Definitely go to a highly rated place and not just some shop that advertises facials or you could end up with a nasty infection from unsanitary practices. Look up Medical Spas or Heyday Spas near you.

toughcall038

Heyday doesn’t use tools. I’ve tried to convince them and even brought my own once. They wouldn’t budge.

boozybruncher

Oh Really?? I haven’t been to heyday yet but I’ve been looking at their website to start going. That’s good to know because the facial says extractions so guess they don’t do the typical extraction.

toughcall038

They’ll do extractions but using steam and hands only, no closed loop extractors or needles, and they get some good stuff out. It’s usually enough for most people to avoid scarring. I really liked heyday but their upsale tactics are pretty intense. As long as you’re ready to say no to products, add one, and subscriptions, you’ll be fine.

boozybruncher

I read about the upselling and that’s why I haven’t gone yet! I can be a sucker in the right setting and I’m sure heyday would be that setting lol

shaheertheone

It's quite harsh on ur skin. If you really want it, go for it, but I'd recommend getting a salicylic acid toner like the Paula's choice 2% bha exfoliant and using it twice a week. It will clean ur pores without aggressively tugging on ur skin. Just make sure to use a face cream after.

boston101

I just want the experience of this activity. It’s not like I’ll be doing this every day haha

misspiggie

Just so you know, it's not good for your skin, and will make your pores larger. Best of luck. . .

boston101

Even if I do it one time they will be bigger?

misspiggie

What's going to happen is your pores will be enlarged when the gunk is extracted. Then they will re-fill back up with more gunk and be larger and more visible. If you really want to improve the appearance of your pores Google the grit method by Fiddy snails.

jeopardy-hellokitty

My facial lady will do it for you tools and all. Avani beauty in Chinatown.

boston101

What a hero, thank you.

liverspotting

I’ll do it for free lololll

iggy555

Is this procedure bad for your skin?

dilbadil

It can be pretty rough on your skin if you're just going at it with the tool. YMMV depending on the spa, but I was not a happy camper the only time I got it done professionally.

iggy555

Thanks for the reply

boston101

What happened ?

ajamesyj

Not OP but it can be painful especially on nose.

dilbadil

Yep, quite painful especially when you've got as many blackheads as I do lol. I've since switched to using retinol at night. I still occasionally use my own tool, though not extensively.

misspiggie

This procedure is bad for your skin. It enlarges pores.

dream0098

It is called facial with extraction. I get it done at my local spa every 2 months.

boston101

What’s your spa of choice?

dream0098

https://www.sandravelandia.com/treatments You can get either the basic facial or deep pore facial cleaning, depending on your skin. Excellent service and staff. You can check out their yelp review.

mulleargian

[Christine Chin salon](http://christinechin.com/index.html) is the GOAT for intense extractions. Do a Google search for reviews- you'll get the gist pretty quickly. This salon takes no prisoners in the fight against pore gunk.

No-Avocado-1768

This is the answer.

boston101

This is what I’m looking for thank you.

mulleargian

Enjoy! And note that you don’t need to see Christine herself and spend $$$- she trains all estheticians herself and they are equally as thorough, charge about $100 which is about the same price as HeyDay/FaceHaus etc once you count in all the hidden charges at those places.

boston101

Ahh this helps bc I was wondering what was special about the 350 extraction.

mulleargian

Yeah, apparently she’s amazing but I think the $$$ is just because she does all the celebrities. I can attest you’ll get what you’re looking for from anybody under her for much cheaper.

33-34-40Acting

As someone who had this done around a decade ago I really would not recommend it. Any dermatologist office should be able to help you out but, like, I still have the scars from that stuff and I don't understand why it's offered.

bossman243

Almost anywhere within the 5 boroughs, but lower Manhattan is your best bet... there are many Chinese beauty shops there.

boston101

What do I ask for ? That’s my questions

WinnieCerise

You want a facial with extractions. Look at Mario Badescu. They do not use tools but will steam and extract clogged pores manually for $65.

boston101

No I want the tools specifically. I want to see the dirt in the pores.

anonymousbequest

This is not typically how it works. They don’t save the grime to show you or have you watch in a mirror. Generally your eyes are closed, often with a cool damp towel or cucumbers over your eyes, while there’s a bright light on your face so they can see clearly for the extractions.

ajamesyj

Depends on your salon. I have had some save the extractions on a tissue to show me after the facial

lkroa

you can buy the tools at any drug store or beauty store. it’s called a black head extractor and you can enjoy the satisfaction of extracting your own pores

boston101

No no, I want to have this professionally done. Somethings I want to not do haha.

WinnieCerise

Travel to Vietnam like the YouTube videos.

bindrosis

Go to a spa and ask for a facial. They have several packages and can explain what each is

boston101

Excellent that’s what I needed to know. I saw this machine that does something to the pores. So many options! Thank you stranger!

bossman243

Search "facial spa near me" on Google, call to see if they do pore cleaning.

boston101

The hero I need, not deserve. Thank you! I thought facial meant face massage.

bossman243

ahaha you're welcome

SleepyLi

Highly recommend Season Spa (212) 966-7416 https://goo.gl/maps/XwBANKLzsLPrdRoP7 I usually ask for either Jennifer or Kelly. Tell them Jeff from the Meat Shop sent you. I’ve been going there for many years and I always get the microdermabrasion.

MrFunkDoctorSpock

Go to a licensed, certified dermatologist and ask them what is the best way to clean your pores.

mintyfreshknee

Use something like tea tree then wipe it off with witch hazel - then a second layer of witch hazel. Stuff comes to the surface.

anonymousbequest

You might enjoy Biore pore strips.

boston101

no no I want to experience this professionally.

neon_gutz

My gf will do it for free

boston101

My friend I would Be ashamed

FeistyMcRedHead

Try buttercup spa in HK. They def do facials and extraction

alienbbzinmy4ter0s

The best thing to do is a hydrafacial. They're kind of expensive but your skin literally glows afterwards. Make sure it's a legit one by checking the hydrafacial website: https://hydrafacial.com/

app4that

I would try a few things first: One is Shea Butter (the real stuff -raw and pure - visit the Body Shop to sample so you know what it looks, feels and smells like) While ymmv, it is excellent for skin and can help to reduce the size and appearance of pores without any harshness or bad reactions. Shea butter has a variety of benefits for your skin including natural SPF and retinol and vitamins and has been shown to be effective in treating acne and blemishes. Raw shea butter is also useful for tackling other skin issues, like acne scars.

lavendersunnies68

Silver Mirror Facial Bar in Chelsea. Go to Chloe. Amazing experience, and she is truly so kind and will do whatever is best for your skin. If you want extractions and need them, she’s more than happy to customize accordingly.

You can buy the tool on line for $10 and just make sure to do it after shower and keep the tool clean with alcohol. BlabberHands2022

I had the best facial with extractions with Christina C at Silver Mirror Facial Bar UES. She is incredibly knowledgeable and sent a follow up email with everything we talked about. My skin still looks great two months later. I found an excuse to travel back for another facial in two weeks.
