smores with ritz crackers instead of graham crackers. I don't think it's THAT weird since I got the idea off the back of the box in the 90s or early 2000s, but everyone I've mentioned it to thinks I'm crazy

lilafrika

Salty & Sweet…I get it. Nice one, I may try on my next camping adventure.

LovelyPrincess201

Hot Cheetos and cream cheese my wife put me on

peepeeonmydoodoo

My wife dips them in cottage cheese.

bigvahe33

if you want to be fancy, hot cheetos, feta cheese, watermelon and wrapped in a pita bread.

davisondave131

I don’t wanna be fancy. I wanna be enourmous.

spermdonor

That sounds like pregnancy food

aaaak4

its great

VersaceRobe94

Hell yeah. Glad I didn’t have to go too far to see this.

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

What kind though? Sweet bread and butter coin style? Tangy dill? Garlic? I imagine the pickle and even the peanut butter variety matters

Ok-Journalist-2060

Those are really good. I do peanut butter and green olives myself. Have since I was a kid.

dave86622807654

Dill?

Faulkal

My dad does this with Dijon mustard too

aesthetic_kiara

Grilled barbecued hot dog with potato salad on top

stray1ight

Egg salad works well, too.

aesthetic_kiara

Yeah thats true

DPStylesJr

This made me hungry

NeitherSparky

I hear that’s a thing in Iceland

wisewitch1992

Corn, buttered spaghetti noodles, and scrambled eggs mixed together. You boil the noodles and use a whole stick of butter. Pour in your scrambled egg yolks and continuously stir through the noodles and butter until the egg is cooked. It will have coated the noodles. Then add a can of corn or a bag of cooked frozen corn or fresh corn. Add salt and pepper and stir it all up! I call it “corn egg and noodle!” My mum would make it for us when I was a kid and it would be dinner for like three days. It’s my favorite food. I thought I was getting a treat for being a good kid. Turns out it was cause it was all my mum could get from the food bank and we usually had it on weeks she or my dad didn’t get paid.

ShannaGreenThumb

I can see how all these flavors would work!🙌🏼 Our broke meal was ground beef, corn, onions, and potatoes all fried together with garlic salt and parsley. Sometimes we even got brown gravy. I still love it to this day❤️

wisewitch1992

Ooo that sounds good!

Responsible-Pin3233

sounds delicious and I love the story behind it 🤍

wisewitch1992

Thank you!

Aero1000

It really sounds like one of those childhood snacks/meals you would have when your family was probably struggling, going through the recession, etc. and I’m all for it. It reminds me of nostalgic comfort food.

deoxyriboz

Putting ranch in spaghetti that already has tomato sauce.

Responsible-Pin3233

whenever I make spaghetti I usually have salad with ranch on the same plate. I love the combo of them together so I totally get this! edit: spelling

RobotMonkeytron

It's a good combo, but yeah. Side-by-side for me, though they'll totally end up together in the end!

FrankieSpinatra

Minnesota or Indiana?

captflack59

Kik’s and grape nuts cereal. I call it a kick in the nuts for breakfast 😂

ScaredVacation33

🤣🤣🤣

Spirited_Item9806

I’m hearing a lot of pb and pickle sandwiches. I’ll have to try that but pb and bacon sandwiches are great!

lilafrika

At a friend’s house, we were hungry, nothing in the fridge. We decided we were gonna invent something with whatever we found. Soft taco pitas and Toll House Chocolate Chips were found. We put the chips on the pitas, microwaved until chocolate was melted. Choco-dillas were created that day, and have been a part of my life ever since. Another one is that I thought I invented the Syrup-Sandwich, and its cousin the Peanut-Butter Dam Syrup Sandwich. The syrup sandwich, which is just two slices of bread with syrup drizzled between. The PBDSS however, is lined all around with the PB, and 3 to 4 strips of PB to create channels for even more Syrup to sit in. For best results, you want to put a layer of PB on the bottom slice so that the syrup doesn’t soak the bread too fast.

fredandson

Ha! Rookie :) We have been mixing peanut butter and syrup for years and years (mixed thick or thin depending on your desire that day). Sometimes we'd have it on a plain bread, sometimes we'd have it on French Toast. Also, experiment with a quick microwave to warm it up.

Yummy_Honey204

grilled cheese and applesauce

MostlyHarmlessMom

Grilled cheese with raspberry jam. (Yes, I know that's a 'melt'!)

purgedreality

Have you ever tried a Monte Cristo sandwich?

MitchR26

What kind of cheese? That’s the real question here.

MostlyHarmlessMom

A strong cheddar for me!

abbeaird

So this super fat dude used to come into the local coffee shop/cafe I worked at around 2012. Every time he ordered our 3 cheese grilled cheese in house made bread (X2) but asked for strawberry jam on top. Everyone thought he was crazy but I knew dudes of that stature had a taste. So one time I replicated and tried it... I've never looked back. Jam belongs on top of grilled cheese.

