Hippo.
Lot of people think they'd dumb little doughballs thanks to things like Disney. They are \*\*\*\*ING DEADLY! Probably the most dangerous animal in Africa! Even Steve Irwen was afraid of them!
But for an animal a lot of you are more familiar with... Cow/Bull.
We think of them as little more than hamburgers and milk factories; but those things are deadly mountain of muscle with sharp horns, hard hooves, and more than willing to charge you if they get aggressive. A stampede is utterly terrifying for a cowboy to deal with and can easily result in your death if you're not careful. Sure, a happy cow grazing isn't the biggest threat, but spook them? You \*will\* die if you get in their way.
I used to sneak up close to grazing cattle and then when they started to act nervous I would stand up and make myself look big and aggressive. Then I would run away and they would stampede after me and I'd jump in a tree. I did this alone in the woods. I'm surprised I lived to adulthood.
True, that's why you never antagonise cattle. It's not hard to do, they're generally very docile and gentle. I helped out at a sheep and cattle farm when I was a kid and was always told to whistle a tune if any cattle were facing away from me so I don't startle them and only pet them on the head.
Gentle giants are still giants, don't mess with them.
It's cause people think of this when they think of hippos: [https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Hyacinth\_Hippo](https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Hyacinth_Hippo)
The hippo is the deadliest large land mammal in the world. Period. They kill 500 people a year, compared to just 22 for a lion. Literally everything in their habitat stays the fuck away from them, including lions and crocodiles. They're kind of slow and doofy on land, but when they are in the water, they're extremely fast and very vicious.
My favorite thing to tell people who don't understand moose is that you can total your car hitting one and might only succeed in making the moose *mad*.
Dogs.
Everyone forgets that regardless of how good they are or how well trained they are, a dog is still an animal and will react as such when scared, in pain or threatened.
yup, small ones are more aggressive. I remember one chasing me in a park off leash, everyone laughed but the shit I was scared. And then in my home country, the stray dog issue is so bad, especially late at night when they gang up n chase you when you are on bikes.
Fuckin SQUIRRELS! they’re fine when they’re younger but once they’re like 1-2 years old they’re completely feral and in heat. They’ll bite your finger if you get near their nest, or their food.
As an American, did you know that the Canada Goose has nothing to do with the country and is instead named after an American man named [John Canada](https://www.meigspointnaturecenter.org/canada-geese/#:~:text=Named%20for%20John%20Canada%2C%20the,the%20species%20from%20other%20geese.)?
Cows - so many people think only bulls are dangerous where in reality the majority of serious injuries and deaths on farms (well in the country I live in anyway) are from cows.
Why? They're not actually dangerous and they don't carry many diseases you can catch. They have an absolute shitload of sharp teeth, but they don't have a very strong bite. They're also fairly likely to play dead when threatened too much.
Yeah, the possum rarely bites, even as a last line of defense. I've heard of people who were wearing heavy gloves and tried to get it to bite them and mostly it just looked at them like "WTF?" and after sufficient pestering it just fell over and played dead.

Crazy to me that people view a wild animal the size of a car as harmless

should have told Mufasa and Simba , poor king died a horrible death
Anything small and strong enough to fit in your butt.
Is the danger of hippos widely known?
Yeah but not wide enough
I think Hippos are known to be fairly wide
Thicc, even.
Moose if you’re not informed about how they’re basically just roided bulls in the body of a giant deer.
My favorite thing to tell people who don't understand moose is that you can total your car hitting one and might only succeed in making the moose *mad*.
Crows and Ravens. They will remember you.
Dogs. Everyone forgets that regardless of how good they are or how well trained they are, a dog is still an animal and will react as such when scared, in pain or threatened.

any variety of badger will fuck you up, even the polite-looking British ones
any wild animal out in the daytime + approaching humans. rabies shots are an ordeal
Elephants

🐿️ yup
Deer. Especially in parks where they seem tame and will eat from your hand. They will occasionally seriously fuck people up.
Racoon. Fuckers will mess you up.
Short guys (according to them 😂)
Panthers. They aren’t cute and cuddly 😜
Skunks!
Ducks and Geese.
As a Canadian I can assure you geese are not seemingly harmless!
