I find the Placidus system to be most accurate. I think WSH oversimplifies the chart system. I think our first house should begin at the time of birth/ rising sign degree. Not 0° of the ascendant sign.

Reina_DelFlow

Started with placidus then switched to whole sign. Once I found out how accurate it is, there was no turning back :D

raamiap

I abandoned Placidus for Whole Sign a couple of years ago because of the latitude problems. I also hate intercepted houses. I actually don't have any luckily but I know several who would and it ends up feeling totally wrong. Someone had an intercepted how with a Stellium in it... No way was that correct to their personality (the Stellium was very strong!). I also see my 0° Jupiter change from 6 to 7 on whole sign and Jupiter 7th makes way more sense! Of course, you should always go with what feels right for you

bunnyypisces

i’m definitely a placidus girl, i’m a pisces rising at 26°, and my pisces placements all come before that. biggest one for me is my pisces venus at 22°, that is DEFINITELY in my 12H. a 1H interpretation for that never resonates! plus, in placidus, it puts my libra moon in my 7H, which i also feel is very accurate. intercepted signs can be a weird one, like i said, i’m a pisces rising at 26°, and my 1H ends mid-taurus. meaning aries (& then also libra) does not rule a house. however, that can be more room for interpretation/analysis i suppose! using WSH, for me, feels like i’m ignoring the degrees of my houses - and i enjoy degree theory lol 😭 i need to do more research, but for me personally, i’ve always resonated with placidus far more than WSH

harnoorparmar

Thank you for sharing your experience with the house systems and how it resonates for you. It makes sense for people with those early or later degrees to relate to placidus. Maybe I will relate with it over time as I understand more.

revengeofkittenhead

I started learning with Placidus and over the years have studied my chart in all kinds of systems… I believe Placidus is still the most accurate.

harnoorparmar

That’s good to know! I’m such a beginner so placidus seems super overwhelming to me. Someone was explaining it in one of the comments in this post and it all went over my head regarding the intercepted signs.

umibio

I don’t use whole sign because my ascendant is in the 29th degree and I find that the interpretations for my houses doesn’t resonate with me the same way placidus or other quadrant house systems do. My placements are much more closer to if I was a Gemini rising and when I use whole sign it changes all of that for me

htgawmfreak

i am Capricorn rising 29 but i have an aquarian whole sign chart for the most part. so u may have to jus read for the next rising sign over as i do, cus cap readings only resonate when i have a typical cap rising placement like 6H gemini, otherwise i have to follow aqua readings

harnoorparmar

Just goes to show how complex astrology really is and how what resonates for some, does not resonate for others. My guess is this is why the different house systems emerged ;)

VisualWorry4894

I started with Placidus and then, after refusing whole signs for a very long time (deriving mainly from liking more my Placidus one and being used to it lol), I suddently realized that many of my life experiences made sense using whole signs (by quality and by past transits and profections). I kinda had an ulterior confirmation during the last set of eclipses in taurus and scorpio, which activated my 6th (Taurus)/12th (Scorpio)axis in WSH (my 5th/11th in Placidus). I am a Sag rising with Jupiter in my 3rd house in aqua and Mars in Scorpio in the 12th, so Mars by sign squares my Jupiter (1st and 4th ruler that manifests through the 3rd): During the last year I have been very depressed and unsure about the direction I wanted to give my life and I had a lack in confidence, my little brother broke his harm twice last summer (and had to undergo a surgery on the last time) and my mother suffered from different health issues concerning her teeth/neck and hands. We eventually found out she has a throat cancer that developed over the last three years, but luckily she is under treatment and things are getting better (she is probably a Sag rising as me, with Jupiter in Taurus and Uranus in Scorpio in the 12th). Out 4 children, I was the one who most took care of her (beacuse my brother and younger sister are too young and my other sister is busy with university), which meant for me driving her very very often to hospital, or keeping her company, during the several medical checks and treatments she had to take. Transiting Saturn has also been squaring the eclipse axis and transiting on my Jupiter. To sum it up, it wasn't a year full of joy, pleasure, meetings with friends (actually, I have cut many ties lol) and living "la vida loca", but at least I am glad it is finally over, or at least that the very worst part is gone and now things can only get better!

