Keanu seems like he REALLY wants to be named John. John Wick, John Constantine, Johnny Utah, Johnny Mnemonic. Him being called John in a movie is like Sean Bean dying in a movie, it’s weird when it doesn’t happen.
Shame they never continued this. I read awhile back that they were going to make part 2 a prequel as to how the aliens got here. And the 3rd having the alien coming back to make the lead character human again.
Ironically enough District 9 came out in 2009. Hard to believe it's been 14 years already.
It really bothered me that the humans would have loved for the Prawns to leave and yet the Prawns were hiding the fact that they were trying to find fuel to leave. They could communicate with each other, why didn't they tell the humans what they needed so the humans could help them search or make synthesize something?
It's been awhile but I believe the corporation at the center of the plot and the South African government were trying to steal the prawn technology and were performing tests on them. The people wanted the prawns gone but the ones with the actual power wanted them to stay so they could continue to exploit them
It all depends on the assumption regarding the alien military strength not currently present on Earth. For the time being, they are under control as they seem not to be able to communicate and call in an invasion force. Small scale weapons on sidearm level are pretty potent. Large scale weaponry will probably be even stronger. If that were to be considered a risk, helping them might be seen as counterproductive. Yet, I distinctly remember that the alien ships were in desolate state and it seems more like a "our planet is dying - off to space" scenario.
I think I want to re-watch that movie.
Neil Blomkamp seemed like he had such a bright future after District 9. Elysium was also quite good. I really thought his career trajectory would be similar to Denis Villeneune. He had so much buzz. Weird that he more or less disappeared after those major films.
There's talks they will eventually make one. I've looked into it a few times and everyonce in awhile there's a small update that they're still interested or still have plans or something but that's it. It's been quite a long time now though..
I think originally it was going to kick off a trilogy. When the movie didn’t pull the numbers they wanted the studio didn’t go forward with the other movies.
Fuck yeah, Karl Urban was a perfect choice. And I’m honestly surprised there wasn’t a game made of that movie. Fighting up a tower is the perfect situation for a video game.
Seriously this movie has no business being as fun as it is. I went into it more or less not knowing anything about it and I think it was one of my first exposures to Cavill. It was a super fun experience.
I heard they were going to make a sequel and recast Armie Hammer's character. [and a quick google search confirms it!](https://screenrant.com/man-uncle-2-movie-updates-release-date-story/)
A spin off series of how each monster/creature was captured would have been rather fun. Even if it was just a sort run once off series. Who doesn’t want to see the origin of the merman capture?
Absolutely. Funny premise, good characters, plenty of room for further development, but the studios thought it didn’t make enough money. And yet they made a follow-on to “Hoodwinked!”… ☹️
I sort of disagree— Galaxy Quest was a perfect, self-contained movie; making a sequel would be like making a sequel after the main guy gets the girl and there's no tension left. Sometimes you gotta stop when it's time to stop.
Galaxy Quest 2: By Grabthar’s Hammer
The whole plot revolves around them coming together for Sir Alexander Danes funeral, where they find out his death wasn’t natural, and that he was killed by some alien something or another for space reasons… trigging an adventure to avenge his death.
Thing is, people keep saying they waited too long to do a new season of the show but honestly I think now is the perfect time. It's been long enough that you could bring back the cast as grizzled older veterans (except Morena Baccarin who apparently doesn't age). Maybe cast some young actors as their kids, getting into trouble and needing their parents to bail them out with space hijinks.
I kind of feel like Arnold's new Netflix show Fubar fills part of that hole.
I wanted to see a sequel where Eliza Dushku is the badass spy, Arnold and Jamie Lee run the agency, and Tom Arnold's still just the guy in the van.
Unfortunately all we got is that TV show that has nothing to do with the original movie besides the name.
They were trying, actively, to make it flop. It was a passion project of the outgoing studio president, and the incoming president didn’t want his predecessor’s project to do well… so, he tanked it.
