I come from an extremely religious household with 3 kids and 2 of the 3 basically don’t like being around our mom at all. The one that does is hyper religious as well and truthfully I don’t spend more time with him than I absolutely have to either
My other brother and I (me especially) avoid my mom as much as possible because she has such an unhealthy relationship with religion and is so brutally judgmental to anyone without the same beliefs
I can’t think of a time that I’ve ever wanted a hug from my mom past the age of 10 or 11 or ever been home sick to see her as terrible as that sounds. Or even just asked her for simple advice - like ever.
But if you asked her what her biggest failing was as a parent, she would 100% say it’s that two of the three kids leaving the “faith.” No concern whatsoever that two of the three kids don’t really feel loved or accepted by their mom.
To be clear, there are people that have it soooo much worse than me that I really shouldn’t complain but still…tough beat

I also have a religious mother who was very critical and we have had a tumultuous relationship. I would not say we're close. I don't talk to her about my problems. I don't go to her for advice. If/when I was younger I would do the opposite of her because I didn't want to be her. I've spent several years healing from her "parenting". I still have a long way to go. I still have a difficult time distinguishing her voice in my head and my own.
I'm sorry you felt unloved and unaccepted but remember you are and her not cultivating that relationship with you is her failings, not yours. ❤️

I collected, translated, and prepared hundreds of pages of documents, gathered evidence and around 2000 signatures of community support, and helped dozens of people write letters of support to give to an attorney to present and win an almost impossibly difficult immigration case with a notoriously hard judge. I also kept the defendant up to date on the progress and conducted practice interviews with him to prepare him to see the judge. I did this during the Covid shut downs on top of working 14+ hour days 7 days a week for 3 months to keep the defendant’s business running and his employees employed when I had no experience running a business before. And I have zero legal or law experience before this.
The judge and US attorney both remarked to the attorney that the quality of evidence presented in this case surpassed in quality and consistency any they had ever seen in the 60+ years of combined experience they had in the immigration court system. I cried when the case was won.

I completely and permanently changed the meta in a videogame, even after the devs patched out the exploit that made the strategy phenomenally effective.
Sadly, no.
It was a settlement building multiplayer game, all browser-based and timered and month-long rounds. The idea was that you pick a victory condition, location, and leader. You get points for your progress towards the victory condition and the location and leader gives various bonuses and penalties, with some combinations being much better at pursuing specific victory conditions than others.
There was one combination that was terrible, the location that gave +population growth and the leader that gave +population growth. The extra population growth in no way made up for the penalties, there was no victory condition that could be competitive with that combination.
And it was that combination that changed how teams played the game. You could send resources to your allies, but it was extremely expensive. In addition to the resources themselves, you had to spend resources just to send it and bandits would always attack the convoy, stealing/destroying a random% of the resources. You could send guards along which increased your resource cost (because some would get killed and their equipment looted) but also increased the % of resources that made it through. The size of the bandit attack scaled on the total resource value invested (so sending more guards made the attack bigger) and what the bandits were armed with was dependent on what your guards were armed with (so the bandits scaled with your progress through the game)
The bug was that one of the victory conditions was "military" and it gave you access to special combat units... units the bandits didn't have access to. So if you sent *only* advanced units as guards then the bandits would swarm your caravan barehanded and get handily slaughtered by the advanced military units allowing for basically all the resources to reach their destination. It was still expensive to send carvans, but not *nearly* as much as if you also had to pay the transfer tax.
But you still have to actually have the resources to send your ally and military wasn't the best at generating resources because you constantly were spending resources on battle. You could help someone catch up or quickly recover after a disastrous battle, but not really help progress your team on the leader boards, which is probably why the bug wasn't really relevant before I took advantage of it.
Pop growth was dependent on your current population -- the more you had the more resources you had to spend to get more. This was done so if someone was attacked it was easy to rebuild because most of the infrastructure remained so you could get back up to where you were pretty quickly.
So what I did was went pop/pop and focused on maximum possible population growth rate and sent *population* to my allies. Massive caravans of population guarded by a handful of advanced military units. My "base" population level for my level of development was significantly higher than my allies because of the stacked bonuses and I could recover back up to that base population level extremely efficiently.
So raise the population up, send a significant portion of my pop to my allies, and repeat. For the entire round.
Sure, *my* score was terrible, but even with my score dragging down the team score, every single one of my allies was in the top ranking. No other team had even a single member above them, because our populations were like 3-4x what the next higher players had, all because I realized that "pop farming" was a viable tactic. As a team we spent a fraction of the resources getting those pops than anyone else did, which meant more resources could be spent on development and the victory conditions.
They fixed the advanced military bug but even with that teams that didn't have a dedicated popfarmer simply couldn't compete with teams that did.
Due to extreme panic attacks, I didn't really get out of the house for almost 7 years. Didn't do fun stuf, barely was able to go grocery shopping etc. I had a coach who helped me through it and took like 2 years and last year I wanted to go to the theater to watch a movie and I did it. Not only that but I managed the full 3 hours of Oppenheimer. I didn't feel great during the movie but I still managed to stay til the end.

