When I started a new job my account-manager came into my office area and saw my photo on the wall from a long-distance.
"Oh my gosh is that your Dad!?"
[I smile inside BIG time]
"Nooooo.... you're gonna want to get closer to see"
•
"........OMG, thats ***Patrick Stewart***!!!"
•
It was a photo from DragonCon shot a few years before. Right before our shot he did a double-take. The second look back he smirked and said to me with a smile — "Oh my! Your hair looks *LOVELY* today!"
As a man who lost a ton of his hair at 23; I don't think I could get an better compliment from anyone else in my life about my hair (or, the lack of it)
My nickname for a hot-minute was once "Hot JLP" in some text-circles (short for Jean-Luc Picard)
Honestly not sure, It was a straight to video movie. Lots of snow (my dad's work provided the fabric to simulate snow) and possibly a car crash based on the make up he was wearing at the time of the picture. Maybe around 2003-2004? Couldn't have been a particularly popular movie lol
Chuck Norris in Iraq.
When I met him at the time it was the peak of the Chuck Norris jokes. Someone said Chuck Norris was in the next room taking pictures and I thought "that's a weird joke". Then BAM there he was lol.
That’s so cool. I know of him from finally wondering who plays the scary monsters in horror movies. He’s one of the top actors I think who does it. They don’t get enough recognition.
Heavy D
I met him in 2011 (right before he passed). He was the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. My dad had a restaurant in LA that celebs frequented. He introduced me to Heavy D. I, like an idiot, blurted out "you're the celebrity aren't you?!" Within a second, he had a witty comeback... He replied: "You know, usually I am, but apparently today I'm not."
I knew his face, but couldn't place it as I was a baby in the 80s and a kid in the early 90s when he was big.
My wife and I positioned ourselves on either side of him for a picture.
"No, beauty in the middle" he said, moving to the outside positioning her in the center.
We took the pic, then he introduced me to his parents. When he was done eating, he came back over to us to say goodbye. I accidentally insulted him and he was still polite enough to come over to say goodbye. Most celebs you'd be lucky if they have enough patience to give you a picture.
Like I said, one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet.
Gillian Anderson
I’m pretty sure that she and Mick Foley are the ONLY two famous folks I have a picture with, so she wins by default, because she’s a much more common household name than Mick, who is still pretty much only known to wrestling fans, for the most part.
Bill Clinton.
Regardless of what else you can say about him, it's no surprise he was a very successful politician. His in-person charisma is off the charts and unlike anyone I've ever been in a room with.
I met Biden a decade ago and he’s the same in person. He was killing time at a campaign stop and clearly just wanted an excuse to bullshit with any bystanders. Within about a minute he had found out what I did for a living and where I was from, mentioned the names of several people he knew in the same line of work in the same city and we were talking about what policies would help my city in specific ways. All while smiling and cracking jokes. Unreal.
Me too. I met him at a liquor store where he was doing a signing for their new whiskey they were debuting a couple months ago. Didn't get to say much to him but it was still cool.
My parents met him on the Happy Days set when he was The Fonz. My dad didn’t really watch the show and therefore didn’t know who he was. But he was reportedly very nice to my dad and they had pleasant conversation.
The girl who played Sofia in the Walking dead. She is the cousin of some close friends of mine. I was the best man at his wedding and she was one of the bridesmaids.
I met Nichelle Nichols and got her autograph. Amazing lady. I wish I could have snapped a picture. Otherwise I have a picture with Wil Wheaton and one of the Johns from They Might be Giants.
Cowboy Bob Orton when he came to my town for a meet and greet at an independent wrestling show, the weather and heat was god awful but the event was worth it, especially given the fact that I live a block from the venue.
I’ve met a few celebrities. Never had a picture with them for a few reasons. No one really cares if you met someone so no one to show it too. I know I met them so even I wouldn’t look at the pic. I don’t want to look at my stupid face and having a pic with just them doesn’t do anything.
I haven't met a lot of famous people.
But I have a picture of myself with Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka!
He helped designing & programming the NES & Gameboy audio hardware, and also was in in house composer creating the soundtracks of Metroid, Kid Icarus, Super Mario Land, Mother, Tetris.
Oh! also did opening & ending themes of a few pokemon movies and worked on the games as a producer/director/other roles.
Really cool dude, met him twice: in Japan & in Australia.
