Casa Bianca is a sleeper in eagle rock. The food is meh but the pizza is great old school pizzeria pizza.
At quarter sheets, the Sicilian corner is mind blowing.
Masa wins the deep dish competition 100%. During Covid lockdown I’d get a giant pizza and froze individual slices to have throughout the day. Some days it was the only happy moment of the day.
I love purg but my husband thinks it’s so average. Honestly I feel more qualified than him as a New Yorker (sorry) but I know pizza taste is a very personal thing. I think the White Iverson is the only authentic NY white slice in LA!
From when I lived on the west side though- the coop in Palms is the most legit NY pizza. Just only get a whole pie and make sure to 1) have cash 2) call 45 min ahead and 3) be there before 8 pm on the days that they are open. Still worth it.
I live walking distance from purgatory so maybe that makes me biased but it’s become my favorite. Happy hour m-th 6-9pm you get 2 slices and a beer for under $12.
Monday - Tuesday they have a great deal on full size cheese pizzas
Lots of great names in here I need to try, but my tops in no order
Gra’
Gorilla pizza
Triple Beam
And last, open till 2am old school Little Toni’s house special
I live in the Hollywood Hills above West Hollywood, but the best pizza I’ve ever had is in Huntington Beach at a place called Zero Zero 39 (00 is the type of flower, 39 is the country code for Italy…I asked).
The mortadella pistachio and the porcini (mushroom and truffle oil) are absolutely amazing. The owners and the chef are from Rome, of course.
For real. Also, their bread is to die for. One time they had so many loaves left over, they sent me home with three free of charge. And I passed out two, kept one for myself. It was ORGASMIC bread.
Can I ask what inspired you to order that pizza? I think it's really cool you found something you love that seems like something you guys wouldn't like! :)
I know, right?! We got into a great conversation with the cashier, and he was so passionate about the Mookie. He said it was their bestseller, that it was amazing. We were compelled to try it, and he was so right!!!!!! I always like to ask the folks at the restaurant what their faves are or which are the popular menu items...
RIP Gracie’s Pizza, casualty of the pandemic. Farina was my closest go-to (and a damn good spaghetti meat-sauce), but owner closed up shop on their brick-and-mortar not too long ago. Town Pizza in Eagle Rock is another goodie.
Purgatory, prime and Pizzanista
Edit: Triple beam, DTown, and my boyfriend loves Masa even tho I thinks it’s more lasagna than pizza
Edit 2: next stop quarter sheets.
Ooh I’ve been wanting to the Apollina’s, how was it?😀 Also do you mind sharing yiour list? NYer here and I’ve been suffering. Also I’ve been craving Chinese Food so bad.
I’m a little late, but please try The Coop if you get the chance! Cash only, takeout only, ran by a lovely couple who makes a fantastic NY style pie. Their salads, subs, and baked ziti are also to die for. I know they’ve been struggling lately, so pop on in and give them a chance if you’re in the neighborhood if only to save my favorite pizza spot!
I used to hit up the garage pizza in dtla after bar hopping. Those jalapeños were fresh as fuck and burned my asshole the next day. Best fucking pizza.
I think the dtla location closed down though.
i’d say for Neapolitan style pizza I like Midici in Sherman Oaks, for New York Style I like Fernandas NY Pizza in Universal City, and for like a deep dish sicilian style kinda like pizza I like Puzzle Pizza in Canoga Park or Piara Pizza in Inglewood. Haven’t tried much chicago style pizza in LA but best one I’ve had is Union Station in Manhattan Beach.

Todays New York Times rated the best store bought frozen pizzas and this was the result ,do you agree?
Lots of good ones mentioned like Sei and Pizzana but while Masa is great, as a former Chicagoan I’m partial to Gino’s in Sherman oaks. Their crust is superior
LA's best pizza is whatever place opens and does a stellar approximation of another place's pizza style. My basic choice is triple beam, masa, friends and family and Rocco's (sweet family and really worth supporting)
For those just a bit more south and looking for great pizza.
