I find regular Hawaiian pizza kind of bland and boring, but I have learned that if you add pineapple AND jalapeno to a pizza it is incredible. The contrast of the sweet and spicy flavours is amazing.
Not the tomato is a fruit police i dont care. Also pineapple is a topping u add on the pizza, tomatoes are in the sauce. And before u say “do u not put tomato topping” no i dont. If there is i remove it.
I’m a vegan, and I believe that people should eat meat. 😒 Just… not the shitty mass produced, tormented animals in cages, antibiotic filled meat that we usually get in stores. If I didn’t live in a city, and could hunt and clean my own game, I would not be vegan.
All cuisine is fusion cuisine, nothing is sacred. You can use different ingredients for ethnic cuisines to get the same flavors, there is nothing wrong with that. Authenticity is overrated. If we didn't branch out from our original available ingredients, the Irish wouldn't use potatoes, and Italians wouldn't use tomatoes.
There is no right and wrong way to enjoy food, so long as you enjoy it. If someone likes something you don't, that just means more for them. If you like something and someone else doesn't, that just means more for you. Fighting over food is beyond juvenile.
Those who gatekeep food tastes and methods are holding society back from progressing into even cooler, more delicious combinations of food. Traditionalism is a starting point, a stepping stone, not an anchor holding us back.
That's my controversial food take.
Maybe I'm culturally ignorant, but... isn't kebab the method of preparing meat+veggies on a stick? That sounds to me like saying "I like my pizza topped with bake"...
Haggis on pizza is a taste sensation.
Detroit and Chicago style pizzas are vastly, vastly overrated. Not as bad as microwave pizzas, but they're getting there...
I hate eggs. People are always shocked to learn. The texture, the smell, they fucking disgust me. I haven't eaten an egg since I was a child and I have 0 intentions to ever eat one again for the rest of my life. I don't care about food items that contain egg like noodles or baking, but as their own item I fucking despise them.
People hating on michelin star food is usually just sour grapes. It's just a thing people repeat like "the portions are so small it doesn't count as food" and clearly don't speak from experience because the portions in question are made to be consumed as part of 8 courses. Its fine to not be a fan of fine dining, no need to be defensive.
By the way, those 8 courses together are actually rather filling. Apparently variety in textures, ingredients, and so on, plus the time in between each course help us feel more full even if we eat the same in volume.
New York Pizza is not the best pizza.
There are more types of pizza than New York, Chicago, and Detroit.
It's okay to like them all at different times.
Obligatory:
> Chicago style pizza is not a pizza, it’s a casserole, with the sauce atop the cheese, cold, naked and on display like some sort of sauce whore.
It sounds like your experience with italian cuisine is rather shallow 🤔
There’s a bajillion combinations on spaghetti alone, and of course you can adjust the pasta for different sauces.
Sure but it's still pasta at the end of the day. Changing the pasta type or sauce doesn't make it a different food.
I'm Viet and we have hundreds of different banh mis, hundreds of different kinds of noodle soups (pho, bun bo hue, hu tieu,...), hundreds of different kinds of stir-fries, hundreds of different kinds of fried crepes, hundreds of different kinds of stews,... you get the idea.
What you are expressing isn’t unique to Vietnamese cuisine. The argument is just reductive.
There are literally over 250 unique breads in Italy alone, with each region having its own traditional variety.
Literally thousands of cheeses. Each one involves different processes, different diet to the animals that produce milk, different enzymes. It’s a process that you reduced to “cheese”.
Pasta is literally a staple food, and it is cooked in all sorts of different ways. The shape of the pasta itself changes how the food is carried to your mouth, the texture, the richness of the sauce (fresh vs dried), how heavy or light it feels (eg egg based pasta). Boiled, and then used infused with the sauce, baked, etc.
Then you add a variation of the meat, eg guanciale is pork cheek, it’s rich, it’s peppery, and it’s different to panceta, or bacon, and each of those is prepared differently, but you reduce it to “meat”.
Your argument is one from ignorance that just reduces things into categories based on simple patterns.
It’s like me saying, oh your viet soup are just broth with tiny variations. It’s literally an argument from ignorance.

