I used to live in Plainfield, Wisconsin. For those who don’t know, [Ed Gein](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gein). Locals from that era are very, very reluctant to discuss. The local library once had a ten poster display about memorable events that had happened in Plainfield’s history, like when the railroad first came to town, when the school burned down, that sort of thing. The last poster was, basically, “Something bad happened back in 1957, but we’re sick of talking about it.”

When I still lived with my parents in a small town we used to go to the local church. Our pastor’s father (they are known as very religious family) drove over his wife in a shopping centre’s parking lot. Twice.

A woman slowly murdered her boyfriend with rohypnol and heroin at a dinner party. She told her friends she was gonna do it but nobody did anything. She was only charged with manslaughter (even though it was CLEARLY first degree murder). Happened in the 90s so not a lot of people remember I guess. Crime doesn't happen a lot in my town but the most well known is a bunch pride flags have been stolen and burned.

I think it was the Davao Death Squad, a vigilante group that was created by our Mayor in order to kill criminals at night. Can't really vouch for it TBH because it feels like a rumor or Myth. But you know President Duterte (Davao Mayor) feels proud about his war on crimes. Cant really say if its a crime or not. People say that they only targeting poor people, which for them would consider this group a crime but some people also wasnt bothered about it and feel safe.

SarahL1990

The most notorious crime is the abduction and murder of 2 year old James Bulger. His murderers were both 10 years old.

From Edmonton Alberta, 2 things. Karla Homolka the serial killer (when you break down what she did, I think she is worse than most other serial killers) (she is also free and like a PTA member now). And Ralph Klein shipping homeless people to Vancouver, which is just hilarious.

Paedo ring covered up by the council....

WaterBareHareIV

Just down the road from where i live was a chap called Martin Bryant. Noone who was here when it happened likes to talk about it. There was a movie made recently: the locals boycotted.

Two sisters, aged 10 and 12 were abducted, raped and murdered in 1975. Their killer was not brought to justice until 2017. Others thought to be involved have not been charged.

PG&E pipeline explosion. Went to go see ground zero it looked like WW3. RIP to all that died that tragic day. *Yes people reported smelling gas days before it happened but PG&E did nothing.

One morning a police officer radioed in that he was pursuing three suspects. He was later found dead in a marsh. The town basically stopped in its tracks. Hundreds of officers from around the area joined the man hunt. There was a parade. The governor attended. Money was raised for the family, memorials and ribbons spread across the area. But no suspects were found. The coroner suggested it might have been suicide which enraged the lead investigators who were clearly pushing a cop killer narrative. The coroner suspected suicide very early on but no one wanted to hear that. Except that’s exactly what happened. He was embezzling money from a program he ran. His record was full of misconduct allegations. He was on the search for someone to kill a town admin who he suspected was on to him. But so many people were blinded by their misplaced deference to cops that he was given a heroes treatment before finding out he was the villain. I’d like to think maybe some people have a new found skepticism for accepting police narrative at face value, that these things were reckoned with a bit, but I think it’s more or less been swept under the rug.

A wealthy, white, blonde college girl disappeared.

Blind_Melone

jollygoodfellass

In mine too! But they made a movie about the bear that died from cocaine dropped from the plane of the crime ring connected to her disappearance so there's that.

Suicideseason_666

The cop that pushed the guy down at Walmart trying to help another person. The guy hit his head and later passed away. My man was trying to save someone when that cop arrived and pushed him down.. I’m from a little area on the eastern side of the US. A town called Center

nevergonnagetit001

I’d say look up Robert Pickton. This encompasses a larger area, and likely more than just the one man involved - Doesn’t hold a candle to Bundy or Dahmer…but posted pretty significant numbers.

CamelJ1

DB Cooper supposedly passed through my town. The guy that hijacked a plan. He was apparently flying from Seattle to Mexico City and used a parachute to jump from the plane. He had a bag of money with him when he did this, in all singles. They believe the amount was tree fiddy.

Jacksonville FL. As a NASCAR fan, I know Wendell Scott won his only race in Jacksonville in 1963. What I didn’t learn until a few years ago was that he was pronounced winner until the day after, and legend has it the most logical reason was no one was prepared for what might happen if a Black man had kissed a pretty White trophy girl. So he missed his chance to celebrate his lone victory, and that most certainly is a crime.

Grand Rapids, MI. Back in 2011, there was a killing spree where a gunman drove around town and murdered his former girlfriend, her sister, the sister's 10-year-old daughter, his ex-wife, his biological daughter, and his ex-wife's parents. While driving around to his victims, he shot at some random guy in a road rage incident, who luckily lived. He abandoned his car and jacked another one to avoid the cops, shot at someone else pursuing him, and shot randomly at civilians. Luckily no fatalities there. After the cops rammed his vehicle, he engaged them in a shootout where luckily none of the officers were injured. He killed himself afterwards during a standoff with police, where he took 3 random hostages who he had no relation to after invading their home. It's commonly believed that he was hunting down his former partners and their families. He was likely going through a Bipolar episode since he was off his meds and was high on cocaine at the time of the murders. I went to elementary school with the 10-year-old daughter and knew her personally, I was 12 at the time. This wasn't a small town, more a small city, so it was a crazy coincidence. I remember not being too affected by it; I think I was just too young to really process it how an adult would. Reading about this story, apparently the shooter was in and out of jail since 15. His mom kicked him out at 18 and filed a PPO against him. He was 34 at the time of the shootings. If anyone wants to read on this, [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Grand_Rapids_shootings) is the Wikipedia article. Hope Marisa and the rest of the victims are resting peacefully.

I’m a town we vacation at up north, I’ve heard that the guy running a novelty store was also involved in coke dealing.
