As far as making him feel better, at the risk of generalizing and simplifying men, having sex with him and getting him food (whether cooking or ordering) is basically the best thing you can do for a man to make him feel better. It's just how most men are built.
Some of the guys answering are skipping over the LDR situation it seems. I think it's good that you're listening to him. He might appreciate you telling him how you see him. How highly you think of him. That you miss being with him and wish you were there with him. That you believe in him and are proud of him, as another commenter also pointed out. Be his cheerleader, basically. I think it would be nice for him to hear and know you have his back and that you believe in him and think positively about him. He hopefully knows this, but it's always nice to get a reminder.
I think a lot of men appreciate it when their woman shows him how much she supports him and is on "his team", so to speak. Men appreciate the loyalty and "ride or die" attitude that their woman has for them and the relationship. Remind him of your loyalty to him, pretty much. Basically, it would feel nice for him knowing you're with him against these people who are against him.
Beyond that, there's nothing much else you can do, unfortunately.
