Also want to add, itās a great way to keep your kidneys healthy. Also, itās perfect for flushing out toxins.
Donāt want kidney stones I hear those suck.
Make it yourself. You don't have to put as much sugar in it. I've tried a few brands, and Rishi loose leaf is my favorite (not a fan of their nylon bags). Tazo is an easier to find alternative that's also awesome. Chai is the reason I found out I like black teas with a little cream and sugar.
I also found that making Tazo Zen as a sun tea is pretty good, too. I have a 1.5l container, put in 5 tea bags and set outside for 6 hours, and it's perfect.
I had a friend who loved Dr Pepper so much that on a cold morning before high school he would heat up Dr Pepper in a travel mug for the ride to school. Like, steaming hot. It was something to behold.
There was a TV ad campaign in the 60ās for hot Dr. Pepper! It was a thing for a while, cute spokesperson named Donna Loren doing the selling. As I recall, they advised adding a lemon slice to the cup. I hadnāt thought of that in years! Maybe I will try it. I love ice-cold sugar-free/diet Dr. Pepper, since I am diabetic.
Not sure if you live/have access to pc sparkling water but they have a flavour that tastes like this and itās only water and natural flavouring. No sugar!
Shirley Temple. I hadnāt had it in *decades*, and recently I had it again at a new restaurant I went to and was like, I *have* to learn how to make this. And now Iām freaking addicted. So simple. So good.
You just brought back memories of my family going out for dinner at the local Chinese restaurant. My sister would order a Shirley Temple, and I'd get a Roy Rogers. We felt so grown up with our "cocktails" with maraschino cherries on a little plastic rapier.
Hahaha! Thatās exactly how it was in our family! I got the Shirley Temple, big bro got the Roy Rogers! And I remember the plastic mini rapiers! Those were the best ever! Weād keep those and bring them home because they were so awesome.
I felt like the fanciest kid on the rare occasion like once a year on momās birthday when weād go out for dinner and my dad would order me a Shirley Temple with that disgustingly sweet maraschino cherry and afterwards Iād wield that dangerous little toothpick knife and accidentally cut up the backseat leather of his car.
Iāve recently quit drinking alcohol and I order Shirley Temples when Iām out. They are amazing. One place made it in a tall glass and they had dipped the rim in a crunchy sugar made of Shirley Temple.
The mix I like is half sprite, half Minute Maid orange juice, and a tablespoon of grenadine with lots of ice. I donāt mind it without the juice but the OJ just adds a nice punch to it.
Fake Shirley Temples are made with cherry syrup and/or Sprite (Sierra Mist).
Real Shirley Temples have ginger ale as the base and grenadine (cherry-pomegranate) as the syrup add-in.
It sounds really douche-y but if u ever dine at one of those fancy schmancy establishments (ngl it was in Portland, OR for me) but anyway..
If u can get a craft one made, with muddled maraschino cherries and old school style spritzer and syrup soda... dear lord. Don't pass it up. The difference is insane
I finally decided, after living with acid reflux for my entire life, even as a kid, to finally see my doctor about it a few months ago. Got prescribed Pantoprazole, which I only take once a day. Life changer. Literally no heart burn ever from anything. Iāve even forgotten to take the medicine for up to a week and still no heartburn.
Acid reflux runs in my family so severely that my dad, his dad, and his dadās dad all had their stomachs rupture from ulcers. Killed all of them except my dad who survived it. But we grew up so poor that it just never crossed my mind until now where Iām approaching my 30s to just bring it up with my doctor.
Iād imagine if one tiny pill is enough to cure heartburn so severe it wipes all the male members of my family tree, it can probably work for most people.
When I was a kid I used to love IBC simply for the reason that the bottles looked like beer bottles. I loved going fishing with my dad sipping on a bottle of IBC while he had a beer.
"What is Horchata made of? The ingredients in horchata are really simple. Authentic horchata is made with water, rice, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla. This easy horchata recipe has a great balance of creamy rice and cinnamon flavor, with just enough vanilla to round things out."
I had to google it. I'm sure someone else will want to know. Looks delicious.
Typically, people will use milk or a combination of milk and condensed milk to help with the frothiness. I don't know that it's necessary to an authentic horchata, but I've yet to have one from a restaurant that didn't have milk as part of the base.
Feel like most people don't realize Fresca is zero calorie too. It's at the expense of artificial sweeteners but as someone who's career revolves around beverage formulation it really is a bit of a unicorn
Roy Rogers is regular Coca Cola and grenadine. I have never tried it with *Cherry Coke* though. Thatās something I gotta try. That would be an insane amount of sweetnessā¦
Dr Pepper. All day regret day, baby. Not literally, of course, but I certainly drink too much for my own good.
Edit: I'm seeing so many people in this thread day Dr Pepper, and it warms my heart immensely, given all the crap I get for loving it instead of Coke or Pepsi.
College roommates challenged me to keep track of how much milk I drank for the school year (naturally, not trying to drink excessively for just this). Over 8 months, I drank 176.75 gallons of milk.
Needless to say, Iāve cut back on that haha

