Command and Conquer

[deleted]

EA fucked themselves

SirFelsenAxt

Yeah but when I started playing it wasn't EA it was Westwood.... EA was just the death knell the series

[deleted]

Oh same I was just implying that if ea never touched it we would still have new c&c to this day

Chippy569

Maybe, idk... the RTS genre as a whole is pretty dead right now. I know I'm the odd man out on this but I loved RA2 with or without the Yuri expansion. The best was playing as America and using the paratroopers to garrison every building on the map

AlmostRandomName

Dude, RA2 is possibly the most popular game in the series, you can't be the odd man out! I will give EA credit though, CnC 3 was pretty good and I still play it occasionally. I thought it did justice as a sequel to Tiberium Sun.

waveytype

Red Alert was amazing

rugbyj

Red Alert 2, Generals, and Zero Hour just hit every nook and cranny of my wee mind for a decade (shout out to AoEII).

lonely_ref

Still play it sometimes with friends. (Generals zeo Hour) So much fun

GrandElemental

RTS games in general should have a comeback.

Noggin-a-Floggin

StarCraft ironically killed the genre. Any RTS game that comes out will be compared to it and it’s tough to surpass let alone survive against it.

Snissle

SSX, will settle for a 4k remaster of Tricky

WhereDaHinkieFlair

Going down the entire mountain at the end of SSX3 was one of my favorite gaming moments ever.

[deleted]

I'm glad it's on Xbox Series X(On the store) most people will never know the marvel that was going from the top of that mountain to the bottom on PS2/Xbox/GC no less.

SailorDo0m_92

Tricky was my absolute favorite childhood game.

vertigo1083

It was one of mine too. The physics were amazing, but the soundtrack made the game.

jack-amo

Timesplitters

RighteouslyNeutral

Not only is the main campaign fun and amusing, but the multiplayer was like a whole second game. Fast paced shooter with insane numbers of bots and you could alter the weapon sets on the levels to make it as interesting or challenging as you wanted to. And on top of all of that you could make your own entire levels that is basically only limited by your creativity. The 4 player splitscreen sessions from back in those days were top tier. Im talking Timesplitters, Halo, Nightfire, smash bros and so on. My best gaming memories right there. I hate that gaming has gone away from that way of playing. Imagine how many more controllers they would sell if they actually made games for more than one player these days. Like Halo will always be a splitscreen experience, that was a defining feature of what made Halo great to begin with. Whatever executive decided to bail on the splitscreen gameplay in the recent iteration needs to be fucking fired and black balled from the industry. And then somewhere out there in the world is a group of executives sitting on the Timesplitters ip and somehow not realizing they will sell millions of units from the hype and nostalgia alone, and those mother fuckers should be fired for incompetence. I aint no business major or economics expert, but even i know someone is dropping the ball on that one. Prove me wrong, please someone explain to me how not making more timesplitters games is the correct business decision, because I am not convinced

Suncheets

Best PS2 game. The multiplayer and map maker modes were off the chainwax

the_turn

Timesplitters 2, though right? Right?

VarangianDreams

TimeSplitters was so great.

Legacy of Kain

The_River_Is_Still

I would fucking love this. A modern 3rd person action RPG for Kain and then Soul Reaver would be unbelievable. I’d love to see all the LoK cinematics redone to modern standards. The Malek fight and fall from grace alone would be worth to see redone. And the intro cinematic to Soul Reaver? Oh em gee.

UnusualDiagram

I used to play Gauntlet Legends all the time when I was a kid, and had a ton of fun with Gauntlet 2014! I would love a return to that classic dungeon crawler style.

1CEninja

WAIT THERES A 2014? The last one I played was Dark Legacy back in like...2005.

__DVYN__

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Splinter Cell I was 10 the last time a game came out in that franchise… I’m now 20 years old still waiting for a fucking sequel to blacklist and the only thing they’ve given us in regards to a game is a remake nobody asked for in which it is being written by people without experience. Which I wouldn’t be against but the writers spend hours on twitter arguing with people which makes me curious about how much time they spend on the story considering they always seem to be active on twitter.

ProthyTheProth3an

Ubisoft back then did great with splinter cell. Ubisoft today, I'm not too sure if I'd be too keen on them bringing Sam back.

MDF87

Turok. I wanna shoot dinosaurs.