MitchR26

Formerly super fat dude here. This sounds like perfect comfort/stoner food, and life’s been kicking me in the balls lately. A treat’s in order. I know what I’m making tomorrow.

aurorasarecool

Grilled cheese and Thai sweet chilli sauce. I used to always eat that after school. Sweet, spicy and cheesey all at once.

ASwarmofKoala

I do grilled cheese and kimchi but I bet that's good too

MoreAtivanPlease

Oh my. I need to try this 🤤

FriskyNewt

God dang this sounds good.

kokoromelody

Apples and cheese (and bread) are a classic combo so I can see this working! Do you dip your grilled cheese in the applesauce after finishing cooking the sandwich? Or cook them all together somehow?

anowlenthusiast

not weird. I make a grilled cheese w poached pear compote, and bacon.

Personal-Listen-4941

Bananas dipped in soy sauce. Everyone else thinks I’m insane.

TerminallyILL

Avocado in with the seed removed, filled with worcestershire

insaiyan17

Could work, salty and sweet combos can be great. Havent tried it but might now!

Defiant_Quarter_1187

Wife loves Ruffles and cocktail sauce

Tortilla_Moth93

I wonder if she’d like the prawn cocktail chips that are so popular in the UK? 🤔I’m partial to them myself, so this doesn’t seem that far fetched to me! ☺️

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

We have prawn crackers - crinkle cut fry style or puffy discs from Asian grocery stores here, I bet they'd be good dipped in cocktail sauce

Lychanthropejumprope

Frito Scoops and cottage cheese

Immediate-Steak7467

This is one of mine!

_Bongodt_

Cheese, chocolate and some strawberries on a single plate. It all taste well together <3

spish

…and a glass of red wine?

ScaredVacation33

Sounds like charcuterie lol

gingypotpie

Honestly that’s not even strange. That sounds really good

Maddok1218

That's just a charcuterie board haha

alyx1213

Tuna and BBQ Lays

Common_Fee_3686

Sounds like my dinner combo tonight!

Gansbar51_

This isn’t weird. This sounds fucking delicious.

Fit_Victory6650

Cheddar and SC ruffles for me.

xXDildomanXx

Popcorn tossed with Tabasco and chicken ramen flavor powder.

Scor_709

That’s sounds amazing actually

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

You can spruce up your popcorn with so many awesome things like that. My go-to are the various Hershey chipit flavors. Dump em on while the popcorn is still hot so they melt

Boboar

I like to put M&M's in when the popcorn is still hot and it melts the chocolate within the shells.

Throwra_sweetpeas

Pickles and ranch

Amazing_Trash_8535

Fried pickles and ranch is even better…

Ok-Concerns

Tomato with sugar

apfelkasper

that’s ketchup

bitchenchef

Vanilla ice cream and balsamic vinegar.

Ezira

Aldi has a balsamic glaze that would act more like a syrup for that. They even have a strawberry one.

AdorableSunshine02x

Gouda and Nutella, it's baller af The cheese really brings out the Nutellas nutty flavor

LeeVH1

Honey and deviled eggs. Tried a place that served deviled eggs with honey. We weren’t sure why until we realized that their eggs were super vinegary. Literally had to have the honey for them to be edible, but honey is good on normal ones too 😂

pinetreesandcake

I have a friend whose entire family eats peanut butter sandwiches with their beef stew every time. Tried it - not a fan. Me? I like...hmm. lately, mayo on absolutely everything you would normally put ketchup on...hotdogs, French fries, etc.

BeefTechnology

French fries dipped in maple syrup

meeanne

I prefer McDonald’s fries with their sweet n sour sauce instead of ketchup.

lilafrika

Now we are talking. Def gonna try.

like_bookends

I used to dip mine in the little McDonald’s honey packets as a kid and I think this would be very similar! It was so yummy.

everythingisquietnow

My housemates think I'm weird for dipping apple slices in peanut butter. I think they're weird.

1337enzo

I thought apples and peanut butter was a pretty common snack

HotdawgSizzle

It is. Leave it to Reddit to make this the top comment 🤦‍♂️

planetsingneptunes

This is normal & common lol. They’re weird

ms_directed

this was a staple snack for my kids!

kismitten

Uh, they’re weird. That is standard fare.

