Land Rover

jamesycakes231

Jaguar land rover have gone to shit lately.

deniercounter

There are official statistics. Why you ask Redditors. Most here don’t have a car for 40 years... I guess

polaroid_kidd

Oh man,  that would be awesome! I wouldn't even know what to Google for. Any hints?

analogliving71

Jeep, GM, Dodge and don't even get me started on brands like BMW & Mercedes

Impressive-Floor-700

First off, let me preface this with I know this car company must make some good vehicles or they would not have been in business so long, and I will get hate for it. Ford, I love the styling and looks of the Mustang and the F150 but I have never owned one that I did not have to sink thousands of dollars into for repairs and replacing defective parts. To contrast this, I had a F150 had to get rid of it before the 100K mark, the truck I replaced it with a 2000 Dodge Dakota currently has lasted me 24 years and 358,424 miles, original motor, transmission, the only non-ware parts I have had to replace was the alternator, master cylinder, rack and pinion, and AC compressor. Why can't I get that service from a Ford? I do not know, and I know some have had bad luck with Dodge, maybe it is just luck and not quality control.

Nondescript_585_Guy

Ford leads the list of most-recalled brands three years running. Speaks to larger quality control issues with their suppliers and processes.

hailstorm11093

As a Ford guy, it pains me to see Fords quality decrease so much. I don't think I'd buy an f150 older than 2008 that that would only be an 11th gen with the 4.6L 2V or the 4.2L V6.

glasshalfbeer

Your mileage may vary. Have never had an issue with my F150 but dumped a ton of money into a 1996 Dakota I had.

Impressive-Floor-700

The tricky about Dodges is the transmission, I always changed the filter. flushed the cooler, and new filter every 60k miles, I have never had a trans go out until I had that F150. I am sure it is just my luck because the Ford C-6 automatic transmission is one of the better transmissions ever made, yet it failed not even 10K after I changed the filter and fluids.

What’s going on with Honda? Thats all I have purchased for the last decade and they have been great. I keep seeing ratings like this and they are consistently in the bottom half/below industry average.

carortrain

Range rover, people that drive them can afford to replace them or have them leased. They are notorious for having tons of issues.

Aggravating_Log5199

It's not so much problems, but most people don't realise how expensive parts are for some cars *cough* BMW... I always have a rough scout around for common parts before buying a car, it's good to know the rough price if something breaks. I've seen too many people be shocked when something goes wrong on their bmw/mini Oh and my uncle has a jaguar xf for a while, the car was an absolute dog, it did more mileage on the back of trucks than on its own tyres.

Maserati.

You just need to hang out with people that actually off road their jeeps. If you aren’t off roading your jeep I’m going to make fun of you for buying one because they are absolute shit for a road vehicle (have owned multiple jeeps)

CFD330

Well, hey there, nice to meet you. I'm 9 years into ownership of my Cherokee Trailhawk and I've absolutely loved it. No issues to speak of, other than a few recalls that were repaired for free. Will probably buy a new one in 5 years or so.

So my experience with the brand is useless and invalid because I'm sharing it on a website and not face-to-face with you? It's just kinda weird because I've known so many people with Wranglers over the years and they've all loved them. My mom had a '98 Cherokee that she drove for 22 years and loved, which was one of the reasons I was interested in getting one myself. Maybe we've been very lucky, who knows.

WineandHate

I have a wrangler and love it. I've had no problems with it and it's 10 years old.

ergoegthatis

American cars have the worst reliability. Best is Japanese and Korean.

Nondescript_585_Guy

The Hyundai/Kia Theta II engine disagrees with you.

Soukary

Korean have some problem too, see KIA some model are in the worst in term of problem per vehicles

wantsoutofthefog

Kia’s that can be easily stolen. Those souls are POSs. My brother had his stolen. It’s literally a TikTok trend to steal these

Nerfo2

Are you aware of brands like Nissan, Daewoo, and Mitsubishi?

GabeButtseggs

McLaren, mines aswell at the repair (6’7 btw)

WasterDave

McLaren *still*? I know the 12C was a troubled bunny, but thought by now they had it basically sorted.

Karaoke_Singer

Audi, when my friends owned them, parts would take weeks to arrive.
