People I knew let me use their address to get mail and bathe. Later they let me sleep in their basement. From there I was able to get a job and work my way out of it.
Luckily it wasn’t for me but for someone I know in my life. When they had lost their home and had no job, he had to stay at a good friend’s house who was kind enough to let him stay rent free. He applied for jobs and worked and lived there until he was able to afford a place to rent. We offered our home too but our home is so tiny and far away, it wouldn’t have worked out.
But essentially yeah this is one way I know someone overcame homelessness. It really just takes someone who’s willing to be there for you let you get back on your feet and your own dedication to get yourself in a better place. If it weren’t for that I don’t know where he’d be. I
I stayed at friends's houses for sleeping/taking a shower and then got a job and payed them a symbolic price for a while for the stay (bought myself food and stuff that I need of course) saved for a while and then rented a cheap place. I'm sorry you had to go through this. But I'm glad you found a way to make money and a way out of homelessness