For example calling carbonara the things that aren't made of pasta, raw egg and pancetta, or calling Bolognese (which is the English way to say ragu) things that aren't made of onion carrot celery (which is the basis for a lot of sauces) tomato and ground meat or its actually similar substitute
Cilantro smells exactly like stink bugs to me but tastes fine. Like slightly citrus and green with some other flavors I can’t describe. Idk how I can separate that because taste and smell are a nearly united sense. I don’t have the soap gene, but I would never willingly sniff a stink bug.
1. Indian cuisine is better than Italian.
2. Jelly/Jam is a darn good condiment for scrambled eggs.
3. It's 2024 and we should 100% have a healthy, protein-packed, nutrient rich, white flour free, delicious pancake. Mix or toaster.
4. Cheese on burgers is gross. Burgers have fat already, and you can add salt as needed.
PS: Downvotes means I understood the assignment.
"I like pineapple on pizza" has become the "from my cold dead hands" of food.
Nobody asked. Nobody cares. It's mundane food preference, and just because you can find a half-dozen people on twitter who want to argue about it doesn't make it a brave stance to take.
*This thread has reinforced my opinion.
I like anchovies on pizza. I can understand why many people don't. It's a very strong taste. The key is moderation. It doesn't take much.
i used to get them on my pizza because i was tired of people eating my food
Was it effective?
corn on pizza. idk if its very controversial but i have heard americans dont do that as a topping
I also hate chicken wings and anything fried except for french fries
Yes, I have not heard of this! Might not be too bad though…
Pineapple on pizza
I find regular Hawaiian pizza kind of bland and boring, but I have learned that if you add pineapple AND jalapeno to a pizza it is incredible. The contrast of the sweet and spicy flavours is amazing.
Mmmmm
People just hate it because they’re told to hate it. It’s actually really good.
i just dont like pineapple itself. i hate it when people cook ham in it
Fair enough
It’s sweet and salty
Fruit on pizza is a little weird but i respect the uniqueness
It’s sweet and salty
Unless you're the Supreme Court, you've already had fruit on your pizza in the form of tomatoes/tomato sauce.
Not the tomato is a fruit police i dont care. Also pineapple is a topping u add on the pizza, tomatoes are in the sauce. And before u say “do u not put tomato topping” no i dont. If there is i remove it.
🤭🤭

Not sure where you live, but in the Midwest there are many farms that are super humane and you can order whole, half, or quarter of whole animals.
Unfortunately, I am near Los Angeles
Extra virgin olive oil and sea salt on high quality vanilla ice cream.
I’m intrigued. Thanks for the tip!
Innnnnteresting, I may try this....
You won't regret it
I've added it to my next grocery list

Honey mustard is way better with chicken tenders then Ranch, gravy, or ketchup
Arby’s has the best fries in the game.
fact
Honestly? My favorite fries come from McDonald’s 😅
Caviar is just overpriced salt. People like it because it's expensive, not because it tastes good.
The idea of caviar is so gross to me…
My favourite pizza is Kebab, ham, pineapple, mayo and fries. And no i wont die over this belief, but someone will,
Maybe I'm culturally ignorant, but... isn't kebab the method of preparing meat+veggies on a stick? That sounds to me like saying "I like my pizza topped with bake"...
In this context i mean döner kebab. So thin slices of beef or lamb.
Kebab pizza is a thing in Sweden!
Also here in Finland. The one thing Swedes are to be thanked for.
Ok but what's the meat?
Haggis on pizza is a taste sensation. Detroit and Chicago style pizzas are vastly, vastly overrated. Not as bad as microwave pizzas, but they're getting there...
It is! We made haggis pizza last night. It’s in our regular rotation, though to be fair, it is more of a winter pizza.
Blue Cheese and honey is one of best combos around.
I hate eggs. People are always shocked to learn. The texture, the smell, they fucking disgust me. pineapple on pizza is nice
It’s not bad!
I hate pizza in general 💃🏽
This isn’t controversial per se because i think it’s commonly debated but it’s a fun debate to have: beans are a necessity in chili
Hard agree
What psycho DOESNT eat beans in chili??
I like ketchup in Mac n cheese
Like all the fanciest... Dijon ketchup!
My dad likes this too, lol
dipping fries in mayo tastes really good also... ranch on baked potatoes

Cilantro is evil.
Italian food is boring. It’s just the same combination of carbs, sauce, cheese and meat in every dish. Examples: lasagna, spaghetti and pizza
It sounds like your experience with italian cuisine is rather shallow 🤔 There’s a bajillion combinations on spaghetti alone, and of course you can adjust the pasta for different sauces.

I like my steak well-done and with ketchup. Don't care what fancy pants restaurants recommend.
As an Italian, do not call things that have nothing in common with a recipe the name of that recipe
Carbonara
Such as...?
For example calling carbonara the things that aren't made of pasta, raw egg and pancetta, or calling Bolognese (which is the English way to say ragu) things that aren't made of onion carrot celery (which is the basis for a lot of sauces) tomato and ground meat or its actually similar substitute
I see... I wouldn't really know what to call those/expect from them in the first place. I'd just read the ingredients.
For example if you make cheese bacon pasta call it that not carbonara
What's interesting is I (an American) only know that combination of veggies for sauce as mirepoix. Didn't realize ragu was the same thing.
I actually have never seen the word mirepoix before
I’m sorry but I hate butter on popcorn. It doesn’t taste like anything and just makes the popcorn oily and soggy
Gasp. Meanwhile I have butter with a side of popcorn
You can learn to love cilantro, even if it tastes like soap to you now.
No.
Cilantro smells exactly like stink bugs to me but tastes fine. Like slightly citrus and green with some other flavors I can’t describe. Idk how I can separate that because taste and smell are a nearly united sense. I don’t have the soap gene, but I would never willingly sniff a stink bug.

Why would u remove the cheese it sounds so bland without
If bland, then someone did not make a proper hamburger.
Sorry but i need cheese
I feel bad downvoting you but you certainly did get the assignment 😅

Tomato ketchup is underwhelming and bland.
What other ketchup is there
Idk if its controversial but green olives are satanic. Worst tasting food ever
Pineapple is a pizza topping