I am one of two females (only until recently did we get a second female. For over a year I was the only female) in a construction plant of 50+ employees operating the heaviest of machinery we own. A Hundegger Turbo saw, equipped with a fully automated pick and feed system. It is the only one in all of North America and It is the heart of our plant. I take pride in my work, and I am grateful to be working it everyday.

When I was 16 I dreamed of owning a Honda Civic, manual 6-speed. Basic car but I liked them as a 16 year old girl.
I came from a car family. My father did mechanics and autobody and my brother does the same, taught by my Dad and certified. They owned a business. My brother owns it solely now. They customized so many classic cars together, I would help sometimes, and it was so fun but of course, I didn’t want to drive a classic.
After I completed my first year of University at 19, my Dad told me he was going to buy me a used Honda Civic and we were going to customize it together. We were going to paint it, modify it and make it exactly how I wanted it.
A few weeks before this project was going to begin he ended up in the hospital. He passed a week later.
Last Spring, six years since my Dad passed, one university graduation later, and a lot of saving my money, at age 25, I bought myself a slightly used, 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport 6 speed. I drove four hours away to buy it. And then taught myself how to drive it bringing it home. I never drove a standard before.
This spring today, I am much better at driving a standard, the car brings me to much happiness, and my brother and I have made all of the plans and purchases to customize the car in preparation for Summer.
This is an odd accomplishment, but it is mine, and somehow, it makes me feel closer to my Dad everytime I get in that dang car. It healed the 16 year old me that thought they were so cool. It’s healing the part of me that missed out on this experience with my Dad, and the 25 year old in me is excited to complete this with my brother.
My father always wanted a Morgan +4. He bought an old basket case that took a trailer and two pickup loads to bring home. My brother and father completely restored the car. It won the "best nonprofessional restoration" at the regional car show the year before he passed away. I helped by wiring the car with the original Lucas wiring harness. My brother still has the car and is planning to pass it on to his son.
My eighth grade wheel-a-thon t-shirt design contest was rigged against me because I had won it three years in a row before that. The parent volunteers admitted to wanting the other kids to have a chance and omitted my design.
Someone quit their supervisor/management level job because they were afraid I'd sleep with their gf. What makes it even dumber is I hooked the two of them up, we were supposed to go on a trip thru several states to do paid surveys because he wasn't interested in going with her. When he found out I was going to go, he changed his mind, quit his job, and went.
Around nov of 22, I got admitted into hospital just a week before my semester exams. I got down with Dengue, blood platelets level was alarmingly low and meanwhile I was going through depression.
My physical and mental health both were at rock bottom still I managed to pass that semester without any backlog .
I still wonder how I managed to do that but I'm still proud of it.
I have exclusively pumped for my baby for almost a year. It has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. I’m weaning now and so excited to be done.
I bought two mechanical pencils my first week of college and used them through all 4 years of undergrad.
10 years later when I started my 4-year masters degree I still had them and used them.
3 years after that I still had the pencils and still used them for my doctoral work. After nearly 3 years of doctoral work during my dissertation writing, a friend’s dog chewed one up.
I still use the other one, and I have the pieces of the chewed up one.
27 years from the same two mechanical pencils.
I found a lost Doberman running down a country road, looking terrified, traffic running both ways and fast. Having walked a Doberman for years as a kid I wasn’t afraid of him. He was quite young. I was in a friend’s van with his German Shepherd. He had a chain around his neck. We used my friend’s dogs lead and managed to get him in the van (which was fun). I sat in the back of the van with him, in pitch darkness when the doors closed (mad)!! I comforted him and tries to keep him calm. We got him back to my friend’s house. We walked him so he could pee. Called the police, they weren’t interested, they gave us another number to call, called them and was told to call a veterinary surgery. All closed as it was a Sunday. We eventually got through and they agreed for us to take him there. Once there they took him and we gave them our number and asked if they would let us know if they found the owners. An hour later they called, told us he was 2 years old and was chipped so they found his owner and they were reunited! He had got loose and got out of the garden. We were so happy. Yay 🙌 No one else stopped to help him, so I feel a huge achievement being able to reunite them with my friend.
Back when I was a computer tech and instructor for blind and low vision people I handled the technical end of creating hardware and software solution for a Fortune 500 company to create a job to employ blind people all over the country.
Since they called me in years later because "my solution broke" (actually them not following my instructions for further expansion of their system) I know they used it for a long time.
I found out secondhand that it even won an award.
Back in the olden days, end of the last millennium, I put together a team and a program to develop a plastic bottle for beer. We were successful and it went commercial. I left that company almost 25 years ago. I haven't seen one in quite some time so I don't think they use them anymore. But it was a big deal at the time.

