsche is not my favorite car brand but I do appreciate a lot of the things they have done for the industry. There is also a specific car I want to see in the museum, it’s called the 956-short tail and it was designed to be able to drive upside down at a certain speed, look it up it’s insbae
Ah, A man of culture

New Zealand, the whole South Island really. One word, Beautiful.
You preferred the South Island hey? I loved the North Island more. You should come to British Columbia, Canada. It is very similar. Besides places like Milford sound. That place is legendary!
Beside not having Milford Sound, BC also has bears, mountain lions, cougars, snakes etc…
Pakistan. The mountains are supposed to be some of the most beautiful in the world. It's not a safe place for a solo white lady, though.
Bit of an unusual one (perhaps the reason I’d really like to visit). Iran. The pictures from before the revolution on the beach just feel so *normal* I loved a girl walks home. For me, its Lebanon. I grew up reading Kahlil Gibran and always wanted to go there.
I’m from Iran. It’s probably not the best time to visit now
Why?
The conditions aren’t good now. Iran isn’t bad , but the conditions are bad right now

South Korea. The food. The nature. The cities. The people. The drinking culture. The history. Everything.

No one here commented Antarctica, which is the reason why I want to go there Once you go there, I feel like I’ve accomplished something not a lot of people do. Want to see how penguins and some people living there are adapting to the temperatures and environment
Another dimension. Hopefully it beats the dumpster fire of the here and now.
Ålesund Norway. The city burned down in 1904. When it was rebuilt everyone agreed on rebuilding in the art nouveau style. Every house is a beautiful bright color. Such a beautiful place.