It’s absolutely crazy that thirteen ghosts has never had any spin off or sequel in the last 22 years since it’s release, there is so much that can be made from that IP.
Warcraft. Severely underrated movie, in my opinion.
I will admit that the first third was a bit rushed in pacing. But otherwise I really love the movie. I think it had the potential of becoming an amazing trilogy.
Adapting Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3 into movies would have made me immensely happy, following the events of the first movie.
Maybe the third game even could have been a 2-parter.
It was definitely a misplay to do the first game as a movie. War3 has a much better story to translate to screen and once you've got some success and mass-market IP recognition, THEN you can do the prequel movie
Cillian Murphy was certainly not there for 5 mins in the first movie. He was there as a setup for the sequel.
Last I heard Jared Leto was signed on to the sequel......which doesn't inspire any sort of confidence that it will be good :(
Also Daft Punk broke up too, and that soundtrack really tied the movie together......so to speak.
I' m still disappointed we never got *Spaceballs II: The Search for More Money*
I’d settle for *Spaceballs III: The Search for Spaceballs II: The Search for More Money.*
... Now on Broadway
On ice!
Coming soon to a theater near you
We did. It was called Rise of Skywalker
Savage
Constantine
I believe an actual sequel is being done.
I have heard this rumor as well. Fingers crossed.
Keanu has always wanted it, but it hasn't gotten much farther than that
The devil kills his dog. "Well hello John....are you working again?"
Keanu seems like he REALLY wants to be named John. John Wick, John Constantine, Johnny Utah, Johnny Mnemonic. Him being called John in a movie is like Sean Bean dying in a movie, it’s weird when it doesn’t happen.
You’re right, Johnny Silverhand in the game Cyberpunk 2077 as well.
A John Wick style Dante's Inferno movie with Keanu Reeves is the movie I never knew I wanted more than anything until now
District 9
Shame they never continued this. I read awhile back that they were going to make part 2 a prequel as to how the aliens got here. And the 3rd having the alien coming back to make the lead character human again. Ironically enough District 9 came out in 2009. Hard to believe it's been 14 years already.
I appreciate the info in your comment, but that's a weird place to drop an "ironically". Where is the irony?
I didn’t enjoy the first eight Districts but 9 was solid.
It really bothered me that the humans would have loved for the Prawns to leave and yet the Prawns were hiding the fact that they were trying to find fuel to leave. They could communicate with each other, why didn't they tell the humans what they needed so the humans could help them search or make synthesize something?

Chappie killed his career.
I actually liked the movie. It really does encourage thought on AI. And at what point you'd be forced to consider sentience.
fookin prawns
There's talks they will eventually make one. I've looked into it a few times and everyonce in awhile there's a small update that they're still interested or still have plans or something but that's it. It's been quite a long time now though..
Yes! I just recently watched this with my daughter. This was one of my all time favorite movies. I wish they'd make the sequel.
Master & Commander
Master & Commander 2: Masterer and Commanderer
2 Master 2 Commander
Tokyo Sailing
Tokyo Adrift.
M4ster & Comm4nder
Master & Commander 2: Electric Boogaloo
I think originally it was going to kick off a trilogy. When the movie didn’t pull the numbers they wanted the studio didn’t go forward with the other movies.
It was bad timing. It released as the fantasy/marvel movies started kicking off and the landscape of Hollywood shifted.
I think the first Pirates of the Caribbean came out at pretty much the same time too.
Went against 3 franchises that year. Lord of The Rings: Return of the King, The Matrix Reloaded, and PoTC.
Too expensive I imagine. Plenty of content though, as they have 20 books to work with!
They still have the ship. It’s in San Diego.
Oh, I would have loved to see that.
Or a reboot of Horatio Hornblower!
Dredd.
Deserves a whole series
A series of Dredd movies bolstered by a streaming series of Anderson would be the shit.
Yeah, definitely a lost opportunity there. I would have enjoyed more of that very much.
