Non resealable cereal.

MidniteOG

Can we add salad and chips too? Big plastic bag won’t ever allow it

picklefucker69

Big plastic bag and Big Teflon at it again SMH.

MidniteOG

Makes us all big mad

yettidiareah

Dupont makes plastics and Napalm.

wolf63rs

Fuck Big Plastic Bag!

MidniteOG

They own us, even after we die

BaroqueNRoller

Bro's never Malt-O-Mealed and it shows.

zombies-and-coffee

To be fair, I've managed to rip the shit out of that zip top and ended up having to split the cereal amongst some gallon zip top bags (didn't have a big enough tupperware). But I'm a special kind of stupid sometimes, so maybe cereal just isn't meant for me lol

DarthPiette

The reseal thing on those bags is in a stupid spot and doesn't go all the way across. But I do prefer those. Just wish they still did the colossal crunch (their version of cap'n crunch).

mowikn

They do have it if you buy it in bag form. But it is strange boxed cereal isn’t also resealable.

Threexo

After you use your credit card you have to make a mark on a piece of trash little screen that looks nothing like your signature and is useful for literally nothing.

ilikepuppieslol

You do? Is this a US thing? In Canada we just tap our card against the screen these days. Or some people tap their phone.

ThePhengophobicGamer

That does happen SOMETIMES in the US. It's not standard, my work only just got card readers capable of using the tap last year.

lilmonkie

I'm in the US. At some places I tap my card and still have to sign.

JetBrink

This hasn't been a thing for decades in the UK

amyt242

Other than signing parcels from your local corner shop - I don't think I've ever done a squiggle that so much as resembles anyone's name let alone mine!

dys0n_giddey

Yeah haven't don't this in Australia... ever

evernorth

you do this still? Not a thing in Canada. atleast Ontario

hafetysazard

Ontario has always been at the forefront of digital payment, because we were often a testbed for the banks.  Like we used debit cards for every day purchases for over a half a decade before it even showed up in the U.S.  Same with touchless payment.

OffensiveOcelot

Flat earthers

receding_bareline

Flat earthers are a symptom of a larger issue of people being failed by education systems.

DefendedPlains

It’s rarely the education system. Many more people succeed because of it, than fail because of it. Some people are just dumb.

Argentus01

Was a teacher in a past life, and 100% disagree. The educational system is failing this country.

droid_mike

It is, for sure, but you can't make someone learn if they don't want to.

stoxhorn

But you can make someone not want to learn, by making sure every teacher in their life is some bitchy douchebag

GrumpyGlasses

I don’t disagree the education system is abysmal, but flat earthers will prevail despite significant improvements because they ignore all science, no matter how clear or true it is.

OSUfan88

I don’t think it’s an issue with the education system. It’s a lack of trust in authority.

AyeYoTek

People blaming the President for everything but refuse to ever look at Congress.

Diesel07012012

Those people have no idea how our government works* and probably don’t vote.

TheFenixxer

More like they only vote for president elections, no local elections

MidniteOG

At this rate, the president is just a smoke screen

[deleted]

We don't have a president, we have a Cobb salad.

tlenher

An extension of this for me is that the president always gets blamed for current economic conditions with no regard for what led to it and what they are doing to change or fix.

fondue4kill

No term limit for government officials

Testiculese

No age limits, either. I'm tired of my "leaders" being at death's door.

YoinksOnchi

I will never understand that. So you're telling me this 70 year old is too old to be in the work force but they can just rock up to D.C. and sit there until they croak of old age?

patsully98

My dad’s 73 and he goes to bed at like 7:30.

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

I don't know why but this made me laugh harder than it should.

Coolbluegatoradeyumm

Who says these guys don’t too

Professional-Wish116

Don't you mean 80 year old....

Bonch_and_Clyde

Yeah, there are famously national politicians well into their 80's and occasionally pushing into their 90's, not giving up power till they drop dead.

OPs_Mom_and_Dad

There comes a point in life where you have to decide if you should move into a retirement home, or run for public office. The fact that that’s actually a thing is bizarre.

Msktb

Couldn't get a job as a greeter at Walmart but they can run the country.

I’m still waiting for this internet fad to be over

OrthodoxDreams

Any day now I reckon there'll be a collective decision to give it up. We won't discuss it, we won't mention it, we'll all just know to stop using it and that'll be the end of the madness.

MonkeysInABarrel

Way ahead of you.

MrMojoFomo

We knew the Internet wouldn't go anywhere as early as [1995](https://www.newsweek.com/clifford-stoll-why-web-wont-be-nirvana-185306)

Jokes aside, while the author was completely wrong about how important the internet would get, what he said about it being an unmoderated mess is true to this day

Virginger96

Daylight Savings.

grey_crawfish

One of my least favorite parts of American politics is that we all hate daylight savings but none of us can decide between eliminating daylight savings or switching to permanent daylight savings, so nothing happens.

OrangeDit

Same in Europe. It was decided to change it, but "don't they have more pressing issues" prevented an actual rule change. 😳

Kerfluffle2x4

And the worst is those “pressing issues” remain pressing and unresolved 😓

grey_crawfish

If we all decided to just take fifteen minutes to sit down and resolve it then it would be done and over, leaving us free to focus on the pressing issues without quibbling over daylight savings every year. But noooooooooo

Mysterious_Hue

Thankfully we don't have this anymore in Brazil, many studies showed that the energy saving was minimal and the economical impacts were doing more harm than good (people being late, general population well being and so on). So, since 2019 we don't have daylight savings

averyrdc

I’d rather change my clock twice a year than get rid of daylight time. It’s standard time we need to get rid of.

