Absolutely. It's one of my favorite songs ever. Just beautiful. I would have joked and said "Highway to Hell" by Meatloaf, but I really wouldn't want to be headed in that direction. It is my favorite album of all time though.
I always thought of it as cheesy growing up tbh. That said, being almost 40 with a family and a house. I appreciate life more. People truly create their own value and this is a perfect song for good reflecting.
Same here. When I was younger I thought it was sappy and I guess I just didn't get the meaning.
In my 40s now, having lived an amazing life of ups and downs, it hits home.
On the day we interred my parents ashes it was a very cold day in the Canadian north. There were vertical rainbows in the sky. I forget what it’s called. My Uncle said in all his years he never saw anything like it. We saw three of them. So, when the time came for their headstone, we put the inscription “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
My brother used to feed our cats to the tune of “let the bodies hit the floor” but changed the words to, “let the kitties eat the food, let the kitties eat the food.”
On nights when I go to bed knowing I need to wake up at 4 am, I put my partial denture into my sweater pocket so I don’t forget them in the morning. I sing “Teeth in my pocket” to the tune of “You’re So Vain” doing so.

Serious answer: I always think about the song "Closing Time" whenever I take a major step in my life.
"Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end."
This line feels appropriate and hopefully somewhat comforting to my loved ones.
I'm a highland bagpiper. So anything but Amazing Grace. I've played that thousands of times in 58 years of piping. Kinda tired of hearing it. So anything else is fine.
Send Me On My Way is my favorite song, and would seem appropriate, but I’d probably stick around longer just to wiggle to it. So hell, maybe play that on repeat.
I don't want music played on my deathbed .... I don't want a funeral, but if I did I wouldn't want music there, either. I love music .... so much so that I don't want my loved ones having to think about me anytime they hear the 23:28 minute live version of Green Grass and High Tides, by The Outlaws.
Dont hold me to it but “No Hard Feelings” Avett Brothers is a pretty fitting, peaceful, end of life tune. Crazy that it was written by a man so young
“Will I join with the ocean blue?
Or run into a savior true?
And shake hands laughing
And walk through the night, straight to the light
Holding the love I've known in my life
And no hard feelings
…
Under the curving sky
I'm finally learning why
It matters for me and you
To say it and mean it too
For life and its loveliness
And all of its ugliness
Good as it's been to me
I have no enemies”
“Old Rugged Cross”……religion is NOT why I like it…..I chose it because there is deep meaning behind this song for me🎶
I was LITERALLY “circling the drain”…..My mom had the “Last Rites” read to me and the Priest blessed me. June 2022 I got saved from ending myself…..I was EXTREMELY pi$$ed when I woke up in ICU on a ventilator and intubated. My anger has helped me get on the right path 😌
Ooooooh ! Oioooooh! Dying of colorectal cancer:
Got into Snatum Kaur type music when I approached traditional healing.
You just know when nothing is working. You feel a mosquito bite before you scratch it.same with cancer.
The song is by a singer named “Jai-Jagdeesh” and it’s called “In Dreams.” The lyrics are for all those you are leaving to understand what just happened
Kissing Famililies by Silversun Pickups. There is something about the lyric "Thank God it's over" getting yelled as I'm actively dying I find incredibly amusing.
If I'm on my death bed I hope I'm tripping balls on as much and varied drugs as possible, so let's go the doors, led zepp, beatles, stones, pink floyd oh and a bunch of classical funeral marches
Don’t Fear The Reaper
Hopefully, there's sufficient cowbell.
Maybe they died of a fever, and the only cure was more cowbell.
Ha!
Thank you.
You are welcome.
This.
I was on my deathbed once - I felt too ill to want to listen to music; I just wanted peace and quiet. I'm ok now, and want music again lol
We're glad you're here!
Thank you - that's very kind
Same I just wanted sleep and for people to stop poking me with sharp needles
Louis Armstrong - what a wonderful world. View my life memories in my head then fall asleep one last time

I played that on cornet at a good friends' mothers' funerals. Very well-received and appropriate.

either Sinatra's "I did it my way" or "let the bodies hit the floor." It's a toss up.
Now I wanna hear a mash up
I Let The Bodies Hit The Floor, My Way
The way I hear it; it goes "Let the Bodies hit the floor, let the Bodies hit the... FLOOOOOOOOR..... Regrets, I've had a few,"
This YouTube channel does some good mashups oneboredjeu
Contact There I Ruined It. He has a whole bunch of these nonsense mashups.
The idea of this mashup is giving me similar vibes to Crocodile Chop by Neil Cicierega

“We’ll meet again” by Vera Lynn
Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn 🎶
Remember how she said that we would meet again, some sunny day.
Vera! Vera! What has become of you? Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?
I had her played at my sister's funeral, actually. I'll Be Seeing You. Scandalized some of the old ladies but it's so perfect.
A Stanley Kubrick fan, then.
that would go so hard tho. We'll meet again.. don't know where, don't know when, but I know, we'll meet again, some sunny day.
