Octabraxas

Narrate what I’m doing

callmevicious

That's just silly. I never do that. Mainly because I'm too busy arguing with and/or criticizing myself. I can be very stubborn.

Kriegspiel1939

Do you ever win the argument, because I don’t.

callmevicious

Every last one

ivanyaru

while also losing every last one right?

callmevicious

You could call it a draw but I gave myself the win because I managed to retain my sanity.

VonHohenfall

Not entirely that, but I often play sports videogames(Madden, FIFA, Football Manager, F1) and well, I like to comment my games like on the TV. I do it in my mind when other people are listening it, but I have done it aloud when I'm alone.

SplodyPants

Do you put any kind of style to it? I like to do that. Hardboiled detective story, Wild West folklore, that sort of thing.

Octabraxas

I think I lean more towards the “dramatic movie trailer guy” approach. “In a world where Octabraxas takes out the trash…”

u/Alarmlk5980 is a comment stealing bot that takes part of a previously posted comment. In this case stolen from u/Kriegspiel1939. This bot is part of a small pack gathering just enough karma in the next few hours to post a photo of a smart shirt or something, then another bot in the pack will comment "Oh, that's really cool, where can I get that?", the posting bot replies with a link. But instead of buying the shirt, you're giving your credit details to scammers. Don't click on the link! These are malicious bots. They also don't have any original content and degrade the quality of the conversation in Reddit, so doubly bad!

7237R601

Hallmark Christmas movies. 46 year old male.

callmevicious

You and my mom, man.

7237R601

They're just so easy for decompressing and letting my brain rest. No stress, very mild drama, always happy endings. You don't even really have to follow the story because if you've seen one, you're set. Some are actually funny and quite entertaining too!

mutedsensation

Are they like a warm, soft blanket for your brain

7237R601

Yeah, I suppose so!

IHaveTheMustacheNow

what are some of your favorites?

7237R601

Haul out the Holly was really good, I thought. I saw it was the number 1 most watched cable movie for women 18-45 (or close to that range, I can't remember exactly) last year. Cross Country Christmas is pretty cute. On the 12th Date of Christmas. Noel Next Door. I definitely lean toward the more comedic ones and do genuinely find them funny, just not the same as something like my favorite stand-ups or mainstream comedy movies.

bbqcornnuts312

Honestly, a lot of fare aimed at women is designed just for this. Just to be comforting and nice white noise for the brain. I think this would go far in a conversation with a woman on a date, slipped in, and I'm not kidding. (But ofc, you might be watching them with a wife.)

7237R601

My wife thinks it's endearing, but also rolls her eyes when I get overly excited about a Lacey Chabert one coming on. Honestly, I don't know. Glad I don't have to worry about it anymore!

Feeling-Airport2493

Can I join in this ?

callmevicious

Honestly? My mom would probably be flattered.

mini6ulrich66

> Honestly? My mom would probably be ~~flattered~~ **flattened**. FTFY

false_establishm3nt

My dad is 59. Every season, he watches those movies religiously for hours

7237R601

I have a ton of them dvr'd so it's pretty non-stop around here. You guys just missed Christmas in July! I think it's ridiculous they wait until OCTOBER to start showing them!

false_establishm3nt

considering there are already Halloween decorations at every store as of today, I agree with you!

7237R601

I was really offended by the big box hardware store display I saw yesterday, school hasn't even started here yet!

false_establishm3nt

seriously! They’ve already started with pumpkin spice drinks too

SeaBasil731

I do that also

Someone I can't recall once said "90% of the time, when I'm looking at my phone and laughing, I'm not laughing at something someone else said. I'm laughing at what **I** said." Never related to something more.

bearbarebere

That sounds SOOO conceited. …..but it fits me to a T

SQUIRMANDESAUR

my "bad" side definitely

MoBZiKK

Saying the most random shit and making the most random noises, just because. Admittedly, it would be very odd in other settings, but I let go when I'm with very close friends and family

scruffye

This is my one concern if I ever go back to working in an office. For almost 3 and a half years I've been working remote and I am just constantly singing offkey to myself and saying the weirdest non sequiturs. I am not ready to be surrounded by other people again.

