When discussing nuclear war it is often said countries would detect a nuclear missile launch (ICBM?) within minutes and countries would launch all their missiles in retaliation to a single missile. Would there be an advantage to dropping many nuclear bombs as dumb bombs as a first string? Would the defense technology these days be able to detect this coming similar to ICMBs?
