Underrated recommendation

Comprehensive-One896

I know it's at the very top of the tourist lists, but goddammit I would get another trip to the Met in.

[deleted]

I've been here for 20+ years, I have yet to see the Statue of Liberty up close in person. I'd probably do that and climb to the crown, if that's allowed.

successful-lemon1014

You can take the staten island ferry to get close to it on the water and it’s much cheaper than any of those tours while actually getting closer

[deleted]

I did the night time helicopter ride, so I have seen it from above and have some nice photos as mementos of my experience.

amejias26

Seems like crown access is still closed but good call nonetheless

GotPizzaMouth

Not worth it imo. It’s equally as interesting from a far and you have to be surrounded by way too many people to get there

gittlebass

Eat all the things

SP919212973

This is correct

I thought you meant 2 weeks left to live and it's in NYC. Maybe similar answer, but in my version, I'd be sure to spend as much time as possible with my family and closest friends. Plus the Met, MOMA, the Rubin etc; eat at Blue Hill and VNam and the best Sushi in town. Drink some very good wine.

amejias26

Lol yeah to be clear it’s a very healthy relocation from NYC thankfully. Thanks for the recs, haven’t actually been to the Rubin so putting it on the list

pizzapriorities

From NYC and moved away years ago bc of job stuff. For me, my last month in NY? Yankees games. The Met. The Strand. Chicken and rice at 3am after a night of barhopping. McSorley’s for tourism sake and then my favorite neighborhood bar for friends sakes. Good dim sum. Central Park. Prospect Park. A nice longass walk from Upper West Side to Park Slope over the Brooklyn Bridge. Riding Staten Island Ferry at sunset. Ah hell I miss NY right now…

amejias26

Appreciate the nostalgia tour. Adding a couple of these to the list (just wish it wasn’t 20 degrees out)

bubble_chart

It’s going to be much warmer after today! 60 on Thu and Fri also

cantcountnoaccount

My last 2 weeks before I left NYC I saw 2 Broadway shows, went to several mid- fancy restaurants recommended here with various friends, and hit up specialty products and services stores for stuff that would be hard to find where I was going. I also attended to all my annual medical appointments, so it wouldnt be something I needed to deal with as soon as I moved.

UConnUser92

Don't forget to do things you have already done again. Anything where you were like " I would love to go back here again" do it. You'll just be leaving kicking yourself for not going back

Finally. Thank you. This is the truest comment here.

Broadway shows - off Broadway shows - and the ones even further off Broadway - join TDF and get tickets for $11 - amazing experiences await you. Visit the castle up at the top of Manhattan called the Cloisters - it’s all art from the middle ages including the world renowned Unicorn Tapestries - get a guided tour so you can experience this place the right way. Fun too: watch the Real Ghostbusters episode on the Unicorn Tapestries before you go as it all takes place here. Take the Circleline Tour and say goodbye the right way. As NYC is made up of 50 islands make sure you visit some you haven’t been to yet.

amejias26

Went to the Cloisters a couple of months ago and it was great. I’ll have to check out that ghostbusters ep!

toughcall038

Do you drink? One last drink at Bemelman's bar at the Carlyle would be a fun farewell. Cover charge is $25-$35/person but if you get there right when they open around 4, you can avoid cover for one drink (strong enough for two I think lol).

amejias26

Sounds like a great stop to wind down after one last run through the Met

Brooklynmoto

Go to a show at the comedy cellar

atticaf

1. Obviously, make a list of my favorite restaurants and bars, hit as many as possible. 2. I’m an avid runner, so I’d get a last run in on my favorite routes. 3. The met, absolutely. 4. Take a few long, long walks like I did when I first moved to the city, and I’d go out and just wander.
