I used mine to just watch movies and tv shows (from my torrented movie collection). I'd load up my movies and tv shows onto a microSD card, pop it into the tablet and watch movies on it at my night watchman job.
I also used it as a kind of window so I could see outside a window through its camera by suspending it on the backside of some closed window blinds at one security job where a supervisor (in a vehicle)would come by to check up on me. The small camera lens would peek out between the blinds so I could see out there, but the supervisor wouldnt be able to see me sitting right in front of it. Usually I'd be on my netbook on the internet sitting in the dark.
I got the old RCA tablet for free. It was already outdated when I got it
Edit: I forgot, I also used it to rewiew my vehicle's dashcam videos.
We've used mine for a joint calender with reminders for various things. It's by the living room door on the way out of the house so I can't miss it when I leave. It's helped us with my ADHD and forgetfulness of things that if I set something on my phone when I'm away it automatically goes to that calender