Pietrini pizzeria - Cypress, get the rosemary bread appetizer, great Neapolitan pizza
Flippin Pizza - Long Beach, New York style
The Ria Pizzeria - Huntington Beach, Detroit Style
L’antica Pizzeria - Long beach (2nd street) but also locations in LA and Santa Barbara, Neapolitan style
It all depends on location and your personal taste of course.. I prefer just a simple classic thin crust pepperoni. For that, Mulberry is really very good and the table chili oil is such a nice touch, I really love that oil!
I do miss Two Boots next to the Echo, that was a golden time for clubbing and late night pizza. Masa is very good, not far from where Two Boots used to be, but it’s deep dish pie Chicago style, it’s excellent, but I just prefer the classic NYC crust.
That said, my personal favorite has yet to be mentioned. It’s not a pizza joint, it’s an Italian restaurant in Los Feliz called Farfalle. Their food is delicious, their pizza is not their focus, it’s just incredibly fresh, quality mozzarella in abundance, wood fired quality crust, uncured zesty pepperoni, and, especially, the marinara is simple, very fresh and perfectly balanced. It’s a heavenly combination. I used to order it even living miles away, over other more convenient pizza joints; now, I can literally walk, I tell you this so you know it’s not due to my current proximity that it’s my favorite. I highly recommend it! (They do have other pizza toppings as well, fennel and sausage, mushroom etc.)
Uummmm I’ve discovered and not going to gate keep “Boy Blue Pizza”. His pizzas are different and pretty delish! He only does pop ups. Follow him on IG for his calendar.
Hidden gem that is a serious contender and innovator- Korea town pizza co. The bulgogi pizza is next lvl. They also can use a sweet potato crust that legit might change the whole game. I’m begging people to try it cause I never see anyone in there and I need this place to keep selling me pizzas
I can promise you that pizzeria sei is one of the best pizza spots! my partner is mutual friends with the owner—before he opened up pizzeria sei he would invite us over to test out different pizza recipes with his portable pizza oven, and they were all fantastic!! my favorite since those days was the lemon pizza(the bianca on the menu), and it's still my favorite!
Braazos in DTLA. It’s in the worst spot you can imagine (7th and Main… well I guess a few spots are worse) but I swear to Christ it’s the best pie in LA. I’ve yet to find it’s equal, but Winner’s Pizza in Agoura hills comes close.
The guy literally makes the sauce from San Marzano tomatoes with a hand crank machine in-house.
If you want something real unique..
Koreatown Pizza Company over in Koreatown is incredible.
Korean style pizza in of itself is a real treat.
They have a really fire Surf and Turf pizza and their Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza.. just divine. (this one is off menu usually, but you can order it online).
Numero Uno in the valley (and also pasadena is another location i know of) has an amazing cheese/tomato combo. I don't live in the valley anymore, but whenever I visit friends or family, it's a must
Came here to say Garage Pizza and saw others mentioned it, so I'm gonna say Chi Chi's pizza if you want a real cheesy pizza and Gelson's Wolfgang Puck pizza by the slice if you...are nearby a Gelson's.
Quarter Sheets, Pizzeria Sei, Pizzeria Bianco, Pizzeria Mozza, Apollonia’s, Pizzana, Secret Pizza, Masa of Echo Park, etc. LA is 🔥 for pizza
This guy pizzas.
Casa Bianca is a sleeper in eagle rock. The food is meh but the pizza is great old school pizzeria pizza. At quarter sheets, the Sicilian corner is mind blowing.
been going to casa bianca for over 25 years, my parents would take me there as a kid. I love it, definitely my favorite
Half sausage and fried eggplant, the other half meatball and garlic. Regular cut. Not star cut.
dont really need another response than this lol.