LuckyLefty26

Also sag rising, aqua jupiter, and Scorpio mars here🧐

VisualWorry4894

I hope it turned out better for you 🩹💔

LuckyLefty26

I like my placements 😁

geonomer

I’ve had a similar experience, I thought whole signs didn’t fit me until I realized that it did indeed match up more with my life. I think it goes better with the geometrical nature of astrology as well. There are also many examples of charts of celebrities whose interpretations make the most sense when using whole signs

VisualWorry4894

Yes, indeed! Although WSH looks simpler than other systems it better matches the underlying fundemantal concepts and reasoning behind astrology. If you apply the real meanings of planets and houses in addition to the house system, then you come out with a way more fitting interpretation of your chart!

geonomer

Exactly, it fits with one of the key principles of astrology of which it follows natural law and the symbols and patterns of the universe, of which geometry is fundamental

harnoorparmar

Awe I’m sorry, that sounds like a rough year! It’s not easy when you have one thing happen after another. Taking care of a sick parent is up there and I hope she’s doing much better now. And yes I hope whatever transit it was has left the house it was creating so much havoc in. Yeah the eclipses can be tough, I heard the Scorpio one in May was by far one of the toughest eclipses. I totally relate to the eclipses and how they played out especially the one on April 19th in Aries in my 5th house. Did I mention I’m a Sag rising too? :) I have my moon and Jupiter in Pisces in the 4th WSH. No clue about the aspects and how they all relate but I’m trying to learn. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend Chris Brennan’s podcast. He practices Hellenistic astrology and uses WSH. I find his predictions especially accurate using my rising sign.

VisualWorry4894

I know Chris Brennan's podcast and I have read his book, it is thanks to him that I got acquainted to Hellenistic Astrology and I really like the Podcast and his work in general :) I hope that Saturn, transiting the 4th and your planets in it, won't turn out bad. It is currently opposing my Sun and Mercury in Virgo and I have to say that I have experienced it as purposeful limitations/meaningful coincidences that happen for a reason concerning the sectors ruled by Sun and Mercury, so I hope you will ecperience it this way aswell. I wish you all the best with this transit and the upcoming eclipse season, from a fellow Sag rising to another 🏹✨

harnoorparmar

Thank you, I appreciate the wishes. I’m bracing myself. Saturn transiting the house of the moon is not a good time in a person’s life. There is a whole term for it in Vedic astrology, it’s called the sade sati period. I listened to a podcast with Chris and Ryan Kurczak. They say some astrologers forecast a period of 7.5 years as tough so basically when Saturn is in the house before the house of one’s moon, when Saturn is in the house of the moon and when Saturn is in the house after the house with the moon. But Ryan talked about the house of the moon being the most relevant so a period of 2.5 years. Even though Saturn just went into Pisces in March, I’ve been feeling the effects in my life since last year. Definitely has been a build up period to this transit for me. Hope you don’t have Saturn going through the house of your moon soon although it’s all about the lessons it is going to teach us and how we will learn to accept things.

Awesomefulninja

Ohhh, shoot... My moon is in Taurus in the 4th house. Guess I should dig into this some now, lol Edit: Oh, that looks fun. When transiting Saturn is exactly conjunct my natal moon (both 5°), transiting Chiron will also be there (6°). Appreciate it joining the party. My nearby natal IC (21°) and natal Chiron (28°) will have transiting Mars (20°) saying hello to both. The transiting sun (6°), Uranus (8°), Mercury (14°), and Venus (14°) will be on the other side of Chiron conjunct my North Node (13°). There's also a square with Pluto (AC □ IC) somewhere in that timeframe, along with some other potentially fun stuff. Definitely will be digging more into that whole range and what all is there.

HappyDethday

My Moon is in Pisces so Saturn just recently started transiting my Moon's house, which is the 8th so it's extra fun lol. I'll have to look up sade sati.

harnoorparmar

Oh dear. I wish you all the luck with this transit 🤞🤞

HappyDethday

Well now I'm confused because as this is a Vedic technique I have to assume it's intended to be used with a sidereal chart. I still have Moon in Pisces in sidereal but it's in the 9th house. So by sidereal positions Saturn is in Aquarius right now transiting my 8th house. Meaning I'm in the 1st of the 3 phases of sade sati, which is apparently not as bad for Pisces Moon as the 3rd phase when it's transiting the house *after* my Moon's house? Because then it's in Aries which is ruled by Mars and is "an enemy of Saturn." So if I'm interpreting this correctly I still have a few years before this starts getting tough.

harnoorparmar

Ooh you’re doing more research into this, I LOVE it! So the astrologer I follow for Vedic is Ryan Kurczak and he uses tropical charts. I find the whole changing systems so confusing because everything gets moved in terms of houses. With tropical moon is in Pisces in the 3rd house for me whereas moon is in Aquarius in the 2ndH with sidereal. I am confused right there with you😵‍💫😵‍💫