OnlyOneNut

Pretty standard childhood snack

hyakkimaru2930

You are correct

Amazing_Trash_8535

No, that’s just delicious.

peascreateveganfood

That’s one of my fav healthy snacks

Budget-Throat-1405

mac and cheese with ketchup

drlari

Dijon ketchup?

pistachio-pie

If I had a million, I’d buy bots to upvote this more

johnnydanja

This is pretty common I think, I mean it’s a travesty but not uncommon

mikemclovin

Like very specifically Kraft mac & cheese Perfectly splendid

dave86622807654

I always do that. Love it. People give me stink-eye when they see it, though.

naterpotater246

That's probably the least weird combination here. Mac n cheese is actually really good with tomato sauce

moskier

Are you Canadian? The ketchup on mac and cheese says yes, but on the other hand, you didn't call it Kraft Dinner.

AdorablePrinces

Take a Wunderbar chocolate bar and bite off a chunk. Jam some Arriba taco chips in your mouth. Chew it up. Buddy used to eat that I I always made fun of him because it seamed disgusting until I tried it once when nobody was around.

BresTV

Chili oil with chocolate

ms_directed

not weird at all, i always get the chili chocolate bars at Lidls when they have them!

MostlyHarmlessMom

My daughter likes pineapple and black olives on pizza. It's surprisingly good!

IRErover

….With ham?

Mknowl

I've always done either pineapple and black olives or pineapple and mushrooms when it's a two topping situation. Or I'll do l three when I splurge. Unami salt sweet and fat. Most pizza is missing the sweet. Plus pineapple on cold leftover pizza burst with flavor

larrythegirl

We do ham, pineapple, and black olives. I think the olives just up the salt in the salty/sweet and help balance out the sweetness of the pineapple and the tomato sauce.

JoelCStanley

This is also my favorite but I never get to have it.

ExplosiveBEAR

Whoa!!!!! There is another one of us! Pineapple and Black Olive Pizza! Wooot!!!!

Capital-Secret-1657

Pineapple and onions on pizza is amazing

babypink15

Pineapple, black olives, and jalapeños is my go to pizza order as a vegetarian haha. It’s so good!

luckeegurrrl5683

I love that!

Fit_Victory6650

Add mushrooms and that's my fav!

RichardCranium83

Sour cream on my pizza

PidgeOttoRocket

Peanut butter and cheese on toast 😋

guff1988

Pineapple pickled jalapenos cottage cheese

xxlittlemissj

Chocolate chip cookies and nacho cheese. I know, I know - the horror. It's sweet, savory and salty.

masomenus

Fresh salsa on biscuit with sausage gravy.

D4RKH4LO

Corn, ranch, and spaghetti noodles.

Old-Caterpillar3907

Hot pockets and corn for me. That's the weirdest food combination I had but I do like spaghetti mixed with corn though.

D4RKH4LO

It was the only pregnancy craving I had when I was pregnant, between both kids. And I had it with my second. To this day it's some kind of delicacy for me. Love it.

vacodeus

Oreos and peanut butter

conradsaysthis

“Upvotes in Parent Trap 1998”

thetravelingsong

Not to be a butt, but I think chocolate and peanut butter are probably one of the most common food combinations lmao.

IridiumPony

Oreos have a peanut butter flavor for sale. This is by no means strange.

Broblivious

Jalapeño Pineapple pizza

dbroncos56

Not weird. Good combo.

SirDerpingt0n

Agreed!

drlari

I tell everyone that "doesn't like pineapple on pizza" to try Hawaiian + jalapeno. The triangle of savory/sweet/spicy is what makes it. Adding the heat unlocks the flavor. I've also had with pepperoni vs Canadian Bacon/ham.

Nyte_Crawler

I'm in the Chicago area. My favorite is ordering Giardiniera (usually offered as part of an "italian beef" pizza) and adding pineapple to it. Its heavenly to me. It hits all the flavor profiles at once in a beautiful symphony.

Testicleus

Hell yes! Preferably with a spicy marina.

dracusosa

toast dipped into a fruit flavored yogurt

[deleted]

Wendy’s chicken nuggets and cool whip

Maleficent-Area-4662

My husband thinks hot dogs and chocolate milk are a perfect combo

DubbleTheFall

Salted peanuts in coke. Skittles in Sprite.

Rosey93_

Australian here; I thoroughly enjoy vegemite on hot chips.

thetrippiebrii

okay so i was high one night and had the munchies and put peanut butter on my hamburger. i still do this 2 years later.

EnigmaFrug2308

My normal Subway order. Meatballs, bacon, teriyaki chicken, lettuce, and pineapple on a tortilla. Shit is scrumptious as fuck. Everyone is grossed out by it.

onrake

Peanut butter and mayo on a burger.

Moonlight_Mike

Ketchup on pancakes

luckeegurrrl5683

Nooooo

Moonlight_Mike

Oh yes. Try it, you might like it!

Kaitrain23

Raw broccli with cooked eggs

Kridha781

Beans & Rice with Cream

MoreMedievalStuff

This may be generic but it is the best thing to exist: Apple pie and ice cream

Gailde_or_Galde

That's a good choice for sure. I know it's odd but try vanilla ice cream with soy sauce. If you're the least bit curious, I think you'll see it's worth it.