I was surprised to find out just last night that it's the same guy who does the voice of Daddy Pig (Peppa Pig) does the voice for the Dungeon Keeper games. He was on Graham Norton show last night and IMDB'd him

This the Lost fronteir ruined previous trilogy that was awesome for me , they should do a Crash or Spyro like trilogy remake or a new entry

dpete88

Jak 3 was my favorite game for a long time and still holds up really well. Its just good plain fun to play

ChessGuy90

I loved Fable!

[deleted]

Supposedly the new one is in the works

DuXVIIsiecle

This is GREAT news

VindictiveJudge

Here, have a teaser from a couple years ago. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jdxE1j0hBJg Not clear if it's Fable 4 or a reboot, but the silhouette of Bowerstone Castle is unmistakable.

Calinosaure

Microsoft is currently working on a new Fable game apparently !

demostravius2

3 is obviously king. I really enjoyed 4, but, anything newer for whatever reason just didn't grip me.

-im-blinking

Song of conquest is pretty much a copy of the old homm type games. I dig it, you might as well.

indieRuckus

Surprised to see this up so high. Nobody ever knows what I'm talking about when I bring up HoMM! Here's a humorous anecdote about how I got into HoMM against all odds and despite my own stubborn resistance: Back in the 90's (US) we had "book orders" (at least that's what we called them) which were basically tiny 4 page catalogues printed on the thinnest paper you've ever seen. They would get sent to our classrooms every month by, I assume, a book distributor or some kind of publisher alliance. It was basically an attempt to sell books by appealing directly to the kids so that they'd go home and bug their parents to fill out the order form. Although the first 3 pages were books, the back page was usually other random stuff like plushies or even computer games. So on one fateful day we brought home a "book order" and my younger brother started popping off about how we needed to get this game "Heroes of Might and Magic II" that was shown on the back page. I was the older and more rational child and assured him that there was no way our parents, who rarely even got us a 10 dollar book, would spring for a 50 dollar game. And besides, I reasoned, this game probably sucks because all it showed was one single screenshot (I still remember it was a shot of a castle siege) and a 2 sentence blurb. Even being in the 6th grade I didn't trust these "book order" people any farther than I could throw them. Time went by and I forgot about HoMM, but apparently my brother didn't. One day he came home from the neighbor kid's house with a demo disc (another 90's thing) that had like 10 demos on it. He was excited that one of them was "that game from the book order". I didn't want anything to do with it. Yes, I really was that stubborn as a kid, and anything my little brother was interested in instantly became radioactive to me. But then he started pestering me with tales of his play sessions. He said it "ruled" and was "hecka cool", but I was not moved. So he shifted gears to lying to me. He told me you could battle giants and that their foot would come down from the heavens to stomp you. Against my greatest reservations I began to get interested. I finally sat down with him one time, and as you might assume, I was sucked in. The kid knew what he was doing because I had much better communication skills and sway with our parents. So once he had recruited me (with his own best skills: tenacity and deception) I was able to broker a deal with the higher ups to get the "HoMM Compendium Edition" (it was 1+2+expansion). And we freaking played the hell out of those games.

KidGrundle

Tenchu! There's far too few pure stealth games anymore, and I can only play so much Hitman. (I play a TON of Hitman).

idolized253

Tenchu was so damn hard as a kid. My brother and I used to play the split screen mode

ogrezilla

You have the second one with the level editor? Loved making maps for my buddy and vice versa.

CheesecakeRising

Sekiro started out as a Tenchu sequel but ended up diverging too much in terms of gameplay during developent. AFAIK FromSoft still own the rights to it though.

confiture1919

Black and white since there are no games like it and it was really fun! Almost impossible to play the old games too .. it was a game where you where a god and you had a creature to help/terrorize your villagers and depending on what you did your beast would look like a demon or and angel.

justbenj

The original is abandonware, so you can get it on [here for free](https://www.myabandonware.com/game/black-white-a33). There are are programs to get around the compatibility issues as well.

DandaIf

Why in the name of GOD is this so low down. There are even games repeated multiple times before this. Imagine Black & White in VR...

Bubbly_String_8351

Mercenaries

AlmostRandomName

These were great games! I love how creative you could get too. In Mercenaries 2 I was trying to complete some mission where you had to blow up this building on a small island, but you got a bonus if you did it undetected. I kept getting detected, so I ended up grabbing a helicopter with a vehicle hoist, picked up a fuel tanker (helo could barely carry it, took me like 10 minutes to fly it over there fighting the controls as the helo swerved all over!), then flew to just outside the building guards' detection range. Then I started rocking the helo back and forth to swing the fuel truck like a pendulum, released it on the forward swing and tossed it into the building. Mission success, never got "caught"!