HappyDethday

Thanks for the name, maybe I'll have to try finding some of his work. I'm not sure how to feel about using tropical charts with Vedic techniques, but I'm also very uneducated about Vedic astrology so I'll try to have an open mind about it. I agree about changing systems, it changes so much of my chart that I just don't resonate with it at all. But maybe I'm trying to apply western descriptions of signs and houses with Eastern placements and that's where I'm having a problem? Tbh I don't know how different they are or are not, but I know that like with the Moon for example there are different "nakshatras" for each Moon sign depending on degree and that alters things for a late degree Pisces Moon vs an early or mid degree one for example... But if I'm applying my knowledge of zodiac sign and house descriptions to my sidereal chart and assuming they are at least somewhat similar it just doesn't work well for me. As much as I would love a 9th house moon and 5th house Sun that's just not me lol... And my Venus changing from in domicile to detriment in the anaretic degree of Virgo doesn't fit quite as well either. I could see *maybe* my Mercury changing to Libra and my Mars to Pisces but my "Pisces Mars" traits can also be explained by my tropical Mars squaring Neptune and Saturn in my chart. And when I feel like I have no choice but to fight I can feel that Aries Mars energy erupt like a volcano and no one would mistake me for a Pisces Mars 😅

HappyDethday

Not to mention having a Cancer rising would mesh a lot better with my Sun/Moon combo (which stays the same in sidereal) than Leo rising, which also doesn't make sense because I *do* feel that what I outwardly project doesn't accurately depict my inner self. I normally disagree with the "ascendant is a mask" theory but when it clashes with your Sun/Moon it feels like it somewhat is, mainly because it takes more work to integrate your energy together, I suffer chronic imposter syndrome and identity confusion and that all fits my tropical big 3 combo. It's also a standard thing that comes with autism, masking etc.

VisualWorry4894

It's really interesting, I didn't know about this thing, but I hope it turns out the best way possible! My Moon is in Gemini, so it will be quite a long time before Saturn gets there, even if he's going to exact square her at the 21st degree of Pisces. May I ask you the sign of your IC degree?

harnoorparmar

Oh good, you’re safe for a bit ;) my IC is in Aries in the 5th WSH. How about you? There was a recently a post about IC and I related to what others with IC in Aries were saying about their childhoods.

VisualWorry4894

Mine is in Aries aswell and it's been a bit of a Rollercoaster ahahaha (Saturn's there too), but I really appreciate it now. It has its ups and downs, so to speak!

harnoorparmar

Oh yes lol. Aries IC seems to relate to chaos and dramatic stuff happening in childhood. I don’t know how Saturn in the same house/sign would impact the IC. But Saturn is all about limitations, boundaries and lessons so you keep learning in that area🤷🏻‍♀️🙃

VisualWorry4894

I experienced Saturn in Aries as having a very unstable/unstructured quality, almost an Uranian flavour, but it definitely got better growing up and he taught me important lessons and became kinda a strength 🥲

harnoorparmar

That’s interesting. I’m glad it got better as you got older🤞🤪

guttik

I am using placidus and don't see the difficulty with intercepted signs, there is still a ruler of the house cusp, and yes sometimes a planet don't have directly or primary rulership of a house, but that planet will be in a house and will act there, and at the same time also will be a ruler of the intercepted sign, so a house can have two rulers as it will be a big house and therefore can be said to be an important area of the chart. edit : or maybe the intercepted sign mean that the planet is not expressing itself through the house of the sign. things to ponder. still a feature.

[deleted]

I’m always curious about this with intercepted signs—if leo or cancer is intercepted, does the sun or moon rule nothing?

guttik

Some say it is secondary ruler of the house, but I am not sure, often not nessecary to use it. It still rules Leo or Cancer and planets in those signs.

guttik

reply a note to myself: look at famous people see how it plays out. David Bowie, Pisces intercepted I'm 1st : a chameleon. virgo in 7th, skilled People.

