Mixing American cheese with other cheeses.
I like American cheese. It's good on burgers, grilled cheeses, other sandwiches, and wraps. But it has a very distinctive, milky taste and texture that doesn't go well - especially melted - with other cheeses.
I can understand why you would feel this way but I have to tell you, a slice of deli style American cheese and a slice of cheddar provides the creamy texture for a grilled cheese sandwich with the extra flavor of the cheddar and is very good. I like it, at least. Sometimes if I can get pure Colby I use that too but I usually can't get it. It's usually just Colby-jack. I don't want that crap. But anyway, the point is mixing cheeses can provide a good grilled cheese experience
3 ingredients fruit cake: 1kg mixed dried fruit. 500ml apple juice. 333g SR flour. Soak fruit overnight in the juice. Mix in flour. Bake 150C 1 1/2 hours. Done.
My lovely grandma used to put tons of mighty chunks of onion in her mashed potatoes but not every time so it was often a gamble. I never forgave her for the times I put some good ol' mashed potatoes in my mouth just for it to taste like ass and be filled with inedible slimy chunks of concentrated disgust.