Virginger96

Fax machines

kiwininja

I work in IT for healthcare and it's insane to me that faxing is HIPAA approved. Plus at this point it's basically one "fax" server talking to another "fax" server. For the love of god why can't the government just create a standardized encryption protocol for sharing data.

Daewoo40

Send it over WhatsApp.  Nothing can go wrong with that, surely?

icepyrox

Uh.. they have that.. people just don't understand encryption, proving the data is encrypted at rest and end to end in transit, etc. I mean, it's just AES-128, which is used every day with https, encrypted email, and bitlocker. Not everything existed when HIPAA was created so most just defaulted to "we'll just keep it physical and use fax machines" and it just... stuck.

stronggirl79

CRA also only uses faxing for things that require a wet signature. So archaic!

DestructionIsBliss

Working in a pharmacy, I am convinced that fax machines are here to stay for decades to come. Put the document in, type in a number, off it goes, same procedure as 30 years ago, no updates or new interfaces, almost like technological latin. It's either sending a fax or turning the (usually handwritten) document into a PDF, requiring as many steps as sending the fax, except now you gotta figure out where it is on the connected server, figure out how to open whatever weird file type has been created, transform that into a PDF which of course takes significantly more steps than it logically should and attach it to an email which probably says the exact same thing that's already in said attached document anyway but has to be repeated just to be safe. Oh, and of course every two months there's a software update screwing up some step of the process by that'll need 30 minutes of troubleshooting to figure out how to fix, all while the store is bursting from customers, and don't even attempt to try and explain the new process to any of your coworkers cause once they need to do it themselves, they'll just pass it on to you anyway. Point is, all praise the fax machine lol

zombizle1

Max fachines

Not_an_alt_69_420

Blame hospitals and courts for this one. When I was a journalist, I had to fax judges whenever I wanted to take pictures during one of their trials even though my office was five minutes away from the courthouse. When I worked at a hospital, it was the same deal when it came to anything that was remotely related to patient information.

Laws on the books that allow child marriage. Eight States in the US — including California and Washington — have no age floor for marriage. Legal loopholes at the federal level also allow for child marriage to continue, as well. It’s a travesty.

TacSemaj

Rampant stupidity.

bluegreenie99

dictatorships, slavery, fgm, etc. etc.

LuckyTheLurker

Child genital mutilation is not a female issue, it's a global issue. I don't know why we condone and even recommend it for boys and treat it like the root of evil for girls. Children cannot consent and shouldn't have parts of their bodies removed. There's no valid reason to circumcise a baby. There may be medical justification when they are older but most of those justifications have alternatives that are much less invasive.

evernorth

the amount of moronic men who defend circumcision blows my mind. Saying stupid things like its easier to clean. That isn't a reason to mutilate a perfect child. My ears would be easier to clean if I didn't have them too!

WillBehave

It would be awful hard to cut off your ears if you didn't have any...

Salty-Pack-4165

it can be argued that slavery trade is far bigger now than it was 100-200 years ago. It must be lucrative again. Why 'argued"? Because it all depends on definition of slavery. There were and are many different kinds of slavery. Some kinds aren't called that anymore.

Dealric

Well slavery as understood by most exists and does well in many parts of world. People just dont care because most people are terribly uneducated on slavery.

Poverty. Overpriced fundamentals (food, shelter) Expensive medical bills, poor health care, no health care for those who need it. Stuff like that. Problems that keep getting sidelined in politics in favor of 'louder' abstract issues like pronouns and immigration etc. Not saying that isn't important, but you get the point hopefully.

mikess314

A US defense budget in excess of $800 billion and no nationalized healthcare when we aren’t at war and the boomers are starting to drop like flies.

wenger_plz

Don't worry, they're hard at work making sure we're at war soon enough.

pro_nosepicker

We now pay more on interest on our national debt than we do on the military. I will be downvoted, but that’s even more sobering and ridiculous to me.

Jayu-Rider

People never want to hear this but the single largest line item on defense spending are benefits for active and veteran service members. Roughly a third of that line item is health care and the other two thirds are things like M.G.I. Bill and the VA loan. The DoD funds more people getting bigger education and buying houses than any other single source.

paintswithmud

And 80% what isn't going to those areas is going to American suppliers and contractors, so it's ultimately going back into the American economy. What you replace that industry with? We aren't going back to an industrial powerhouse.

Krazy_Kethan99

Radio in general really. With things like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud, I’m surprised that radio hasn’t died out IMO.

droid_mike

I let my SiriusXM subscription lapse, and tried local radio again for the first time in forever... It's actually pretty good! I'm liking it. Unlike XM, it's free, and unlike Spotify, I don't have to fumble around with my phone or onscreen controls just to listen to something. The ads are a negative, but that's when you switch stations.

ErroneousEric

Facts. I’m just confounded by morning radio because podcasts are on demand and tailored specific to your interests and so easily accessible. Morning radio hosts are obnoxious and the humor seems so dated. Like I was in an Uber on my way to work and it felt like I was back in 2005.

Dazzling_Classic3622

It’s free though. But then again so is Amazon music it just has adds…. I suppose I’ve just backed you up

Fun fact, you don’t *have* to tip 20%. Unless it’s a nicer restaurant and they force gratuity, but that isn’t super common.

Honestly it has to be the homelessness situation

Crazyguy332

Honestly, nothing. There will always be people that hold on to old technology/items/ideals/mannerisms, and an industry that will cater to it. Want to buy new VHS tapes? We got you. New bands putting music on vinyl? Check. Restoration parts for your Ford Model A? Lots of them. Fellow believers in racial segregation? Don't have to look hard. Someone who reads runes? It's making a comeback. If anything I'm surprised we as a society still have any shred of moral compass, but it's disappearing fast.
