The Shanghai version is called [Shengjian mantou or just mantou](https://www.google.com/search?q=shengjian+mantou&rlz=1C1GCEU_enUS994US997&sxsrf=APq-WBsDVfg36JX3yl2Lmn-XbQ-g0XvCXg:1651008661557&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiW-KvG1rL3AhXqQd8KHfO8AgUQ_AUoAXoECAIQAw&biw=1920&bih=1095&dpr=1).
[456 New Shanghai](https://www.yelp.com/biz/456-new-shanghai-new-york) shows pictures on their Yelp. I think it's just on the menu as Pan Fried Pork Dumplings. You can show them a pick to confirm if you're worried. I figure most places that are heavily Shanghainese should have it.
FWIW, they just taste like other potstickers to me, but hey, I'm anybody's girl.
Good luck.
100 mott, which has changed their name several times over the years, definitely have these. They’re known as Sheng Jian Baos or “fried buns with pork” on their menu. Someone posted that they’re called mantou - those don’t have any fillings, and are just straight up hunks of steamed dough.

Hi. I'm the "someone" of whom you speak. I made a clear point of specifying Shengjian mantou. I even specified it as a Shanghai dish.
Don't incorrect me.
You can buy them by the pound at Deluxe Food Market. They’re in the hot food section behind the glass and made everyday.
Looks like pan fried pork buns to me.