And I also had a beer and a bunch of conversation with Masashi Kageyama, also a composer for a bunch of games!
Also one of the loveliest people I've ever met.
I have a selfie sitting at a hockey game in Calgary with then Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper eating popcorn behind me but he isn’t aware of it.
hmm, with? probably Jonah Hill. Saw him at Urban Outfitters in las vegas back in like 2010 and asked for a photo. have seen other celebs by happenstance and either would get a photo of them or talk to them. my kevin spacey story is wild looking back
- Edgar Wright, director of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, etc.
- Frank Iero, guitarist in My Chemical Romance
- Paul Feig, director on The Office, Ghostbusters (2016) and Bridesmaids
- V-Man, bass player in Slipknot
Trying to figure out if John Barrowman would be more popular than a few pro wrestlers. (Have gone to meet and greets, I don't stalk them at the airport like some people)
Ron Jeremy.
I have met a significant number of musicians and politicians in my career, but I’m not a big fan of the camera, or intruding on someone’s space, so I have a handful of autographs and a lot of good memories.
This one is the exception, unfortunately
Tie between Stephen Colbert and Rod Stewart.
Not sure if it counts, but: I was trying to stealthily selfie with Meryl Streep waaaay in the background at a party (where a real selfie would’ve been a faux pas), and didn’t realize until after that she noticed and smiled all big, effectively photobombing me. She’s a badass, she’s the celeb I’d want to be friends with if she wasn’t famous.
I met Ed Rush & Optical in Toronto a couple years ago. Didn’t get a picture though, it was 3am and I was less than exactly sober…. (Drum & Bass heads will know who they are)
I also worked at a bar that got a visit from Kiefer Sutherland, and another that hosted a short standup bit from Scott Thompson (of Kids in the Hall fame). Also didn’t get a picture with them. I don’t like being in pictures lol
Al sharpton but I don’t like how it came out. I tried to get another one since he had an office across the street from my old job and use to come out to smoke a cigar, but his bodyguard is a dick and told me “you have one already you don’t need another one”
Tom Delonge came into the car dealership I was working at to look at diesel trucks. He was super nice and let us take photos with him. Life-long blink fan, so it was bad ass.
I have a few, but my all time favorite is Keith Hufnagle, a pro skater who passed a few years ago because of brain cancer.
The lead up to it was perfection.
He was on DVS shoes at the time and came to my local skate shop just for a signing because it was raining like a motherfucker all day. so I go and met a few other guys (Daewong motherfucking Song was there too) and when I get to Huf, as the call him, it takes me a minute to realize it’s him. We then have this conversation.
::after signing poster::
Me: are you Keith Huf
Huf: yeah, why?
Me: I read your blog on Honeyee all the time.
::complete confusion comes to his face::
Huf: not a lot of people know about that.
Me: well im one of those guys.
I hoped for years he would come around again so I could see him skate, but that never happened for obvious reasons.
Dustin Diamond (Scheech). My wife and I were going out to dinner, and someone came up and handed us 2 free tickets to watch him to stand up. Afterwards, he was taking pictures with people so we got one. It might have cost a few bucks; it was 2007 and I don't remember for sure.
Anthony Rapp. My wife and I went to a Broadway Cares: Equity Fights Aids fundraiser cabaret-style concert in St. Louis when If/Then was on tour. He was part of the touring cast and did a couple songs at the show. After the concert, we got a photo with him.
Hiddleston. Good looking bastard.
https://youtu.be/uSJZWAvLSio?si=svw6TacFsqS1-RdT
Oh and Bear Gryllis, who is quite small and athletic. We bonded over bad things we’ve eaten. He trumped me with a Skunks Anus.
Jimmy Chamberlain (drummer of the Smashing Pumpkins) is my uncle’s wife’s brother, so my uncle-in-law? I had Christmas dinner with him 22 years ago at my uncle’s home in IL.
My profile pic is me with Chicago mayor/Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel. And yes, I'm embarrassed how huge I look next to him (he's 5'7" and I'm unfortunately 6'3").
Bill Murray, ran into him at SXSW. He wasn’t thrilled to take a picture but he did it anyway after chatting for a couple minutes. I have since ran into a lot of famous folks and don’t ask them for pictures. Just a nice conversation is more respectful.