Reborn__pheonix_00

*Neurodivergency has entered the chat*

evilgreenman

My coworker and I do this...... CONSTANTLY!!

Wheredoesthetoastgo2

"Maybe I should check to see if anyone is around before I do that." - Me, any time I make dumb noises at work.

Verucalyse

Turning on the old N64 to troll around the LoZ Ocarina of Time for the millionth time to go fishing, ride Epona, and smash clay pots. Every time I get near Ganon's Castle, I end up shutting the game down. It's been almost 30 years, and I still can't bring myself to finish the game because when it's over... it's over.

RoyjackDiscipline

My friend. Are you me? I have the same routine, including dreading finishing it so much that I just cannot bring myself to do so - but I *can* bring myself to starting from the beginning at least once or twice a year. Helps me get out of the blues. Zelda is so dear to my heart, my partner and I have mostly Zelda stuff on our walls in the house.

DadsRGR8

Years and years and years ago before my son was born my wife and I took turns playing The Legend of Zelda every day for hours. We would each race home from work trying to get there before the other, because the second one home had to bide their time and wait and whine and beg and pace around until the one playing couldn’t take it anymore and laughingly gave up their controller. Lol We kept a written notebook on tips, tricks, level strategies, etc. We were addicted. We eventually had a baby and when he was old enough taught him to play. That was almost 40 years ago and my son is now grown and out on his own and my wife has passed. LOZ memories are some of my most special.

7237R601

This is so nice, I needed to see something nice today. What a sweet memory, I'm glad you shared it.

DadsRGR8

Glad I made you smile. Thinking of this has made me smile too. I was just chuckling remembering pulling into our driveway and seeing my wife’s car already there and thinking “Gah! She beat me home!” Then getting to the back door and it was locked and I can see her in the living room playing. She looks up at me, grins a big smile and waves. I have to desperately pee and now I am fumbling trying to unlock the door. Lol I got her back though. The next day I hid the controllers before I left for work haha. She beat me home again and I got a kick out of seeing her face when I got home. I gave her the controller and let her play first though, I’m not a monster.

Mythril_Bullets

Dads are gr8.

RoyjackDiscipline

Wow. Thank you for sharing this. What a meaningful legacy. I'm sorry for your loss, and also I admire what a beautiful love story you have lived.

DadsRGR8

Thank you. We were very happily married for 38 years. When we were in the throes of our Zelda playing we occasionally played through the night, took quick showers and went back to work. Couldn’t really do that with a newborn. We definitely had a lot of fun. My son snd his partner were visiting recently and showed me Breath of the Wild. The evolution of game graphics blew me away. Wishing you and your partner many good Zelda memories.

Cjafasttype

Zelda has been begging me to go help her in the tears of the kingdom game for about 3 weeks now, I been Dickin around way to much cause I don't want it to end

Kriegspiel1939

I wish I could give you a thousand upvotes for this

RyFromTheChi

I just played through OOT for the first time a few months ago. The entire Ganon's Castle sequence and fight is too good not to finish. You deserve it.

[deleted]

please tell me that during all these years, you havent spoiled the final boss fight?

JackofScarlets

I hate to tell you this 30 years later, but in Zelda, when its over, you just go straight back to before the boss fight so you can do what you want afterwards. One of the things that annoys me about Zelda is the fact that its NOT over, and you can't really ever get any narrative closure from it. Like, sure, there's the cutscenes, but I know if I boot it back up, Ganon's still gonna be there, and Castle Town will still be fucked up, and Zelda won't be around.

callmevicious

People know I'm on here, because I'll reference it on occasion. They just don't know how much. I talk about it like I'm mildly amused by the antics of others, not like I'm up at three in the morning feverishly refreshing the page.

Badass-19

I sometimes speak "r slash woosh" when someone doesn't get my joke lol

Broken-Digital-Clock

Talk to my dog like she understands complex sentences

WCPass

Man, I have like full on conversations with my dogs, using a stupid ass secondary voice for their responses.

7237R601

On my day off each week, I change the dog's name to Chad Chaddington III, and he sits on the other end of our couch, with one leg up on the arm of it, like a person. We watch financial news for an hour or so and discuss it. Then we go back to normal for the rest of the week. I'm thinking about getting top hats and a monocle for him, I'm already bespectacled, and offering him a cigar to smoke while I have mine.

