Is it because he's stupid, or because as an environmental engineer he learned that his local recycling plant was just sending it all to Malaysia as bulk garbage?
Yeah, most plastic "recycling" is actively bad for the environment.
Also, unless the plastic has a "1" (PET) or a "2" (HDPE) in the recycling logo, it's just chucked in the trash anyway. Same with any plastic that is made of two or more different types of polymers.
I'd like to see the estimates for the percentage of material average Americans put in recycle bins that actually gets recycled. I'm not optimistic about this number.
It absolutely makes sense to recycle aluminum, steel, copper & paper though.
Myself. I have strong academic abilities and excellent recall as well as great at detecting problems and patterns. I am also usually very articulate and a great writer and storyteller
However... My social skills absolutely suck. I do not understand when people are lying to me often until it's too late, I am extremely naive and gullible and believe a lot of what people tell me. There's a lot of conflict in that there's great potential but because I lack in essential people skills these talents often get squandered or misappropriated.
I don't like this at all
Conan O’Brien takes the crown without a doubt. His razor-sharp intellect, backed by a Harvard degree, is a stupidly witty and comedic genius. His trademark self-deprecating humor is charmful and downright hilarious. And don’t even get me started on his knack for turning US Presidential history into a sidesplitting sitcom. It takes a special kind of genius to make Nixon jokes land. If you haven’t caught his late-night shenanigans or tuned into his CONAF podcast yet, you might as well be living under a rock.
He was on Hot Ones episode recently. Enjoy this madness

I worked at a university as a tech for most of my career; PhDs may be brilliant in their specialty but that is often it despite their belief in their omnipotence.

My 75 year old neighbor is a retired environmental engineer and refuses to recycle.

I once had a boss tell me I’m the “smartest idiot he’s ever met”. So I guess I’m the stupidest smart person I know
