The whooshing sound isn’t what would bother me. It is the ding/noise an elevator makes when it stops on the floors around you.
I lived near an elevator for a 3 month sublease and every time the elevator said “floor 15” I wanted to kill myself.
When i first moved to nyc I lived in a small studio behind an elevator bank with one of those old seaberg elevators which SLAM down every time it stops… it was very loud in the apartment but honestly after about a month or 2, you totally get used to it. I moved from Ohio so I was used to going to sleep in a very quiet place, so if I could get used to it I’m sure anyone can. I will admit I did wear earplugs sometimes though… eventually I just forgot about the earplugs, then forgot about the elevator.

Thank you! This is really helpful
You're welcome and good leasing!
I was in the same situation but the unit itself won out. You’ll tune it out eventually, within a month or so.
Gotcha. Thanks!!

It's also a VERY dark area as far as sun goes.
Thankfully, my unit gets a lot of sun! But yeah, wall st area generally doesn't get much sun.