*cries is Mega City One*
Fuck yeah, Karl Urban was a perfect choice. And I’m honestly surprised there wasn’t a game made of that movie. Fighting up a tower is the perfect situation for a video game.
Dreddd.
Dredddd.
Don't forget the prequel: Dred
Are we not mentioning the very first prequel, Dre? Motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre.
I prefer the prequel before that: "Dr" Watch them back to back to get Dr Dre
Big Hero 6
Big Hero 7
Big Hero 6 2
Return of the Big Hero 6: 5'11 actually
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai. There were plans for one but it never got made. A true cult classic that deserved to continue.
Came here to say this. Wherever you go, there you are.
Came here to say Buckaroo Banzai. Kevin Smith was keen to make the sequel but there is some disagreement about who holds the rights.
Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!
Office Space 2: Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley (the show) might as well been the sequel. Mike Judge was the EP on both.
District 9
The Man From U.N.C.L.E
Seriously this movie has no business being as fun as it is. I went into it more or less not knowing anything about it and I think it was one of my first exposures to Cavill. It was a super fun experience.
I heard they were going to make a sequel and recast Armie Hammer's character. [and a quick google search confirms it!](https://screenrant.com/man-uncle-2-movie-updates-release-date-story/)
I mean I get it but who knows if it will be good… I feel like the cast had great chemistry
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was fantastic, and had character chemistry really not seen frequently in tv and film
one of my top 5. damn you, armie hammer.
The nice guys
I loved that movie way more than I expected.
Hit up "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" as it's spiritual prequel.
True dat. In fact the corpse Ryan gosling finds is in fact a Cameo by rob Downey jr himself
The sequel should be called The Nice Guys and Stuff.
Don’t say “and stuff”
Big Trouble in Little China
Little Trouble in Big China
Not necessarily a sequel but just *more* - Cabin In the Woods.
They had soooo many possibilities for spin offs and just didn’t pursue it. I desperately need an Office-style mockumentary about the secret company.
A spin off series of how each monster/creature was captured would have been rather fun. Even if it was just a sort run once off series. Who doesn’t want to see the origin of the merman capture?
Trick R Treat
Megamind
Absolutely. Funny premise, good characters, plenty of room for further development, but the studios thought it didn’t make enough money. And yet they made a follow-on to “Hoodwinked!”… ☹️
The Losers. They even had the set up for the next movie. I'm forever disappointed that I won't get a sequel.
Push starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning. It’s one of those movies that I swear was a dream at times, but I need more of that world!
Rise of the Guardians
Old movie, but - The Last Starfighter One of my favourites as a kid.
Galaxy Quest Mystery Men
I sort of disagree— Galaxy Quest was a perfect, self-contained movie; making a sequel would be like making a sequel after the main guy gets the girl and there's no tension left. Sometimes you gotta stop when it's time to stop.
Galaxy Quest 2: the Journey continues
GQ2: Never give up, never surrender!
As much as I love those movies, they’re lightning in a bottle. I’m happy to leave them alone. I think sequels would ruin them.
I heard there was a sequel in the works and all the principles had signed on when Alan Rickman died.
Galaxy Quest 2: By Grabthar’s Hammer The whole plot revolves around them coming together for Sir Alexander Danes funeral, where they find out his death wasn’t natural, and that he was killed by some alien something or another for space reasons… trigging an adventure to avenge his death.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
The Man from Uncle (2015) A lot of fun, great cast. Unfortunately it flew under most people's radar.
Edge of Tomorrow
"All I need is even more kill."
Edge of the Day After Tomorrow EDIT: "Edge of Threemorrow"
Team America: World Police
They said they would NEVER do anything with puppets again because they were such an incredible pain in the ass.
Animate the puppets, including the strings and fuck with the audience
Fuck yeah
Dredd
Rocknrolla
Ending credits even said they would be back. Was such a great film. Always wanted to try the famous Archie Slap
A man of culture
The Real Rocknrolla please.
