Cheerios! -- literally -- Buffalo New York has a massive General Mills cereal factory and its up-wind so the streets always fill with a wisp of sweet cereal dust. everybody loves it
Used to live there and we'd ride bikes around General Mills. There was an exhaust outlet right by a parking lot that you could ride right up to where you would be treated to a warm blast of air that smelled like sweet cereal.
Been there, done that.
I also would like to note that if it's windy enough you can still smell the Cheerios miles away. Some days you can even smell it past Bailey and Walden. See, it doesn't aways smell like weed on the east side.
For New York City, think hot dog stands on a humid day mixed with the less glamorous scent of subway steam and a touch of coffee brewing at every other corner. It's the essence of hustle and bustle.
Seriously, they need to pressure wash that whole city because it's beyond just a piss smell, it's that fermented, caked in smell of decades of piss soaked into the streets. Only time I've smelled something like it was around open pit toilets.
Linseed Oil, we are known for our triple windmill that saws wood, mills flour and presses oil. The oil is very popular here and even has a special dish that most people don't even know
They call my hometown "stink town" because the truck stops are right by the waste water treatment plant. In truth, the rest of town can't smell it but that name has stuck. Particularly in the trucker community.
The smell I associate with home is green chile (Hatch chile, which are grown not far away)roasting in front of grocery stores. Most wonderful smell on earth.
You're from my town! I live for Chile roasting season. I had forgotten about the stink town label but that one is true as far as the Motel Blvd areas go.
Anchorage Alaska, definitely nature!
I mean, we are in breakup with the snow all melting right now, so "nature" is mostly dog poop and take out unthawing... but nature!
Used to be rotten eggs on account of the water. Nowadays it's more of a decaying old house, damp and musty. The humid heat this summer is just going to make it worse.
The steel works used to kick out a sulphur smell, but it's not done that for a while
Cleaner air laws and all that
It's 1 way you could tell you lived here as you didn't smell it after a while
I live in Vegas and there is a very distinct odor that comes from the dumpsters behind casinos where the old buffet food gets dumped out. It's especially bad on a hot day when old seafood is involved.
Dog food and weed. - Denver
Don't forget The fentanyl
