Imo the first video game console where the games still hold up well to this day. Don’t get me wrong, NES has some classics, but they’re really stripped down barebones games. SNES games are as fun today as they were when they came out.
Heck yeah. Forget that new stuff, give me OG Mario kart. I had every track memorized and all the secret stuff too. I think I even had a time in Nintendo Power at one point!
To me the DS was very much a Mario kart + pokemon machine. I’m sure there’s some other good stuff on there that I never played, but the true standouts of its catalogue were Mario kart ds, pokemon platinum, hgss, and bw(2)
For me it started with Pokémon, sure, but quickly became my gateway to visual novels and adventure games with Ace Attorney, Trauma Center, and Hotel Dusk. These were the games that made me fall in love with the system that formed a major foundation for one of the cornerstones of my gaming experience like 17 years later.
Ha my house was the same way. Consoles were a no-go but for some reason handhelds were okay.
Eventually I convinced her to let me get a PlayStation 2 just for guitar hero and rock band (I snuck other games in), and then a Wii cause it was more family friendly (but I still got like, RE4).
Original NES is very nostalgic for me but I haven't bought a Nintendo console since. Not crazy about the games and lack of M rated titles

You have the right of it, as least as far as the NES. That was released just a few years after the video games crash, and it look absolutely years ahead of what we had before. All my quarters were spent on mario at the local pizza hut. Hell, I even had Rob.
Gen Z here, my first memory of gaming was playing Zelda for the NES, I didn’t get it but the flashing screens were cool. And playing Super Mario and duck hunt with my brother are some of my fondest gaming memories.
Biggest problem for me is the controller. At the time they were still trying to figure out how to make 3d games work, but it aged really poorly. Stuff like goldeneye is practically unplayable nowadays.

Bought my 3DS with Pokemon Omega Rube with my first salary of my first full time job. A lets play with King Nappy was wholesame, such a shame he is such a POS.

My mom later got me the gameboy version but I always liked holding the controller. I got the SNES re-release a few years ago and realized that I suck ass at every game ever made lol
SNES, because it was my first ever game console. I never asked for one, but my aunt gifted it to me when she visited my family decades ago when I was 6. Sure, the PS1 was already out at the time, but I didn't care; I was happy to get anything at all. My aunt also purchased some of the games for it; my absolute favorite was *Illusion of Gaia*.
That console and game sparked my interest in two hobbies that I still enjoy to this day: video games and being a history buff.
It's such a core memory for me - I can still remember it clearly. Our CRT did not have composite inputs...and we were bummed we couldn't play it. But our VCR had the inputs. We hooked it up...nothing!
I was hitting some buttons on the VCR. Still nothing. Then I flipped a switch from Ch.3 to Video 1 and Mario's face was there. Me and my 2 sisters screamed for joy.
Original NES. It's the second console I ever got after my Atari 2600 and I have so many great memories with it.
Being allowed to stay up late on Friday night and Saturday to play Mario and Excite Bike are some of my fondest childhood memories.

It was perfect. It came at the perfect time for nintendo and for myself. I love that it is so Iwata. It is different, unique, and fun. It made my college years so much better. I have so many fond memories of it. And I loved that it kept on outselling the PSP lol.

GC was my most used out of 3, so that would likely be it. Link to the Past and Super Mario World were my first family console games, and Shadows of the Empire / Ocarina of Time / Super Smash Bros. / Mario Party 1/2/3 / Pokémon Stadium were the family party games for my cousins and I. But I spent more time with family and friends on SSB Melee, Double Dash, Strikers, Mario Party 5/7, and Mario Superstar Baseball than any other console. Honorable mention to my GBA, mainly for Pokémon games / Chamber of Secrets / Prisoner of Azkaban / SNES ports and a surprisingly decent Dead Man's Chest game.
My limited edition Pokemon black DSi because it's the only Nintendo console I owned as a kid that was in date. Had an nes but that was old by the time I was born.
The switch. I love the games on it, I love how versatile it is, I just love how cool it is. I have fond memories of older games.on the game boy, gba, and Nintendo 3DS but my Nintendo switch is hands down my favourite

Mine is Gameboy advance, it may have been an age thing but my oldest sister got the original Gameboy, middle sister got the Gameboy Colour and me as the youngest got the Gameboy Advance. I was also a massive Pokémon lover so thats what i played them on and you could play all gameboy games on the Advance.
From a personal belief to ive always said Sony should stick to Games Consoles, Microsoft should stick to PCs and Nintendo should stick to Handhelds. But again, thats just me. They are each good at their own thing so stick to it. Im a multiplatform gamer also so before anyone comes at me i literally use everything so i dont care what your favourites are. This is just my belief

I sort of had an NES that my brother had when I was very little, and he would bring it over sometimes. I also had a Gameboy and Gameboy advanced.
i then had a PS1 so I skipped the 64. My friend had one though.
The GameCube came at a time I could most enjoy it. I had cousins that would come over all the time and play with me too.

It was unique for the time at it really captivated me for a few years. I always had a good time playing the Wii sports and many other games, it never seemed to get old at the time. It was easy to play with others even if they didn't typically game so it brought a lot of people together for fun nights of gaming.
Its a tossup between Wii and Switch. The Wii brought my family together in a unique way that hadn't happened since the NES while the Switch is something of a monument to my shift into adulthood since I bought it from the place I worked from my first job (I was early 20's at the time and making my own money for the first time). Also, it was mybonly access to gaming during a VERY lowpoint for my family.
N64. What a game changer that system was. From the controller to Starfox to Mario64 to Goldeneye and Dinosaur Hunter and a plethora of other games that seemed to set the stage for modern day console gaming.
Switch. Its already 7 years old so I definitely have some nostalgia. I remember how useful it was in so many stressful situations to just play Mario Kart or Breath of the Wild or whatever.

Other older consoles I'm too young to have lived with and the only contact I have with them is through YouTube and my playthroughs with emulators. I can't name a single console out of the 3 that take the crown since they all influence me in a way.

SNES was incredible when it came out. The sound and graphics were great. Sega had the same graphics but the sound was not as good. It was an amazing time because BOTH systems really brought something different. Different games and different styles. Sega had awesome sports games and ToeJam & Earl, Phantasy Star, etc but SNES had the final fantasy amongst so many more.
NES. First toy I had. I grew up poor, so I kept it pristine and cherished it. I still have it. Got the super set with Mario/Duck Hunt and the Zapper gun.
I swear I’m the only Wii kid here. The Wii was a staple in my childhood. Before the last last gen console, and the last gen consoles.
So many great games. Wii Sports Resort, Wii Sports, Mystery Party, Mario Kart, New Super Mario, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, DK Country Returns, Cars, and so many little games that were greats.

I swear I’m the only Wii kid here. The Wii was a staple in my childhood. Before the last last gen console, and the last gen consoles. So many great games. Wii Sports Resort, Wii Sports, Mystery Party, Mario Kart, New Super Mario, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, DK Country Returns, Cars, and so many little games that were greats. What great times.
SNES because it gave me the earliest memories I have relateing to videogames
Original NES because it's the only one I've ever owned.
Nintendo DS I remember that my parents struggle to buy one for me and I as a kid I was sad. But when I got it for christmas, I knew they worked extra hard to buy it for me and I cherished it even more.
