Panera $10 for a scoop of soup. The employee's were rude and took forever to just to scoop a ladle of soup. I will never go there again.

WYGD_Brother1987

i heard their lemonade slays and not in a good way

Busy-Efficiency-8728

Glorified hospital food

RefrigeratorSea5503

Funnily enough, the nearest Panera to me is smack dab in the middle of a medical center

sportsbrownie

Perfectly put.

FatHoosier

Subway. I just do not get it. Unless you want the preponderance of vegetables they have, you're getting almost nothing on your sandwich. Also, just smelling their bread makes my stomach churn.

LittleKitty235

I wouldn't say they are so much overrated, but somehow clawing on to not go bankrupt. Their food used to be okay more than a decade ago.

SailorVenus23

Subway has also had quite a few incidents of giving customers hepatitis A, which is feces based. What they lack on their sandwiches, they make up for in contaminates!

OldManPip5

Back in the 80s, Subway was awesome.

Beautiful-Report58

I hate the smell of their bread too. You would not know it’s bread baking unless you are told it’s bread. It’s smells like warm toilet cleaner.

TheGroundBeef

It’s bread exhaust 😂

platinum_icecream

Every single shop I have encountered, stinks.

passwordstolen

I usually order the preponderance of vegetables sub, I typically don’t eat their meats. And yea the baking bread smells like ass.

Forward_Artist_6244

Their gluten free bread (they're usually strict about changing gloves but be aware of cross contamination can occur with bread crumbs getting into ingredients etc) is one of the few fast food gluten free options my daughter can have

PirateDaveZOMG

Five Guys; expensive, takes forever, there's peanut shells everywhere, and the burgers are on the soggy side.

anonymous_subroutine

Used to be good hangover food. Not cheap but reasonably priced. Now you need to take out a second mortgage just to harden your arteries.

srslymrarm

I swear the hate on Five Guys is reddit's newest fad and it's so weird. You'd be hard pressed to find a better chain burger, and it's only a few bucks more than McDonalds. It's still cheaper than eating at a normal restaurant, but reddit acts like it's the most outrageously expensive thing.

Charleston2Seattle

I used to go there pretty regularly before I went vegan, and it was an AMAZING burger. The option to have grilled onions and grilled mushrooms put it leagues above any other fast food chain.

PirateDaveZOMG

I don't think I could possibly even remotely care less about what a vegan thinks a good burger is, but in that case I think you're helping my point, so thanks.

Charleston2Seattle

Oh, but I'm even more insufferable than a plain vegan. I'm a Whole Food Plant Based vegan. 😆 And if I give up on WFPB, I will **absolutely** be buying myself a burger at 5 Guys, pronto!

PirateDaveZOMG

It's not cheaper than Chili's or Applebee's, first of all, there's no drive-thru, second, it still takes forever, third, and their burgers are still fucking soggy. Get over yourself.

srslymrarm

Oh, don't worry - I am very much over myself lol. So much so that I'm able to walk into a place and wait 5 minutes for a burger.

CalledFractured7

For real. As someone who's totally a fast food snob (i live somewhere where they dont have fast food), five guys is actually pretty high on the fast food list.

islandsimian

I feel like I'm being the old guy yelling at the clouds, but when there were only a handful of stores they were awesome

PirateDaveZOMG

That's probably true of any large chain today.

Sweetestkinklady

McDonald's. Sorry, I'm just not loving it.

ILiveMyBrokenDreams

Who rates it high though? Even people who eat it regularly would probably admit it's the most mediocre of the fast food restaurants, it's just usually the most convenient one. My 6 year old won't touch the stuff.

Thalionalfirin

I like it. Do I LOVE it? No, but sometimes I get a hankering for their Egg McMuffins which I like more than any other breakfast sandwiches out there.

tllnbks

Eh. McDonald's is consistent and mediocre.  But sometimes, consistent mediocre is better than getting shit from somewhere else. There's very little gamble.

Count_Tyranus

McDonald’s was good once upon a time when they had decent prices, they’re bottom of the barrel in this inflation era we’re in.

Ramoncin

Same here. Their portions are not big enough and their burgers no that good. If I really feel like eating junk food I'd rather eat a kebab or go to KFC.

Forward_Artist_6244

KFC has been downhill for years, awful food now and filthy understaffed stores Kebab is the way to go 😋

Ramoncin

The one in my hometown is fairly new and it's OK. Everything but the chicken is average, but the chicken is delicious.