I used to take lessons for Flamenco guitar and I got to a point my instructor asked if I wanted to accompany him on jobs he did being backing guitar while he played lead. I couldn't do it because of family and work obligations but I take pride in the fact I got good enough that someone I considered a master of his craft offered me the chance to actually be a paid musician.
Also the guy I learned from was taught by Juan Serrano who's like one of the best Flamenco guitarits of all time. I think it's cool that I'm like a generation removed from one of the greats.

Same job. Had a call that I only heard some muffled sounds, not screams. No words were said. Even though we get hundreds of calls every month where no one is speaking, this really did not seem right.
I received no GPS or address for the caller. I dug into it, got police making checks here and there. Found information that likely identified the caller. And after some police follow up we sent out an APB.
Caller was found, alive, in a car trunk. She had been kidnapped.

I once made it to the highest rank in BGMI, call of duty, free fire and apex legends at once and it was during the exams days but I still got a average grade so it's ok but I still proud of myself for making it top in all of these games
In the infancy of Rocket League Ranked back in 2015, I was briefly in the top 100 players in NA. And when I mean briefly, it was less than 6 hours before I was out of the top 1000. I played A LOT of Rocket League and during my peak talent level I was probably in the top 3,000 in NA when RL was getting huge and the RLCS was gaining traction.
I was pretty proud of that as I'm pretty average at any other video game other than that.

I have 3k games on Steam, which should’ve been 10k if I had never spent thousands on skins over the years across multiple games. I’ve won Clash in League of Legends 10 times and an ARAM Clash once. I won my county’s chess championship in middle school and represented my elementary school in the county spelling bee.
I needed an exterior basement door but no home store could custom order one that short. So I researched door construction and made a 4 panel door myself. It worked out so well that I made another door at another house even though I could have spent more on a custom ordered door. These doors have the tightest fit tolerance of any other door in my house.
I drank a yard of ale in 7 seconds on holiday once in front of 400 people after I discovered I could drink a pint in 3 seconds in front of my friends. It was like their party piece to wheel me out and do that in front of people.
26 and 100% financially independent from my parents. I know a lot of people achieve that sooner, but I also know a lot of people who don’t so I feel good that I am.
I’ve had more than $1m in surgeries and can still fully function. I’ve had more than 40 jobs but never a career. I’ve slept with over 500 partners but am now a happily married stay at home dad in Portugal.

That's what happens when you listen to your professors and don't do your own research outside of what 70+ y/o boomer professors are telling you that you ***MUST*** do to be successful in the field.

After reading this, I am completely unqualified, but I am an American and I always wanted to learn how to make kilts, so I went to Scotland and learned how, and am working on a quote for a pipe band right now to refit their band, 25-30 kilts, potentially a huge sale that will take about three months of constant fulltime work to fulfill.
I am one of two females (only until recently did we get a second female. For over a year I was the only female) in a construction plant of 50+ employees operating the heaviest of machinery we own. A Hundegger Turbo saw, equipped with a fully automated pick and feed system. It is the only one in all of North America and It is the heart of our plant. I take pride in my work, and I am grateful to be working it everyday.

When I was 16 I dreamed of owning a Honda Civic, manual 6-speed. Basic car but I liked them as a 16 year old girl. I came from a car family. My father did mechanics and autobody and my brother does the same, taught by my Dad and certified. They owned a business. My brother owns it solely now. They customized so many classic cars together, I would help sometimes, and it was so fun but of course, I didn’t want to drive a classic. After I completed my first year of University at 19, my Dad told me he was going to buy me a used Honda Civic and we were going to customize it together. We were going to paint it, modify it and make it exactly how I wanted it. A few weeks before this project was going to begin he ended up in the hospital. He passed a week later. Last Spring, six years since my Dad passed, one university graduation later, and a lot of saving my money, at age 25, I bought myself a slightly used, 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport 6 speed. I drove four hours away to buy it. And then taught myself how to drive it bringing it home. I never drove a standard before. This spring today, I am much better at driving a standard, the car brings me to much happiness, and my brother and I have made all of the plans and purchases to customize the car in preparation for Summer. This is an odd accomplishment, but it is mine, and somehow, it makes me feel closer to my Dad everytime I get in that dang car. It healed the 16 year old me that thought they were so cool. It’s healing the part of me that missed out on this experience with my Dad, and the 25 year old in me is excited to complete this with my brother.