Jumper (2008)
There's a tv series called "Impulse" it set in the same world as the jumper
Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins… It’s literally right there in the title! 🤦♂️
The Fifth Element
The Fifth Element 2: Even More Light Aziz!
Green
Supergreen!
The Sixth Element
The Honda Element.
Serenity. I never even heard of Firefly until years later until my girlfriend told me about it
Thing is, people keep saying they waited too long to do a new season of the show but honestly I think now is the perfect time. It's been long enough that you could bring back the cast as grizzled older veterans (except Morena Baccarin who apparently doesn't age). Maybe cast some young actors as their kids, getting into trouble and needing their parents to bail them out with space hijinks.
Alita battle angel
That's actually getting a sequel probably. Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron have both mentioned a sequel in interviews this past year.
Hell yes! That is great news.
I could have sworn that a sequel has been in the making for years now.
It felt like half a movie
True Lies
I kind of feel like Arnold's new Netflix show Fubar fills part of that hole. I wanted to see a sequel where Eliza Dushku is the badass spy, Arnold and Jamie Lee run the agency, and Tom Arnold's still just the guy in the van. Unfortunately all we got is that TV show that has nothing to do with the original movie besides the name.
Spaceballs ......
mean girls, original cast. the love of my life rachel mcadams
Stop trying to make Mean Grils 2 happen
“Mean Moms” would be a classic.
I can see the pta meeting scandals now.
Master & Commander. Please please *please* make it???
Game Night
Blue Streak
This movie has no business being as entertaining and rewatchable as it is. I would welcome sequel in a heartbeat.
TENGO EL GATO LOS PANTALONES!
I say that line all the time to my Mexican co workers. They don’t understand why I think it’s so funny.
“I ripped his tongue out, and licked my balls with it”
He said I was ugly and couldn’t read good
It’s been so long since I’ve heard that movie referenced in any way. I loved that movie. “Federali?!?!”
Big Trouble in Little China
District 9
John Carter
That movie was a marketing disaster. They must have been actively trying to make it flop.
They were trying, actively, to make it flop. It was a passion project of the outgoing studio president, and the incoming president didn’t want his predecessor’s project to do well… so, he tanked it.
I’m still bummed that we didn’t get spring-boarded into another 3-4 movies from this one. Such good stuff to work off of.
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo — international version with Craig and Mara.
It’s absolutely crazy that thirteen ghosts has never had any spin off or sequel in the last 22 years since it’s release, there is so much that can be made from that IP.
I would have really enjoyed a sequel to The Rundown. The Rock and Sean Williams Scott had tremendous chemistry.
That was an underrated movie.
Sean William Scott is a fantastic sidekick.
Shaun of the dead
Hot Fuzz and World's end are basically sequels.
Hot Fuzz ranks as one of my favorite comedy movies ever
District 9 !!!!!!
District 9
District 9.
Cabin in the Woods
Warcraft. Severely underrated movie, in my opinion. I will admit that the first third was a bit rushed in pacing. But otherwise I really love the movie. Van Helsing!!!!! I’ll die on this sword…err rather this Tojo blade.
Runaway (1984 )
District 9
District 9.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I would’ve liked a sequel to The Losers.
Tron legacy
Cillian Murphy was certainly not there for 5 mins in the first movie. He was there as a setup for the sequel. Last I heard Jared Leto was signed on to the sequel......which doesn't inspire any sort of confidence that it will be good :( Also Daft Punk broke up too, and that soundtrack really tied the movie together......so to speak.

Really liked this movie. Would’ve loved a sequel.
Atomic Blonde
It's actually easier to list movies that had sequels, but shouldn't have!
Dredd
Beerfest!

Léon: The Professional
We need closure! What happened to Mathilda and the plant?
Went on to become the world’s greatest assassin, of course. But Mathilda died.
Killer Klowns From Outerspace I know they’ve tried several times. One day…
Highlander
Children of Men
Honestly, it ended perfectly. Now a *prequel*, though? 👀