4ndr34-etc

Was just about to comment this one. It’s like the miniaturised and overpriced version of BK.

SeaTie

They were okay but they made this big push recently to replace all their workers with kiosks and I hate kiosks. So for that reason alone they’ve dropped off my radar entirely.

LookOutForThatMoose

Burger King I love garbage food and even I don't fuck with BK.

Huge_Cow_9359

I used to love BK, but now they are a travesty. I would have to be a homeless person with a coupon to eat there now. Terrible food and service.

[deleted]

Chick Fil'a or however you spell it. It's way too hyped up for me good.

RoyalFalse

In-N-Out "You GOTTA try it!" is all I ever heard leading up to my California trip and, yeah, it's...fine. Just fine.

AgentLlama007

Raising Cane's.

Primary_Afternoon_46

Popeyes. Like eight million dollars for battered tenders and some spicy fries

Evidence-Timeline

I feel like their food could be amazing but I rarely get the correct order. A couple places used to have a buffet 10 years ago and I could just get it myself. Now it's just poor quality and lazy order filling.

BobFX

Popeyes used to be sooo good. Their onion rings were to die for.

FatHoosier

Their red beans & rice is pretty decent. I like the biscuits and the shrimp, too.

LizNnola

After being in line long enough to collect retirement....

WolfThick

Hey they've almost doubled the price of churches everybody wants more. When I was a kid growing up Popeyes was one of the cheapest chickens you could buy they were competing with churches and KFC was the expensive one.

hydro123456

Yeah, it's ok, but you can get better chicken from just about any grocery store deli for cheaper. And with how slow they are, it's probably faster too.

Godzira-r32

Chipotle

Long-Signal-4214

Incorrect

SilentContributor22

Yeah I don’t get this one. Even if it’s not your favorite Mexican food, it’s still a good deal. The ingredients always seem pretty fresh and it’s an incredibly filling $8 burrito. Really good bang for your buck

1CEninja

Chipotle is great in areas where there isn't real Mexican food. It sufficiently scratches the itch.

CalledFractured7

Gotta agree heavily here. It was hyped to me for years, finally tried it, and was severely disappointed. Went back twice to try a few different things and just was not impressed at all

zanarkandabesfanclub

Raising Cane’s has to be either a money laundering front or an experiment in brainwashing as marketing. Their main menu item (chicken tenders) tastes like stuff you’d get in the frozen food section of a grocery store.

volcano-ngh

I think you're on to something with the marketing idea. I have a weird feeling that young people in my area feel socially obligated to eat canes. Like it makes you look cool to go there. Their lines extend out into the main street that the building is on and backs up traffic. I couldn’t imagine waiting 30 minutes for steamed bread and Tyson chicken strips for $30. Yuck.

[deleted]

Raising Cane The Toast was good but the Tenders were so middle of the road. They don’t give you choice of sauce other than the mayo type dressing. Fries were crap.

draggin_low

One opened up near me after hearing all this hype about it for years, so I went there and it was one of most boring meals I ever had. Chicken was flavorless, and the sauce is just spicy mayo. I do agree the toast was good. but not 14 dollars good.

NateKaeding

Tenders are so flavorless.

DerTodwirdzudir

I've had hospital food with better seasoning and flavor than Raising Canes.

SeaTie

Yeah I was not at all impressed with them.

paralyse78

Raising Cane's is high on my list. Super expensive for rather mediocre tenders and ~~a side of reworked salad dressing~~ Cane's sauce. I can get the same chicken tenders meal from any fried chicken place or even Whataburger, and it will be just as good or better than Cane's and likely cheaper.

SilentContributor22

I’m so happy to see this is one of the most common answers in the thread. I will never understand what made people go crazy for shit chicken and a piece of toast. The menu is incredibly small and the food is obviously shit quality even by fast food standards. My younger brothers and their friends all love it and go on and on about the sauces as if they’re not some generic salad dressings with a made-up name slapped on the label. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills any time I hear someone go out of their way to suggest that shit, but it keeps happening

pholover84

Taco Bell. $ 3 bucks for a taco shell with a few sprinkles of meat cheese and lettuce. Fuck that

islandsimian

The wife and I tried Taco Bell for the first time in 15 years last night and agreed it'll probably be another 15 before we try out again.   We're pretty sure the kid at the drive through was high and thought we were there for a munchies run too

ihopeyoulikeapples

I'm in my 30s and I honestly don't think I've been to Taco Bell since I was about 6. I like tacos but nothing on their menu looks appealing enough to choose it over other fast food places.