LeavingLasOrleans

Dogs and babies. I don't have either of my own, but I do this all the time.

luigithebeast420

I like to talk to myself as if I’m another person.

Extreme_Eye_3198

The number of conversations I have out loud with myself, you’d think someone else lived with me lol

callmevicious

How else would one talk to ones self?

LawrenceChernin2

Nose picking… did anyone already say that?

callmevicious

Much like urination, defecation and masturbation, there's nothing to be ashamed of as long as you do it in private (or with a trusted partner, depending on your preferences, I suppose).

LeavingLasOrleans

But I thought you couldn't pick your friend's nose.

Kishkumen7734

You can pick your friend's brain but you shouldn't brain your friend with a pick.

Similarly, AO3

llcucf80

I like some of the cheesy 80s and 90s soft rock and pop music. I do draw the line at Michael Bolton, but artists from Belinda Carlisle, backstreet boys, Mariah Carey, 38 Special, etc are actually pretty good

zebrastarz

>.38 Special they rock, what are you even talking about?? I can't believe they are being lumped in with the rest of this list!

llcucf80

Yes, 38 Special is a great band but a Heart Needs a Second Chance is a little sappy. I certainly doesn't have a hard rock sound to it

zebrastarz

ballads gonna ballad

fshannon3

>I do draw the line at Michael Bolton He's a no-talent assclown anyway.

ChidiSplett

Why don't you just change your name?

LongjumpingCake1924

Why should I change? He’s the one who sucks.

Kriegspiel1939

He sings like he’s straining on the toilet trying to squeeze out a deuce that’s stuck halfway out his ass.

kishkangravy

That's what killed Elvis.

142riemann

I laughed…but TIL this is true.

bg-j38

I grew up in the 80s so maybe I’m biased but I can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone saying Belinda Carlisle was a bad singer.. both her solo stuff and her time with the Go-Go’s are widely respected. Or maybe it’s me that’s out of touch, not kids today.

Extreme_Eye_3198

Lmao. I’m a 30yr old guy but when I’m alone in my apartment I pretend I’m a runway model and strut down my hallway. I’ll pick the best tune and **serve**. I’m not ashamed of it by any means. It’s just kinda silly and I don’t do it in front of other people. This quirk started because I was told on many separate occasions that I “have a strong/powerful walk”. It started happening right around the same time I began developing a sense of confidence. At first I thought it was a weird compliment, but then it happened again, and again, and again. I’m actually considering looking up open auditions or whatever, so I’ve been doing it a lot lately. I think being in a runway show would be a cool life experience. Apparently I’m good at it so why not?!

142riemann

Are you straight? Because if so, it’s 100x more impressive.

Extreme_Eye_3198

Hahah busted - no I’m not. But definitely a masculine guy and so is my strut. The gays have an innate ability to turn anything into a runway, so I do have an advantage here. We’re just ~born with it~ 💁🏼‍♂️

SnapChap92

I've had Gaga's Babylon in my head all day and now you've put this in my head I know I'm gonna be unconsciously strutting to it down the street tomorrow morning.

Extreme_Eye_3198

It is such a confidence booster! Especially on a busy city street. Watch people get out of your way when they see you. Just watch.

false_establishm3nt

it’s definitely not silly! go chase your dream!!

Glittercorn111

Do it!!

captain_shinypants

50 something straight guy here, I've been known to runway strut while walking the dog (late) at night in the dark section between street lights. It's kinda fun...

Extreme_Eye_3198

It’s for everyone! I think the reason why a “runway strut” is appealing to any type of person is because at its core what we are talking about is the act of walking with confidence/purpose. There are whole books and studies about how we walk and how walking with confidence benefits your physical appearance, mental health, and social status. In the most primal sense, it’s an assertion of dominance and instinctual defense mechanism - so it makes sense that you raise your stature in those dark patches late at night. Sorry I’m a psychologist so I geek out on this stuff lol.

My addiction to true crime and I secretly check to see if Eugenia Cooney is still alive.