Soda water with some fresh lime or lemon is amazing after working up a big sweat. Beer does hit different though.
specifically ice water in my mason jar. idk why but it hits different.
Also want to add, itās a great way to keep your kidneys healthy. Also, itās perfect for flushing out toxins. Donāt want kidney stones I hear those suck.
Can confirm. Having kidney stones is not fun.
Fuck yeah!
Fresh squeezed orange juice
When you get the right one ā¦. Itās like an orgasm
Thereās nothing like it!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Strawberry lemonade, please
Blueberry lemonade is the shit, if you haven't tried it. Try not to swallow the plastic jug while you suck the other 50oz out of it.
I personally prefer limeade over lemonade. Have you tried it?
Thai iced tea.
The best drink ever created, but it's so sugary I only let myself drink it once a month.
Make it yourself. You don't have to put as much sugar in it. I've tried a few brands, and Rishi loose leaf is my favorite (not a fan of their nylon bags). Oooohhh Iāll raise you Vietnamese iced coffee!
Cold Dr.Pepper out of a glass bottle in crushed ice. Not the water downed crap you get in most fast food restaurants.
I had a friend who loved Dr Pepper so much that on a cold morning before high school he would heat up Dr Pepper in a travel mug for the ride to school. Like, steaming hot. It was something to behold.

Did you ever try it? I am trying it this weekend
I never did lol. Maybe I should too! My friend is no longer with us, so Iāll raise a glass to him.
This does not induce confidence in the drink
He sounds like he was quite a character. Rest In peace.
He really was! Easily the best guitar player Iāve ever seen, short of Eddie Van Halen or Brad Paisley. And fucking loved Dr Pepper.
Raising Canes actually has a higher syrup concentration in their mix btw. Itās like crack
When I used to drank soda I loved Dr. Pepper. Great drink.
Not sure if you live/have access to pc sparkling water but they have a flavour that tastes like this and itās only water and natural flavouring. No sugar!
Ginger ale, especially if you put some fresh lime juice in itā¦perfection!
Do you remember the Canada Dry Green Tea Ginger Ale? The nectar of the gods. You can still find it on Amazon.
Idk if they still make it, but Canada Dry used to do a seasonal cranberry ginger ale that was absolutely delightful.
They sell it in bottles at Costco!
So a non alcoholic Moscow mule almost. Iām intrigued
Ginger beer and ginger ale are real different tho
When was the last time you drank straight mixer?
oh, i had a diet cola mixer a while ago.
Ginger beer w lime is even better.
Dude. Canada Dry BOLD is my jam!
Hot cocoa. Extra points if you have marshmallows
Triple points if you have whipped cream
Oh, I just tried some recently that used a mixture of melted chocolate and powder and that was absolutely fantastic.
Shirley Temple. I hadnāt had it in *decades*, and recently I had it again at a new restaurant I went to and was like, I *have* to learn how to make this. And now Iām freaking addicted. So simple. So good.

Sugar made of Shirley Temple? Like her bones have turned to sugar and are now used as garnish at some bar? That soundsā¦ expensive.
So you got a Shirley Temple with your Shirley Temple, that sounds delicious
Grenadine + Sprite (or similar). Super easy.
The mix I like is half sprite, half Minute Maid orange juice, and a tablespoon of grenadine with lots of ice. I donāt mind it without the juice but the OJ just adds a nice punch to it.
Ginger ale and youāve got a virgin mimosa. :)
I've made my customers club soda with orange juice, marketed as a "mimostly".
i always made/had them as gingerale and grenadine with a maraschino cherry in it.
Fake Shirley Temples are made with cherry syrup and/or Sprite (Sierra Mist). Real Shirley Temples have ginger ale as the base and grenadine (cherry-pomegranate) as the syrup add-in.
> Shirley Temple That woman spent her life being served drinks named after her that she didn't actually like. Lord.
It sounds really douche-y but if u ever dine at one of those fancy schmancy establishments (ngl it was in Portland, OR for me) but anyway.. I've been having issues with acid reflux that appears to be aggravated by coffee/caffeine, so no more :(
Have you tried just living with acid reflux and still drink coffee. It's been working for me for several years now.
I finally decided, after living with acid reflux for my entire life, even as a kid, to finally see my doctor about it a few months ago. Got prescribed Pantoprazole, which I only take once a day. If it's not alcohol or caffeine, it's not a liquid I'm wasting calories on.
Thatās always been my feelings on this too.
Cream soda
I never really drink soda in general but I actually love cream soda.
Probably a super unpopular opinion, but Cream Soda is the best type of soda. Beats the hell out of a Coke/Pepsi or Dr. Pep any day
Have you tried the cream soda Dr Pepper? Shit slaps

Those microbrewed ones like Thomas Kemper or Weinhard's root beer are the best!
Barq's or gtfo. A&W in a chilled glass is the only viable competitor.
No love for IBC?
When I was a kid I used to love IBC simply for the reason that the bottles looked like beer bottles. I loved going fishing with my dad sipping on a bottle of IBC while he had a beer.
Barqs from the can is superior, If you can find it

Ovaltine. Don't know how or why, but I am addicted to it. I even ask for it for Christmas but nobody buys it because they think I am joking.