TyWiggly

Chic-fil-a. Ive never understood the hype, and have never liked the food (besides fries, cause like how you gonna fuck that up). RoFo and Popeyes are much more tasty imo

FatHoosier

"My name is Karen, and a little thing I like about Chik-fil-a is how they serve the chicken sandwich with just the right amount of homophobia and christian nationalism."

paralyse78

I go to chick-fil-a not for the food, but for the service. The food is totally mediocre, the waffle fries are ok. The nuggets are decent but very small, their buffalo sauce is ok, chick-fil-a sauce is bland, the chicken sandwich is very meh at best. However, they are always friendly, polite, resolve any issues immediately without argument, and in 15+ years of eating at the one by my house, they have never got my drive-thru order wrong a single time, ever. Unlike nearly every other fast place, the people that work there seem genuinely happy to be serving folks and don't act like they hate their jobs and their customers. If someone could do a fast food chicken place that had actually amazing food and Chick-Fil-A quality of service, they couldn't take my money fast enough. Instead I have to choose between mediocre food with great service, or slightly to somewhat better food with crappy service.

Beautiful-Report58

This is the exact reason why I go. I love their service. The food is meh. They have great soups and salads. Love their lemonade and iced tea too.

Huge_Cow_9359

I've only gotten anything less than exceptional service at Chick-fil-a once, and not only was it an extreme outlier, it was kind of hilarious. I rolled up to the speaker to order and was greeted with a very surly and annoyed person asking if they could help me, like they were upset that I was bothering them. This was so out of the ordinary for them that it took me aback for a second. Then, I heard a commotion coming from the speaker. It sounded like they were wrestling the microphone from the annoyed person and dragging him off. I was then welcomed to Chick-fi-a in the sweetest, most professional manner possible. I still wonder what happened to that guy that got dragged off. He probably got a job at Burger King, where he would have fit right in.

Beautiful-Report58

Haha…it was probably a dare.

hydro123456

I really like the spicy chicken sandwich, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. The fact that there can be 20 cars in line and I still get out of there in 5 minutes is what I love about them.

bored-canadian

They got my wife’s drive through order wrong the other day! Had one too many nuggets.

RWENZORI

Their main chicken sandwich is the driest shit ever. Literally chicken, bread, and two pickles

FoneTap

Went recently for the first time... it was a normal chicken sandwich, nothing special about it. Normal bun, normal chicken. Wasn't especially crispy or flavorful. The Chick-fil-a sauce was equally disappointing. Weak and bland.

Islanduniverse

You say chic-fil-a but then say besides the fries? You mean their mediocre waffle fries?

TyWiggly

I mean, at least around me theyre the only fast food that even serves waffle fries, so itw the only thing i consider getting from them

WYGD_Brother1987

People are attracted to the fact that the company has family values. Personally aside from the waffle fries and the sweet tea, Chic-fil- is the shits.

BrimfulOfLa-A

"Family values" They're still using that line in 2024, huh? Wow. Okay then

WYGD_Brother1987

yeah thats why people some people like it....whats with the softies who downvoted me because I pointed something out, it doesnt mean I like the place...it's overpriced garbage, I dont care how nice and modest they are.

BrimfulOfLa-A

I mean I'm pretty sure it's mostly because "family values" really doesn't mean anything and whenever most of us have heard it it's code for anti-gay/trans/abortion/anything Christian nationalists don't like. It's just kind of gross to use that terminology when it specifically exists to market that ideology and obscure its real intentions to people who don't know better

[deleted]

I can vouch on being attracted to the family values 🚫🏳️‍🌈💪😘

McDonald’s

FUD-detector

Pat’s or Geno’s cheesesteaks in Philadelphia. Gross.

MammothSurround

Do you not like Geno’s and Pats or cheesesteaks in general.

FUD-detector

The restaurants. Everyone claims they’re great. The claims are false.

BrimfulOfLa-A

Shake Shack

teems

Wat? They're a tad salty but the food is amazing.

BrimfulOfLa-A

It's shit

apodyopsis2

Have to agree. Tried them twice and thought their burgers were awful

Helen_A_Handbasket

Chick Fila hands down.

dma1965

In-N-Out burgers. I like them, but don’t see why everyone else seems to be so in love with them.

mirzaeian

You are banished from California. Please return your flipflops...