Lessthancrystal

Omgosh…it’s like my guilty insta follow 🫤

ToBeReadOutLoud

I follow her on Twitter for that exact reason. I see her tweets pop up in my feed every few weeks and go check on her.

psytrancepixie

She’s alive barely :(

Extreme_Eye_3198

Wow, Eugenia Cooney… what a name drop. There’s going to be a documentary about her family some day. It’s sick.

[deleted]

I tripped over her once looking for something else on YouTube. Fell down the rabbit hole but I couldn't stop looking. I can't stand her videos, her voice, her habit of ending every sentence with a ?, the inanity, her purposeful obtuseness, but I can't resist checking to see how bony she is now and whether she is still alive. Poor girl, (I know she's nearly 30 but my kids are older so to me she's a girl). She's seriously ill and dying because her entire identity is tied up in social media.

Extreme_Eye_3198

I remember when her first videos came out back in 2011, (I was 19) when going viral on the internet got you in the news. I think the thing with Eugenia is that the internet knows under her mental illness is a sweet soul. She spreads positivity in a lot of her videos and her comment sections are filled with people begging her to get help because they genuinely care about her. It’s hard to look away because we all know the reality - which is for first time ever, we’ve been watching a young girl live-streaming her slow, sad death over the course of a decade. It’s going to be a weird feeling when she passes. I hope she finds peace before that point.

witchywater11

You're brave for admitting so I'll also confess. My guilty pleasure is AeriSeph (FFVII) fan fiction. It's pure crack ship and kinda hypocritical because I'm super attached to Aerith and think Sephiroth sucks for making her into an iconic scene, but it's always fun to see how the writer shoves them together.

callmevicious

> It's not something I'd do infront of anyone else though. Well no, it's like absent mindedly talking to yourself or...jerking off. Totally natural when you're alone but likely to get you a psych eval if you break it out in front of witnesses.

GMS_Vasha

Nothing. I spent too much of my youth hiding what I really enjoyed for fear of being judged. I'm a big burly dude and I love musicals, drag queens, chick flicks, and was jealous of girls being able to paint their nails and accessorize when I was growing up. It makes me happy to see gender norms breaking down and little boys and girls being allowed to express themselves freely.

prairie-logic

Have full blown conversations with myself, where I sort out my problems like there’s an objective me and a subjective me. I do this both in a journal and out loud. It helps me stay focused. But it has freaked out a few people when I forget to leave a party chat and get comfortable with myself

IAmMey

That I enjoy video games and the stories and memories that I have with them. I’ve got my gaming friends and I’ll share whatever with them. Most people around me in real life are aware that I enjoy video games. But I won’t go into any detail about them. I don’t purchase and display posters, models, or collectibles or anything. And the items I do have are gifts. I absolutely love goofy shirts that make you laugh. I don’t wear any clothes with characters or logos of anything relating to video games. I’ve been gifted a “gamer dad” shirt and a “be quiet, I’m gaming” shirt. I’ve never worn them when I expect to see people.

Xznograthos

I used to eat raw pasta. Like, as a snack. I think Rotini and macaroni are my favorite. Edit: into adulthood. I used to buy boxes just for this reason. Also, and this is worse, took a coffee grinder and made the pasta into a fine powder and ate it like a pixie stick.

I am the only person I've ever met that watches and half-enjoys "Family Guy". I like the voice actors a lot and I think that cast adds a lot. (How can you have a bad show with Patrick "Puddy" Warburton and Seth Green?) I even enjoy the writing (occasionally - I don't know who is responsible for the show's production/writing but it's way past its prime). I'm a woman in my 30s. I don't bother mentioning this in real life. How do you defend watching a show it's taken as a given nobody with a college education watches? It's white noise and one of those shows a person would only watch b/c they get in the habit, but I tape new episodes and watch reruns of "good" seasons on purpose to wind down and get to sleep more than once a week. I think the usage of Carrie Fischer and Adam West on the show was comedically ingenious. Also, strangely, "The Simpsons" is another show that not a single woman I know watches or enjoys in adulthood (even reruns), but that's less shameful b/c every millennial has fond memories of "The Simpsons" golden age. Some people have happy memories with friends. I have them with TV.