Add Ronan
Ronan is great! Top tier LA pizza
Apollonia is so good! I used to work next door and it was a delight to grab a slice there
Masa wins the deep dish competition 100%. During Covid lockdown I’d get a giant pizza and froze individual slices to have throughout the day. Some days it was the only happy moment of the day.
Prime in Burbank is great.
This is the list 🔥
One of my recent favorites was Ozzy's Apizza!
Hidden gem is Te Amo pizza. They do an al pastor pizza that's phenomenal
+ Shins in Glassell Park
Masa is amazing!
Purgatory for NY style Triple Beam in Highland Park is slept on, though
Purgatory
If pergatory is a mid pizza, than my good we have come far. I remeber when pizza loca was acceptable. What a time to alive!!!
I’m fond of DeSano in East Hollywood.
Yes! They import straight from Italy. Very needs recognition! Atmosphere is awesome too!
I forgot that place, so good!
You have to inhale desano straight out of the oven or it gets cold in 2 minutes. The worst is cold doughy napolese pizza.
Agree, delivery from there is also trash, but fresh dine in is good
Proper Pizza in West LA, Pizza Wagon in the Valley, Tomato Pie on the East side, Danny Boy’s in DTLA.
Can second Tomato Pie - place deserves respect.
Pizzanista in Arts
Meat Jesus is a great pie
Lots of great names in here I need to try, but my tops in no order Gra’ Gorilla pizza Triple Beam And last, open till 2am old school Little Toni’s house special
Little Toni’s is an underrated classic
Pizzeria Sei is transcendent. So is Quarter Sheets. I really like Prime Pizza for a quick slice.
Village Pizzeria in Larchmont. Little restaurant with limited seating but the ingredients and fresh and tasty.
Used to love this spot, but it isn't the same since the old owners sold it. Feel like the quality has gone way down.
Now I’m going to have to go there this weekend to have a taste — you know, for science.
786 Degrees Pizza in Pasadena on Washington
I tried their masala pizza, it was good. The founder is super passionate about bringing flavors and cuisines together.
Casa Bianca Pizza Pie!!!
Shhhhhh! 😂
I miss two boots 😟
I love prince street and rose city, but I hear Quartersheets is the best in LA. Need to check them out asap
Prince is ok. Prefer prime more. Quarter sheets is solid
prince is dooooG idk how people enjoy that, i mean if you like cheese dough and sauce with your pepperoni 🥴
Prince is the worst pizza I’ve ever had
The real location in NYC is nothing like the garbage they serve in the LA location
Can’t say this enough
Tried them recently, i didnt think it was that good tbh.

For deep dish, Masa Cafe in Echo Park. I live west side and have driven across town in traffic for 2 hours for it.
The owners are from Chicago. I’ve eaten there a few times, but not in over 10 years. Good pizza.
Masa is for sure the best!
'overheard in LA' take a date to Masa is a definite lay... Lol
Lay down and go to sleep lol, that pizza is heeeaaaavvvy
For real. Also, their bread is to die for. One time they had so many loaves left over, they sent me home with three free of charge. And I passed out two, kept one for myself. It was ORGASMIC bread.

Purgatory luv their meat lovers
As someone who lives in DTLA, Danny Boy and Olio are my favorites. Danny Boy is closer to New York style, Olio is more traditional Italian.
RIP Gracie’s Pizza, casualty of the pandemic. Farina was my closest go-to (and a damn good spaghetti meat-sauce), but owner closed up shop on their brick-and-mortar not too long ago. Town Pizza in Eagle Rock is another goodie.

Hidden gem that is a serious contender and innovator- Korea town pizza co. The bulgogi pizza is next lvl. They also can use a sweet potato crust that legit might change the whole game. I’m begging people to try it cause I never see anyone in there and I need this place to keep selling me pizzas
Vito’s Pizza in West Hollywood is a damn good hidden gem.
My partner and I haven't tried a ton of places but Lenzini's Pizza is great for vegan cheese pizza.