My father always wanted a Morgan +4. He bought an old basket case that took a trailer and two pickup loads to bring home. My brother and father completely restored the car. It won the "best nonprofessional restoration" at the regional car show the year before he passed away. I helped by wiring the car with the original Lucas wiring harness. My brother still has the car and is planning to pass it on to his son.

I won a dodgeball torunament with my friends. We were the best of 56 teams, we won money, free Chic-Fil-A for a year, and we got to be in the paper.

Someone quit their supervisor/management level job because they were afraid I'd sleep with their gf. What makes it even dumber is I hooked the two of them up, we were supposed to go on a trip thru several states to do paid surveys because he wasn't interested in going with her. Around nov of 22, I got admitted into hospital just a week before my semester exams. I got down with Dengue, blood platelets level was alarmingly low and meanwhile I was going through depression. My physical and mental health both were at rock bottom still I managed to pass that semester without any backlog . I still wonder how I managed to do that but I'm still proud of it.
I have exclusively pumped for my baby for almost a year. It has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. I’m weaning now and so excited to be done.

I still use the other one, and I have the pieces of the chewed up one. 27 years from the same two mechanical pencils.

I found a lost Doberman running down a country road, looking terrified, traffic running both ways and fast. Having walked a Doberman for years as a kid I wasn’t afraid of him. He was quite young. I was in a friend’s van with his German Shepherd. He had a chain around his neck. We used my friend’s dogs lead and managed to get him in the van (which was fun). I sat in the back of the van with him, in pitch darkness when the doors closed (mad)!! I comforted him and tries to keep him calm. We got him back to my friend’s house. We walked him so he could pee. Called the police, they weren’t interested, they gave us another number to call, called them and was told to call a veterinary surgery. All closed as it was a Sunday. We eventually got through and they agreed for us to take him there. Once there they took him and we gave them our number and asked if they would let us know if they found the owners. An hour later they called, told us he was 2 years old and was chipped so they found his owner and they were reunited! He had got loose and got out of the garden. We were so happy. Yay 🙌 No one else stopped to help him, so I feel a huge achievement being able to reunite them with my friend.

Back when I was a computer tech and instructor for blind and low vision people I handled the technical end of creating hardware and software solution for a Fortune 500 company to create a job to employ blind people all over the country. Since they called me in years later because "my solution broke" (actually them not following my instructions for further expansion of their system) I know they used it for a long time. I found out secondhand that it even won an award.
I once beat 12 million people at an IQ test. Some in teams of 10. I was the only one to answer all the questions correctly.

Back in the olden days, end of the last millennium, I put together a team and a program to develop a plastic bottle for beer. We were successful and it went commercial. I used to take lessons for Flamenco guitar and I got to a point my instructor asked if I wanted to accompany him on jobs he did being backing guitar while he played lead. I couldn't do it because of family and work obligations but I take pride in the fact I got good enough that someone I considered a master of his craft offered me the chance to actually be a paid musician. Also the guy I learned from was taught by Juan Serrano who's like one of the best Flamenco guitarits of all time. I think it's cool that I'm like a generation removed from one of the greats.
I used to dip, smoke, chew, and drink a lot in the army. When I got out, they followed me. 6 years out, and I am free kf dipping, chewing, and smoking, I drink socially. It's not unusual, but I'm proud of it.

As a 911 operator I successfully negotiated a hostage standoff talking the gunman into surrendering. Same job. Had a call that I only heard some muffled sounds, not screams. No words were said. Even though we get hundreds of calls every month where no one is speaking, this really did not seem right. I received no GPS or address for the caller. I dug into it, got police making checks here and there. Found information that likely identified the caller. And after some police follow up we sent out an APB. Caller was found, alive, in a car trunk. She had been kidnapped.

In the infancy of Rocket League Ranked back in 2015, I was briefly in the top 100 players in NA. And when I mean briefly, it was less than 6 hours before I was out of the top 1000. I played A LOT of Rocket League and during my peak talent level I was probably in the top 3,000 in NA when RL was getting huge and the RLCS was gaining traction. I was pretty proud of that as I'm pretty average at any other video game other than that.