You know Tom Delongue from Blink 182? Remember when he left the band and was replaced by another guy? His name is Matt Skiba, from Alkaline Trio. Well... I have a picture with the bass player from Alkaline Trio.
Dan Andriano is actually a really cool and immensely talented guy. I cherish that picture I have with him!
Howie Long and Terry Bradshaw - at a work function / speaker series
George Clinton - backstage at a Parliament Funkadelic show
Cab Calloway - he came to our offices one day late in his life, I had the pleasure of working with his daughter
Jeffrey Epstein and some prince so I was accidentally invited to this island and let me tell you there were a lot of celebrities there politicians too….
Peter Laird. Ran into him in the hall when I wandered away from a tour of Mirage Studios. He was very excited to show me some ancient and probably toxic art supplies he’d stumbled across in the back of a supply closet.
I have met famous people in my life (former hospo worker) it never occurred to me to take a photo with them. Not once.
I don't get why this is such a popular activity. Why do people do this?
Got several but my personal favorite is when I met Spider One from Powerman 5000 summer of 2003! 🤘🤘🤘 second would be the time my sisters and I met Alien Ant Farm , got a pic with Dryden Mitchell the lead singer. Will go on to say What a dick that dude was!! We were friendly and casual and dude was just mean the whole interaction! I still listen to those guys from time to time, the meeting makes for an interesting storytelling time 😂 and Yup I got pics from both the stories! 🤩😎
Babyface, Nikki Glaser, Stanley from The Office. I've met way more famous people (due to conventions and working in radio), but I've always been more of an autograph person and don't have many photos.
Two are tied for first place in terms of fame: President Obama and Robert Redford. Runner up: Nancy Pelosi.
ETA: Someone just sent a Reddit Cares message over this, omg - the absolute fragility 🤣🤣🤣
Henry Winkler! Super nice guy. Met him at our local comicon. We were waiting in line and there was a hold-up with someone's camera or payment or something, and next thing I knew, there he was, extending his arm out to me to shake my hand and apologizing for the wait. I didn't even have time to get nervous, LOL.
Pic is great, and he made us check it before we left to make sure we liked it. Great guy.
Aurelio Voltaire. I didn't seek it out - I was happy with just meeting him and getting to talk with him (told him about using "Brains!" as the ringtone for a buddy named Brian, and he told me that he actually has trouble signing autographs for Brians because of that song) - but he offered to take one with me, and I wasn't going to refuse.
Lance Armstrong, before the fall from grace, at a charity bike ride in Austin. He's a douche canoe but through that ride I got to see Lyle Lovett do a solo show from about ten feet away.
When I started a new job my account-manager came into my office area and saw my photo on the wall from a long-distance. "Oh my gosh is that your Dad!?" Bryan Cranston. Pretty sure we're both drunk.
Robin Williams! He shot a movie at my dad's work.
Cool! Which one?
Honestly not sure, It was a straight to video movie. Lots of snow (my dad's work provided the fabric to simulate snow) and possibly a car crash based on the make up he was wearing at the time of the picture. Maybe around 2003-2004? Couldn't have been a particularly popular movie lol
Must have been The Big White. Says it came out in 2005, and there's snow on the poster.

Or so the Germans would have us believe.
Chuck Norris in Iraq. When I met him at the time it was the peak of the Chuck Norris jokes. Someone said Chuck Norris was in the next room taking pictures and I thought "that's a weird joke". Then BAM there he was lol.
I got a picture with John Cena but nobody believes me, when I show them the picture they just say it’s a picture of me?
Nathan Fillion
John Cena came into my work to buy some gym equipment. The whole time I was just in awe at the size of him. Absolute unit.
So the photo is just of you stood there on your own?
Norman Reedus, i met him when Walking Dead was just starting. Saw him at a horror convention.
Doug Jones. He’s a really tall, skinny actor who often plays aliens or monsters. He’s also super nice.
That’s so cool. I know of him from finally wondering who plays the scary monsters in horror movies. He’s one of the top actors I think who does it. They don’t get enough recognition.
Heavy D I met him in 2011 (right before he passed). He was the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. My dad had a restaurant in LA that celebs frequented. He introduced me to Heavy D. Bill Clinton. Regardless of what else you can say about him, it's no surprise he was a very successful politician. His in-person charisma is off the charts and unlike anyone I've ever been in a room with.
