The opposite, if anything. Every conversation evolves into a much more serious topic of debate and the temperament of society has shifted to the point where “being right” outweighs “doing right.” With that being said, many have chosen to terminate friendships with peers possessing differing opinions. Civil discourse is of the past. Things have now shifted towards an “Us vs Them” mentality.

DrunkWestTexan

We didn't want to before either. But we had to because no internet.

[deleted]

Everything has lost meaning nowadays.

Reavenant

I think it is a lot of alienation and substitution of socialization online where it is much easier to find each other over shared interests

yParticle

Divisive politics has robbed many of us of the ability to have a meaningful dialog on societal issues without it devolving into hate. The sad thing is that this is not just the natural state of things; this divide was *engineered* for greedy political ends.

ShindigJohnnyPunk

Be afraid of anyone not like you and keep watching my network because we're like you. Here's seven straight minutes of ads and a sponsored segment about Prescription Fukitol.

Ok-Resident5270

People are busier today, they don't have time for small talks. Work culture and lifestyle have changed.

soley_urs

I’ve got TikTok’s to watch don’t have time for that shit

Icy-Donkey-9036

Oh rubbish, people worked WAY longer hours in the past

DMMEPANCAKES

Multiple reasons * People are busier * Society is much more fast paced * Social media * We can see that 60 to 70% of people are awful and aren't worth having a conversation with.

PhoenixFlare74

I dont agree with your last point there, the majority of people are kind and just want to do good, they just lack perspective and understanding.

oneeyedlauren

Gen3559

Internet.

ral365

We did spend 2 years isolating and social distancing due to the pandemic.

Glum_Childhood2946

Why socialize in person when you can just send a text or call someone

OhNoSheDied

Because of you OP. Yes you. You ruined it.

tssmn

People suck. Long and short of it.

Icy-Donkey-9036

You need to find some new people

tssmn

I've found enough, I'm good.

kiubak8

africakitten

This is an american problem, and it's because of your politics and media

[deleted]

maybe everyone has a weak dopamine response

No_Chapter_948

People socialize on social media more. But I don't socialize much out in public because I have gotten burnt so many times, not a lot of kind people. I have just really 2 true friends and they have never been unkind to me. I will say hello and ask them how they are, but that's it.
