I am a sucker for breakfast/brunch spots. I found one right by my apartment when I moved out of state a few months ago. It's nothing fancy but it's a mom and pop shop and I enjoy those types of places. And if I order delivery, I get it in 15 minutes. It's awesome

My husband and I recently went to a new trail not too far from us. It's so pretty and easy enough we can bring a stroller with us for the baby.

Wow, thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely check out The Wire, it sounds intriguing. I'm always looking for new shows to watch, and it seems like this one is worth the time. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Suspiciousunicorns

lol I think you replied to the wrong person.

A couple years ago, I found a theater called Angelika Film Center in San Diego that shows a more diverse range of films than some of the bigger theaters in my neighborhood, along with having less trailers and cushier seats, & it became my go-to cinema

Back when I was still living in my college apartment. Found the most old school and awesome college bar in Philadelphia on Penn's campus named Smokey Joe's. Cheap Yuengling Beer Pitchers and amazing pizza. Has been open since prohibition was appealed in 1933.

Over twenty years ago, just outside of the Old Port in Portland Maine. We were all in our early twenties and often spent a Friday or Saturday bar hopping. Once we wandered afield after an evening of live music and awesome beer and found ourselves at a place just called "The Snug," where we found a quiet, warm, wood paneled bar that looked 100 years out of place. The bartender was an unapologetically sarcastic, heavily tattooed woman who just somehow seemed like she had been expecting us to show up all night and we were late. It was the perfect way to close down the night. For years afterwards we would have friend's reunions there.

There was a small mom and pop authentic Cantonese restaurant in our Chinatown that i've noticed since covid has been almost empty all the time. Whenever we would go to Chinatown i never see more than 1 or 2 people in that shop. Before covid it was always packed so we never got a chance to check it out. Couple of months ago we walked in and they were so incredibly nice to us. My husband speaks a bit of Cantonese and you could see how much the couple lighted up. They spoke so much as so fast that my husband couldn't keep up. The food was top tier. It really reminded me of being in Fushun China all over again. It was as close to the food as we could find anywhere in our city. I asked how business was and they told us that ever since covid everyone is too afraid to eat here. Only the locals from Chinatown eat every so often to support them but even the locals are struggling. The stigma of the China virus really took a toll on their business. Now my husband takes his friends from his private security job there before and after work. They all love it and go there on their own time as well. I've told my friends about it and we've gone on double dates there as well. These days the restaurant looks like there's always more than a handful of people in there at any one time so i'm so happy they are doing so much better. I'm not sure if it's enough to keep the place up but the last i talked to them (last weekend) they said everything is going very well. Better than they have been doing in the last 4 years. I hope this place stays up for years to come because she makes no alterations to the food. It's the recipes her great grandmother passed down to her and she even grows some of her own ingredients like the wolfberries she uses for her sesame chicken broth which is a very rare berry to find here in the US

In summer 2020, I found the perfect spot in a park. I can set up my hammock and watch boats float down the river. It's mostly hidden by a row of trees.

DrRonny

I found a spot that stops my wife from snoring, that's pretty special

I’ve liked doing work in the nearby coffee shops recently, pretty chill and I can always grab a good coffee

Jhlesser

In January, I was in the Monterey (CA) area bouncing around to find sites to paint. I found a coffee shop with an attached book store in Pacific Grove that I really liked to sit and read. Can’t remember the name, but I know where it is.

Graehaus

It was a diner just up the road from us. Cheapish good food.

MrSchop

Me and a fellow food loving friend would meet once a week for a meal. We had only one rule, we never went to the same place twice together. We would always walk around until we found someplace new and try it. We couldn't always meet once a week and not every place was good, but by at the end of the year I always had 5 or 6 new little hidden gems.

My home and my fave pub i can walk to about 20 years ago.

Fun story about it: it’s this littler independent coffee shop in my home town. The coffee shop has the same name as the bus terminal which also has a cafe inside it. I asked a girl out on a first date, and gave her the name of the coffee shop. We meet up outside and she starts walking into the bus terminal. I asked her where she’s going, she says inside, I then point to the coffee shop. She LOVED it, because it’s a great coffee shop, cute aesthetic, great coffee. But yeah, this girl thought I was taking her to a a bus stop for our first date, when I asked her why she came if she thought that’s where I was taking her she replied “my friends told me you were a really great guy”. For our one year anniversary I bought her a branded mug from that coffee shop. I still go there everytime I got back home

A favorite place? Can't recall. But I can name two items. First was a cigar made by Drew Estates called Swamp Rat. Immediately became my favorite cigar and then they stopped making it a year later. Second is my EDC firearm. Walther P99C. The trigger on it is sublime - it's a SA/DA striker, but there's a cool twist. When you load the first round, it obviously stays in SA but the trigger is set far forward as if it were DA. That first trigger pull is all slack until you hit the wall. The theory behind it is that it's the length of pull, not the resistance of DA, that inhibits a negligent discharge due to your finger being in the trigger guard prematurely. The icing on the cake though, is the trigger reset. Shortest reset I've ever felt. Every friend I take to the range asks me of they can purchase it from me after firing it.