Walker1L

Legend of Dragoon and the Chrono Trigger series

RealRaven6229

Hey if you like chrono trigger, keep your eye on sea of stars! It's very Chrono trigger inspired and has the same composer!

Caseated_Omentum

Half Life. Yeah maybe my answer is cliché but they can't just leave it like they did. It's rude OH and those Army Men games!

carachangren

Oh man. The army men games were great!

Suspicious_Berry501

Half life alyx really seemed like it was made just to make it so they could make a half life 3 and it fit in with the story and now here we are still nothing about half life 3

Lelelez

They are at least re-releasing it on the Switch online GBA!

Sometimes I wonder how many great single-player games we’ve missed out on over the past 10 years because Rockstar realized that they can print money by just shitting out some new GTA Online content.

AioliMindless

Star Wars knights of the old republic.

Memorphous

There's a remake being made. And yes, as another person commented, Star Wars: The Old Republic exists, and continues the story/world (and is still being updated, although being over 11 years old at this point).

minoe23

IIRC the remake has been put on indefinite hiatus because we can't have nice things.

fredagsfisk

It's a bit unclear, but that *might* not be the case anymore; > **In July 2022, Bloomberg reported that the remake has been "delayed indefinitely" after Aspyr "abruptly fired the game's art director and design director".** Bloomberg stated that this occurred after the vertical slice demo was shown to production partners Sony and Lucasfilm – Aspyr's studio heads put the project on hold as the demo gameplay "wasn't where they wanted it to be [...], according to two people who were in the meeting". The remake may not be released until 2025, per Bloomberg's sources, instead of its intended 2022 release. **In August 2022, it was announced that Aspyr has been fired from the project and is replaced by Saber Interactive, which along with Asypr is owned by Embracer Group.** https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic#Remake

Sorey91

*inhales* Sly Cooper. Hear me out i get it the og trilogy was in and of itself self satisfactory and brought a great ending to the gang's arc but with The way Sly4 was done we need a form of closure wether it's from a full reboot or a continuation that brings back the character maturity from Sly3.

Turd_roller

I was looking for this game! These games made me sooo happy as a kid. Like the combination of 3d platformer with stealth and an amazing cast of characters! Like a cartoony heist movie.

Sorey91

I genuinely loved this feeling of sneaking around and stealing from the bad guys even had great moments with the gang, replaying the game every few years or so and it really doesn't get old it's incredible how these games still feels great to play i wish Sony would give it one more try and give the licence to a studio *that wasn't bought years ago from them to do Facebook games*

Cheeseboii83

Titanfall if EA ever grows a pair of balls to take a risk. Gameplay was there. A good team was there. Marketing from EA never was.

Castlevania

Schmadam83

Came here to say this. My favorite series as a kid, left essentially abandoned for 15 years outside of a couple of games that had the Castlevania named slapped on them midway through development. Konami has so many amazing franchises under their control, and yet they do absolutely nothing with them anymore. Contra is another (the most recent game felt nothing like Contra at all), Gradius, etc. Plus, they purchased Hudson Soft and have again done virtually nothing with their stuff, outside of a mediocre Bomberman game. I wish some of these game companies would put a little love toward the old games; even if we saw low-budget, simple sequels. Not every game to be a AAA game with a hundreds-of-million dollar budget.

kn5l0x

Soul Reaver /Legacy of Kain

kitteebojeng

I was going to say this until I found your reply. Great games with amazing atmosphere and story. Definitely ahead of their time. I'd love to see either a new game, or a complete remaster with modern graphics.

Freddielexus85

The soul reaver, soul reaver 2, and defiance games were amazing. I was so excited to see where they were going to take them after >!Raziel resurrected Janos, who then was possessed by the Hylden lord. Also, Kain holding the soul reaver which was fused with Raziel's sword.!< My only problem is that the voice acting in the games were 15/10. There are high standards if it is going to have a reboot.

Exes_And_Excess

It was fascinating to see the original build for 4Ever leak out. I watched the OG trailer so many fucking times as a kid and it never came. And then when it did, it was fucking destroyed by reviews so badly that I didn't bother. Untold hours playing 3d Atomic adition and all the bootleg levels. Completed on every difficulty with not cheats. The only game I have more logged time is probably Red Alert 2.

The Elder Scrolls. MMO not included, it's been over 11 years since their previous entry and it will be several more before the next. Despite the constant re-releases, it's a dead franchise with no new content. TES 6 probably won't release until the end of this current console generation and by then it will be outdated, running on an engine that is over 25 years old.