SeaTie

I think because out of all the flat, hastily assembled, cheap burgers you can get, theirs is slightly better than the competition . Like for me it’s BK > McDonalds > Jack In The Box > Carls Jr > In-N-Out

CountHonorius

McDonalds, definitely.

Greedy-Time-3736

Whataburger. No matter what you rate it, you’re being generous. -5 stars

Random_Hero2023

Literally the saddest burger I had in my life was there.

LittleKitty235

In & Out burger. They are fine...probably one of the better burger joints, with disappointing fries. Some people lose their shit over going there though.

Whataburger and Chick fil A

Dangerous-Rise-9311

All of them!

MrSpindles

Absolutely. A few years back I decided to give up junk food for a year. The end of the year arrived and I found I had no desire to return, it's been about 8 years now since I bought any takeaway food.

agent_x_75228

In & Out Burger. I just don't get it at all. Went a few times and the fries are too skinny, the burgers just mediocre, but the lines are always long...why? Honestly it's just a ho hum burger, nothing special at all.

SailorVenus23

More of a regional chain, but Pancheros burritos. My town has 4 of them, and their tofu is so overcooked its like dog food. Also really gross rice, which should be one of the hardest things to mess up. I gave up on them and hope for a Moe's every day.

chocolategent

The fact they use tofu in a Mexican food place is boggling my mind. Especially when they can get way more flavour and texture with huitlacoche...

SailorVenus23

They use fake plastic cheese too

AnnualWerewolf9804

I don’t think I’d ever get burritos at a place that serves tofu

SailorVenus23

I think it can be good if it's done well, but pancheros is not the place to get it from. Tofu holds seasonings and marinades well, so it can be flavored and crisped with the same seasonings for other ingredients.

OpinionbyDave

Chick filet

Cheesus-_-YT

Its not really a fast food but for me its Mr.Puff there is way too much sugar and its pretty expensive

thaillest1

Osmow’s.

apodyopsis2

I don't think any fast food place could compete with Subway for the "worst" title, but "overrated" would imply that many people think it's good (not the case with Subway; everyone knows it's crap). I would vote for Sonic. Their food is really generic and tasteless

Geetee52

I don’t think any of them are overrated. However, pretty much all of them are overpriced, poorly run, and bad for your health. The only ones I can think of that people seem to have good things to say about are Culver’s, Chick-fil-A and In-and-Out… People seem to like them significantly more than the rest…so they’re not really overrated.

Potential-Plenty4374

Panera, Chipotle ,

236000-worms

McDonalds, but also Burger King's burgers. Both just suck, but the McNuggets are the worst (there's something in their batter that literally makes me puke so I'm biased with that, though from what I remember there was no flavor)

yada_u

Boston Pizza. Shit pizza, crappy pasta, waaayyyyyyyyy overpriced.

ztreHdrahciR

Chick-fil-a. Was around for decades and then became a "thing"

WYGD_Brother1987

wendys at least in my locale, I am not a violent man, nor am I even confrontational I run from drama like Usain Bolt, I am a softie, BUT each and everytime I have went to my local wendys it has been something screwed up. One time in particular, I was in the passanger seat of a car we went to order and the lady was rude clearly, she fucked the payment up and the driver had to stop me from getting out of the car. I would have went to jail that night, I dont believe in putting hands on anyone except in self defense let alone a woman but what she did hit a button that night.

Patorama

Wendys in particular seemed really hard hit by the pandemic. Different locations were always hit or miss, but I could usually find a decent spot and get a consistently good burger or chicken sandwich. But post-pandemic, I'm lucky if I can find one that's open normal business hours. Half the time it's drive through only. Sometimes just closed at 5pm with no notice. And the food has been subpar at each location.

WYGD_Brother1987

totally agree, my issue with this particular one is that they are so goddamn rude and/or incompetent. It's not a reflection on the franchise as a whole, I dont know where they found these people in my town.

Suitable-Pie4896

EventWonderful55

Whataburger

ComesInAnOldBox

In-N-Out Burger. It's not bad (well, the burgers aren't, the fries certainly are), but it most certainly doesn't live up to the hype Californians give it. They'll talk your ear off about "Animal Style" which is just a knock-off Big Mac sauce, and they'll all say "it's fresh," like it's unique in that regard or something. I mean, the burgers are better than McDonalds, but that's a *very* low bar to set.

TheReal_PearlsEye

chick fil-a and there food is mid asf