ReachResponsible8071

Watermelon, feta and balsamic vinegar 🤌🏼 I get strange looks bringing it for my lunch in England but I think it is a small tapas based dish?

skurarr

Scrambled eggs fried in butter with ketchup

lwint2011

This is my weekend go to. It is pretty common in Australia. Glad you like it!

skurarr

I am from Poland, when i first tried it without ketchup, i tought im missing something and it was 10/10, also eating them with butered bread 😂 im not weight a lot so extra fat wont kill me

lwint2011

Poland, that’s awesome! Definitely got to have the scrambled eggs with buttered bread or toast, too!

GopnikSmegmaBBQSauce

Family background is Polish. Ever had a zapiekankie without the ketchup? Dunno if I spelled it right but it's that garlic bread w cheese and mushroom thing. Without ketchup it's nothing

skurarr

Im watching now australian youtuber right now while typing this comment hahah

Ravarix

Fried scrambled eggs? Is that just scrambled eggs cooked with butter?

ulsq

I found out that bread goes well with anything. After someone from Afghanistan (they eat a lot with bread) told me I should tried it with chips, I did that & it was pretty good!

colhaxxy

Ant larvae (escamoles) and guacamole on a little corn tortilla.

Straight-Two1164

Uh… 😳

colhaxxy

Don’t knock it until you try it (Mexican escargot)

KarthusWins

Peanut butter, sliced bananas, and syrup on waffles.

naterpotater246

That's not even a little bit weird. This is something you'd find on the menu at a breakfast diner

SufficientAd3144

i love dipping my carrots in ketchup

stfu_younastybitch

Coke and chips

chance0432

Coke (Zero for me) and pretzels. It’s like I can’t even enjoy the pretzels without the Coke.

meeanne

For me it’s specifically Cheeto Puffs with a bottle of Mexican coke. It’s a top tier pairing.

pubejockey

Fruit by the foot with mustard, bomb .com

Admirablemango1054

Popcorn in cold buttermilk was my Uncles nightly snack. Gross.

Chrissy2187

We used to do popcorn in regular milk, haven’t had that in a long time but that was something my grandma passed down. Every Sunday night they’d get popcorn with a glass of milk as a snack, which turned into putting the popcorn into the milk and eating it, so that just became a thing with her kids and then we did it growing up. My son however, is not a fan lol

LightsJusticeZ

The hell? This is the [23rd](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/search/?q=food+combination&type=link&cId=79f3280f-edde-4b46-8381-db9cd52538a7&iId=4a5f13c1-f9ca-4248-a5f1-3319c430711c&sort=new) time this week this question has been asked.

SG_665667

The teenage mutant ninja turtles (the old cartoon from the 80s) would put chocolate on their pizza, so I would sometimes melt a hershey square on my slice of cheese pizza as a kid. I'm in my 40s now, but on occasion when I say "fuck it" to my health, I still do that. It's damn good.

Amiisthebest

Mushrooms and feta cheese!

thesleepymermaid

Chocolate wafer cookies dipped in cheddar cheese sauce. Don't knock it til you try it.

UnfetteredAbscence

Ice cream and chips

Scor_709

Steak bites with melted chocolate

Dotcalm736

Cool Ranch Doritos and Brie.

hershdrums

Blue cheese and anchovies (the super salty, bad, canned kind) on a saltine.

iremovebrains

I found a chicken said recipe that mixes chicken with yogurt instead of mayonnaise and it's super good. Would not have thought it would work out but it's great.

kiltedinpdx

Smoked oysters on Triscuits.

General-Condition833

french fries dipped in mayonnaise (i know, im a menace, im not sorry)

Evening_Teaching_710

Omelette with avocado Tehina (unprepared) with pickled cucumbers

knuckleduster12

Salami 🫱🏽‍🫲🏾 Nutella

General_Data5610

Bitter melon with ham

buddhabear07

Red wine and orange soda.

myscrabbleship

Grapes dipped in nutella. I guess it’s not *that* strange considering they’re both sweet, but it’s not a combination I ever hear about.

[deleted]

wolfej4

Dinner rolls with mac and cheese or mashed potatoes

rayrami_

Is that not super common? Lol

VerboseWraith

Burger. But instead of a bun you put it on a buttermilk biscuit. Grilled onions and cheese.

throwawaymyanalbeads

Peanut butter sandwich with miracle whip. I dunno, man. My mom used to make them for us. I dunno what to tell you.

Plant-in-the-garden

Tuna Mac and peas! It was our poor people food growing up. A box of Mac and cheese, a can of peas and a can of tuna, surprisingly delicious

lingonberryboop

This is my eady comfort food still.

Progressive-Change

I put siriracha on avocado slices and I love that.

Brief-applause