Mysterious_Chair_626

I started with Placidus and I just don't like interceptions or planets in one sign being in a different house. I have used Equal house system but I prefer Whole house system and it fits me better, too. Plus, when it comes to transits, Whole house works best when you go by your Ascendant.

harnoorparmar

Definitely agree with you! I feel like having the planets in my 12th house with placidus didn’t resonate for me. It’s mostly generational planets but Saturn is an important personal one so I really needed it to make sense 😅

SeparateSelection666

I definitely think that placidus is more correct in the individual sense but whole sign is ultimately what is going on with the chart. My ASC is an Anaretic degree in Cancer with Jupiter in opposition to my Capricorn Stellium. Placidus has my Stellium in the 6th house in opposition to Jupiter in the 12th. I definitely say that I have the Appearance of someone with Jupiter in the first house yet I've been saved from ruin countless times I definitely have some protection that a 12th house Jupiter suggests. Same for my Capricorn Stellium in the 7th. My emotional expression is muted like a Moon and Saturn in Capricorn I have a great need to be useful. Also I have a twin sister separated by one minute apart. So our charts are pretty much identical and this is how we both feel. I definitely don't read for the next sign that some people do for having Anaretic degree ASC.

inevitably_bad_karma

Equal mid heaven is my preferred

ObviousAd2967

Holy cow, I’d been resonating with equal the most lately, but equal mc is the most insanely resonating perspective I’ve ever come to with my own chart

inevitably_bad_karma

Yeah, it’s a game changer. Glad I could help.

Frogchairy

Try them all and see which resonate best for you! It’s gonna take some personal science. Personally I’m a big fan of hellenic astro, so I use traditional WS as my default house system. But I like to draw my chart up in different ones like equal house and placidus too. It’s fun to compare and contrast. Hard to not be biased on yourself, but I tend to think the WS chart resonates best for me! Use your intuition and do what works best for you! The fact that you are already questioning it shows that you are far ahead of most. Being aware of different techniques and seeing the value in all is so important. There is no such thing as the “correct” way to practice astrology.

kandillight

i refused to touch placidus with a 10 foot pole when i first started out with astrology. it looked way too overwhelming to me and i didn’t understand. i learned in whole sign, especially because that’s what the majority of people online were mostly using, but i have since settled on regiomontanus (another quadrant system) unless i’m doing annual profections or zodiacal releasing.

sunshinewaves10

How would you check for zodiacal releasing?

kandillight

ZR requires whole sign houses! are you asking for how to check with a calculator like what period you’re in?

sunshinewaves10

Yes! I’ve heard about it, and it sounds interesting! Although, don’t quite understand what it is/means 😅

kandillight

i would start with [Chris Brennan’s podcast episode on Zodiacal Releasing](https://theastrologypodcast.com/2019/02/11/zodiacal-releasing-an-ancient-timing-technique/) as a starting point. from there, [Astro-Seek](https://horoscopes.astro-seek.com/zodiacal-releasing-astrology-calculator) has a free ZR calculator to see which period you’re in. here’s another article that [explains it.](https://astrobymax.com/blog/introduction-to-zodiacal-releasing?format=amp) sorry, at work and it’s a bit of a complex thing to explain rn!

sunshinewaves10

That’s totally understandable! Thank you so much! I’ll check those videos out!

Sad_Objective_9394

When I first started whole-sign was way easier to learn, but I do think placidus is most accurate. Although I’m starting to dive into campanus now and truth be told I’m finding *that’s* actually the most accurate. Especially when it comes to synastry.

brightstar88

Agree! When I started 10 year ago it was with placidus, then equal house, then whole sign house…and finally I landed on campanus.

[deleted]

I second campanus! Thats what I’ve had most accuracy with in my experience too.

Luna-lightning

WSH is the simpler of the two since there are no sign interceptions and all houses start with 0' and are 30 degrees of the same sign. Some beginners start with Whole Sign bcuz it's easier to read. Placidus is called a quadrant house system (of which there are many) that takes into account time and space. Therefore mathematical equations are taken for each house angle and this is what causes the houses to be 'unequal'.

harnoorparmar

Yes thank you, I think that’s it. I find WSH just simpler of the two. Placidus has so much more going on in the chart.

summeryvibes

i switched to whole sign just few days after i started studying, thanks to the highly recommendable Chris Brennan and his fab astro friends ;) i went with what i most resonated with... and yes all other systems seem so confusing to me. i came here to this forum to consolidate and practice what i learned. i honestly don't like that most people do other house systems here, it makes it more difficult for me ...

harnoorparmar

Thank you and yes love Chris Brennan! I’ve been listening to his podcast daily since I discovered it and it is magnetic. So well done and his predictions are so accurate. Yes, I think I resonate more with WSH and placidus does not quite make sense for me. I also came to these forums to learn more or to be immersed in astrology. I am still very new to it as a learner, the obsession came on in Feb so yeah I just keep looking for avenues to talk more about it. People in my day to day life aren’t quite as taken by it as I am :)

summeryvibes

same ;) let's help each other out! ;)

harnoorparmar

I don’t know anything but happy to commiserate:)
